Because Mr. Mousie is the best husband known to man, his present to me for Mother's Day was to get a babysitter for us to go to see The Avengers. (It is turning into a tradition of sorts - last year it was Thor).

LOVE! LOVE!!!!

I was especially impressed how Joss managed to have so many main characters and give them all character development, depth and individual voices.

1. They had Tony/Pepper. EEEEEEEEE!!!! I don't know why I ship them so, but I do.

2. Tony Stark was my favorite character in this and, of course, I drool over Thor who is always awesome (btw hooray for continuity mention of Jane), but the biggest shock was Captain America - I found him rather underwhelming in his own movie but I totally fell utterly in love with him here. He's just so good guy it hurts. Is there going to be Captain America 2? Say yes, please.

3. I really liked this take on the Hulk. Mark Ruffalo might be my favorite Hulk even over Edward Norton because he just owns the laid-back scientist with the ever-present edge of desperation (and view of hulk as this other, not him at all). I have zero interest in the hulk but I do love Banner.

4. Last but not least. I desperately need Hawkeye/Black Widow fanfic. I mean, come on, they hit every OTP kink I didn't know I had! Oh God, please tell me it's out there!

So, link me to your thoughts and any good Avengers fic, please!!!

Being Australian, I watched this back in April and I LOVED IT! Basically everything about it was amazing, but I particularly agree re: Tony & Thor; they're my fave characters hands down. And holy shit, I thought I was the only one who wasn't a huge fan of Cap in his own movie but found him way more likeable in Avengers. He was kind of adorably behind-the-times.

Yes, there's going to be Captain America 2 in 2014! Thor 2 comes out at the end of 2013, too, so there'll be good Marvel times.

Captain America and Thor are actually optioned trilogies - I think Hemsworth and Evans (a forest of Chris's!) have signed up for 6 movies total: 3 for their own trilogies, and 3 of Avengers.

So, that's going to be a lot of awesome pectorals and biceps in our future.

There's also confirmed rumours of a Widow movie in the works, hopefully with some Hawkeye thrown in there, since they gave us so much backstory hinting in the Avengers. I live in hope!

I heard about them signing up for 3 Thor/Cap movies, but not for 3 of Avengers. The idea of years more of glorious pecs and biceps on display just made my day!

People have been clamoring for a Hawkeye/Black Widow spinoff since the movie came out, so fingers-crossed they'll make that happen. Widow seriously surprised me by being so awesome.

I wonder what they're going to do about RDJ once Iron Man 3 comes out and his 3 movie contract runs out; they simply can't do this whole thing without RDJ. I suppose they'd beg him very hard if he doesn't agree, but somehow I don't see RDJ wanting to give this up so soon anyway.

