1. The preview for ep 5 of A Gentleman's Dignity promises me this:

Also:

I love how Haneul is slowly and unwittingly shaping Donggun into a kind of man it's worth having a relationship with - he was never bad but he's had the emotional stamina of a ten-year old before. But she is making it hard for him, making him actually woo her (and he is also 10-yr-old forthright) and despite his seeming glibness, he's drawn in further and further and further. As for Yoon and Maeri, all I can say is that they are pure love.

2. This trailer for ep 3 of Bridal Mask (thanks, anon!). Cannot. Breathe.

3. Despite for my love of Jin/Young Rae, I actually found myself alternashipping her with Korean Edward Cullen in ep 4. I mean! He saves her from murderers! There is comfort hugging! Etc! I think she should alternate...

4. To my complete and utter shock, I actually adored the first episode of Big, the Hong Sisters' drama starring Lee Min Jung and Gong Yoo. I only checked it out of sheer boredom, expecting to hate it (I normally cannot stand Lee Min Jung and I used to love Hong Sisters a long time ago but all their recent dramas made me want to bleach my eyeballs with acid), but perhaps because my expectations were low, I found it lovely, lovely lovely.

Tbh, if I didn't know Hong Sisters wrote this, I would never peg it as a recent drama of theirs - the frenetic pace is absent, the zany brittle preciousness (that their fans find wonderful but grates on me) is absent, nobody is walking around like a cartoon on steroids (I am looking at you, Dokko Jin, who best belonged in a Bugs Bunny cartoon), and the characters actually feel like people that might exist in real world. It is even more mellow than their early works, let alone their latest stuff. (Not to bash frenetic - when done right, it's great, but I don't think they've managed to do it right since Hong Gil Dong).

I am also shipping our 24-yr-old teacher heroine with our 18-yr-old student (who ends up in Gong Yoo's body) like mad. In fact, this drama feels like nothing but a supernatural twist on Biscuit Candy and Star Teacher (also starring Gong Yoo :P) or Romance or (a very very light take on) Majo No Jouken. Color me shocked.

Now, I am not sure how it will turn out - the moment wacky OTT kicks in, if it does, I am out. But for now, what a lovely lovely surprise.

Hmmm... Maybe I should give AGD another chance and see if the leading lady will stop annoying the heck out of me.

Pls, don't tempt me with BIG! I had no interest what so ever in it and now you made me want to take a peek. *headdesk*

AGD's leading lady didn't change so if you disliked her before, you'll probably continue to do so.

Big is shockingly un-Hong Sisterslike. I think their fans are disappointed but I am pleased.

Oh my god, you pretty much summed up exactly how I feel about Big! I've never really liked the Hong Sisters' dramas because too often their lead characters seem more like the shallowest, most predictable of caricatures rather than actual people + I also am not fond of that OTT, frenetic atmosphere since it usually just feels so... idk, dumbed-down. This time around I didn't actually realize this was written by them until I saw a timed comment on viki saying so and my eyes pretty much bugged out of my head from the surprise. It's just so different from what I've come to expect from them. Also, IDK if it's due to the PD or what, but there were a lot of subtle, well-done moments I really appreciated (I remember beign impressed the way KH + GY's character transitioned into the cherubs, that whole scene where Lee Minjung rushes into the hospital and there's no dialogue, only music, etc, etc). That being said, the second the characters start acting like idiots and spouting the same old tired, corny puns like the Hong sisters usually have their characters end up doing I am out.

Yes, and their latest dramas have been the worst (I mean, Best Love gave me hives). This is surprisingly quiet and with room for characters to breathe.

Second ep good so far. crossing fingers.

I actually found Big refreshing. It was not pretentious, it was not hectic, nothing was insane! It was such a sock to discover that the doctor is not actually the main character. I thought the drama would deal with how he and heroine found a way to be with each other, but this is even better!!! I completely ship her with the student, although I am still confused which body version I ship her with, but I guess I am going to have to get used to Gong Yoo's body.

Also, YAY FOR THE KISSES EVERYWHERE FOR AGD!!!!

jaejoong in chosun garb is so freaking hilarious to me i can't get over it. he looks like an alien!! (the most pretty and unintimidating alien).

wow, omg, go big! i'm waiting 'til it's done but the most confusing shipping dynamics ever. it'd be brilliant if they ended up with younger-older versions!!

(also, mousie, dyu have any idea where to get love rain dls? i'm lost, lmao, and i tried a torrent that just wasn't having any of it).

I kind of hate JDG character in AGD, dude is a douche and she's so much better then he is. I feel sad for her though having a unrequited love.
I was surprised about Big, it was a very different first ep for a Hong sisters drama but I liked it a lot. I'm not though convinced that Da-Ran is supposed to be with Joon, I think Joon longs for family and love from a family. But Yoon-Yae is sketchy, I don't think he is straight with Da-Ran and in the scene where she falls down the stairs their hands don't meet (dun dun dun). But looking forward to how it develops^^

Ehhh, I like JDG's character because he's forthright.

I think DR is supposed to be with Joon but we'll see.

I definitely ship Young Rae with Jae Joong's character, obviously because you know how I love the bad guys with that softness for only the heroine, plus he needs love so so badly, Jin/Young Rae is boring to me. Btw, why do you call Jae Joong's character the Korean Edward Cullen, is it because of his painful expression? I'm definitely trying Big, I love forbidden student-teacher love (even better when heroine is the teacher), I loved Biscuit Candy and Star Teacher, and Loveholic.

He's Korean Edward Cullen because I think JJ looks rather like RPatz and also his character does the stalkery stoic thing.

Big is cute, if pretty fluffy so far.

I guess Jae Joong looks like Edward a bit, but I find the real RPatz, without makeup and just normal, not attractive at all. Jae Joong on the other hand...he is very beautiful in an androgynous way. I get what you mean though, he is very stalkery stoic in this drama. I watched the first two episodes of Big and I love it, the first episode really reminded me of Biscuit Teacher, I'm glad the Hong sisters have toned it down a lot. There are still some crazy things happening but not totally OTT like they are usually.
