I WANT I WANT

Arang - I adore fusion sageuks, the leads are Lee Jun Ki (back from the Army, rawr!) and Shin Minah, there is a murder mystery element and, most likely, a romance between a magistrate and a ghost. How would I ever not be in?

Bridal Mask - Joo Won (!!!!!!!!!) plays a freedom-fighter against the Japanese in an adaptation of a famous manga. Everything I've seen about it indicates that it's going to be as if Capital Scandal and City Hunter mated and had an amazing baby.

Faith - Lee Min Ho in a period drama!!!!!! OK, now I calmed down. About a modern plastic surgeon who travels back in time. You know what I said about fusion sageuks? It goes double for time-travel dramas. Plus the whole 'modern woman goes back in time' is exciting. I like Kim Hee Sun, the female lead. And some of the supporting cast are ridiculously hot Sung Hoon and Lee Philip. Plus, to top it off, the writer is Song Jina, who wrote Eyes of Dawn/Sandglass/Legend/Slingshot/What's Up, i.e., she who can do no wrong.

Nice Guy Song Joong Ki gets his first lead role, opposite the amazing Mousie favorite Moon Chae Won. This would be enough, alone, to get me excited. But in a romantic revenge melodrama by the writer of Sang Do Let's Go to School, A Love to Kill, Thank You, and Will It Snow on Xmas, i.e., one of my favorite writers, and with the story of a man who seeks to use a woman to get revenge on his ex only to fall for her...yum, YES PLEASE.

The Great Seer - I don't know much about this one, but a period drama starring Ji Jin Hee means I am in.

Timeslip Dr. Jin - I am a sucker for fusion time-travel (duh), love the trailer and the stills and the cast - Song Seung Heon, Jaejoong, Park Min Young etc.

MAYBE

Ghost - I hate medical dramas but love So Ji Sub and Lee Yeon Hee. Plus, I think they will have ridiculously hot chemistry. So if the drama focuses more on their relationship (or non-medical angst etc), I am in.

I Need Romance 2 - I pretty much hated the outcome of the first one, and I didn't even watch it. But I live in hope that in this one, the gal won't go back to the cheater. Plus, I find Lee Jin Wook about the hottest thing on two legs and it's a rare opportunity to see him as the lead. Jung Yumi is gorgeous and they will make a totally eye-candy couple. So yeah, let's just hope his character is not a repeat cheater.

Vampire Prosecutor 2 - Simply because I haven't yet watched the original. If I do before this comes out, I will be all over it as I have yet to hear a single bad thing about the first one.

YOU CAN KEEP IT, THANKS

A Gentleman's Dignity - I think it's illegal to be a kdrama fan without loving Jang Dong Gun, and I do, but the male Sex in the City set-up leaves me beyond bored and so I will be skipping his small-screen comeback. Sorry!

Big - Hong Sisters are uneven for me, and none of their post-Hong Gil Dong work is in my love column (Gumiho came close, being so cute). Plus, I find the body-swapping plot grating without having even seen a second of this, romcoms are rarely my thing, and I appear to be the sole person in dramaworld who loathes Lee Min Jung, the female lead. All of this screams AVOID in big neon letters, despite my love of Gong Yoo.

Golden Time - Medical drama. Yawn.

I Do I Do - I don't like workplace dramas, I don't like younger man-older woman romanced outside of serious drama a la Majo No Jouken, all the stills I've seen yell their cutesiness, the knocked up plot does not interest me to put it mildly (contraception, use it!), I am unfamiliar with the male lead and ambivalent about Kim Suna. It all screams skip.

Eh...everything except Vampire Prosecutor 2 and Arang is in the maybe column. Time Slip Jin is full of actors I like so I'm still thinking about it

I love Lee Jang Woo from We Got Married and laughing at his last "melodrama" and adore Kim Sun Ah...but I Do I Do is doing nothing for me.

I actually want to check out everything, with the exception of The Seer, A Gentleman's Dignity and Golden Time, and probably Ghost since procedural dramas aren't really my thing. IDK what I am going to do when all these premiere, I feel overwhelmed already with three dramas on my plate...

Just a while ago I was getting sick of kdramas because everything felt stale , but now it totally feels like Korea is stepping up its game-- all the premises seem so interesting and out of the box lately, both currently airing dramas and especially with this onslaught of new ones. I love the creativity, of course, but I am probably going to die from the burden of watching ALL of them.

Really really excited for Dr. Jin + Nice Guy.

Yeah, I've found out the max I can follow is 3 dramas and even that is tight. This is going to be interesting.

Arang, Nice Guy and Dr. Jin for me.

Arang for plots, Nice Guy for JK and Gwang Soo, Moon Chae Won too, and the angst, and hopefully a lot of kiss scenes from JK.
Dr. Jin, for some history lesson, LBS, LSY and JJ, sure, the other two too.

i'm pretty much with you in all of those, and ngl a huge part of me is hoping for the video makers out there to use scenes of minho in sageuk clothes and make a crossover video with dr jin (what can i say i'm still in the minmin both).

the only one i don't agree is big, mostly because of my love for gong yoo trumps by annoyance towards lee min jung, plus my puppy suzy is on it too and i want to see how she improved. i'm hoping for it to be good.

The MinMin vid would be fun :)

If the female lead was anyone but Lee Min Jung, Big would be in the maybe column. But she makes me see red.

i don't think she is bad, but i don't think she's good either, her fans are the one who make me even more annoyed towards her because they belittle other actress acting, when she is no ha ji won or shin min ah. plus i think that she lakcs certain charisma.

Definitely checking out Arang, Bridal Mask, VP2, Faith, A Gentleman's Dignity and quite likely Nice Guy too as I want to see SJK as a lead. Ghost (which is NOT a medical drama but one about cyber detectives) and INR2 are a 'maybe'. I've no idea what The Great Seer or Golden Time are so those are 'no comment'. The others... not interested.

The most anticipated ones: Arang, Bridal Mask and VP2. :)

its actually not that easy to get ahold of contraception in Korea. people use it sure, but its not something anyone talks about. its a really conservative country. I'm looking forward to I do I do its like exactly my kind of thing. and BIG could be fun so i'm open to it, esp for gong yoo. I wanna try Nice Guy even tho I am sure to hate it cause I found A Love to Kill laughably melodramatic. but i looove song joong ki so i will try it, worst case scenario i find it as unintentionally hilarious as i did A Love to Kill. Faith I am excited about. I wanna see a drama where a woman goes back in time, and how thats dealt with. although wtf a plastic surgeon will do in medieval korea i really cant imagine. i'll prob check out Dr Jin too even tho its obv a dressed up historical version of a medical drama and i HATE medical dramas and i also dont care for sageuks very much. so i am not sure how much i will like it but lee beom soo is in it and also i love time travel concepts. so we'll see. here's to hoping i dont get grossed out during the surgery scenes.

Apparently the rumors are heroine in Faith fixes the princess' face among other things (think of all the vain noble people :P) Plastic surgeon = surgeon = doctor, so she could do fine even without that though :)

Re: contraception. But KSA is supposed to be in her 30s. I'd think it'd be simple to follow the 'wrap it or keep it away from me' rule. Especially since Koreans don't have 12 kids per family so contraception must be heavily in play.

I have almost the same must see's as you but with a few exceptions.
Bridal mask sounds awesome but I'm just worried that once again all the supposed "japanese" are villains, I know my history so yes I know the time was difficult and terrible but not all japanese people were monsters like in most historical korean dramas.
Dr Jin, loved the japanese version but still iffy about the korean version. I think the 3 leads are all very weak actors but I know I'll love the supporting cast Lee so yeon looks absolutely gorgeous and LBS is great.
I'll watch Big, because I can's seem to dislike the Hong sisters.
And I'm watching INR 2 because Jung Yumi, not touching Ghost though.

Well, the secondary guy is supposed to be a Japanese teacher who loves kids and secondary gal is an assassin for the Japanese (not sure if she's Japanese herself) who falls for the hero, so it might not go uniform evil route.

i'm really looking forward to seeing song joong ki playing that kind of character in nice guy. you just know he's going to pull out all the stops, i'm super looking forward to seeing lots of meltdowns and manpain, lmao.

arang is going to be crazy, lee junki, finally, and shin minah is such a delight. i think it'll be dependent on the tone but if they get it right it should be awesome.

i hope big surprises us all, i mean gumiho is the cutest fucking show to ever exist and i haven't seen best love yet but i'm sure i'll be entertained if nothing else, but something less comedic and more like hong gil dong – i mean, that was so ambitious, and it paid off so damn well. ;\

Ahhh, melo and manpain. My favorite things. I was shocked to discover he's a year older than MCW and a couple of years older than Lee Min Ho, he's so babyfaced. But a hell of an actor.

Date: 2012-05-15 12:35 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] spunspider.livejournal.com
really??! he's a couple of years younger than lee minho???!! crazy. the young generation is super super talented (and super super attractive!), i'm expecting 'em all to fulfill their quota of manpain.

I have an unhealthy crush on Joo Won so Bridal Mask is probably the only drama I'm excited about. I also have an irrational fear that it will be terrible. Maybe not entirely irrational considering how many dramas with amazing premises turned out to be really sucky. But I really hope this one won't! I need me some Joo Won!

I'm tentatively hopeful for Big because I've recently rewatched Coffee Prince and Gong Yoo was so excellent in it acting wise and I'm counting on him to make it good.

Have you finished watching My Girlfriend is a Gumiho? It gets really good in the latter angsty sections!

I am on ep 12 of Gumiho, I believe. It's one of those dramas I adore while watching but when I stopped, I get sidetracked. I don't get it but...ehhh, still adorable.

Date: 2012-05-14 07:07 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] iheartkleenex.livejournal.com
I'm gonna give Big a try just because I love Gong Yoo. The only way I would like a Hong Sisters drama is if they have actors whom I adore. To be honest, out of all their dramas I can only say I loved Gumiho just because the leads were Shin Min Ah and Lee Seung Gi, but all the others not so much. I have serious issues with their characters.

The rests are about the same, and I Do I Do I will most likely refuse to watch since its beginning means and end of King 2Hearts. I don't know how I will go on without my weekly dosage of King...

From: [identity profile] iheartkleenex.livejournal.com
Oh no, I am still beyond obsessed with it. I am not even kidding. In fact, I am pretty sure it might end up as my current all time favourite kdrama, it all depends on the ending. If they cheap out at the end and we get an ending like Goong where all of a sudden he gives up his tittle as king, I will be pissed! I will feel like they cheated me out of my ending, here I have spend 20 episodes putting my heart and soul into this drama and it ends up with an ending like that. I want it to end with them being the kick ass king and queen.

Golden Time - Medical drama. Yawn.

I think that Japan and Korea should stop doing medical dramas entirely. JIN was OK and I like some alternative (into Cleopatra right now) or light medical dramas (kira kira kenshui) most medical dramas are 100% boring, even with a good cast.
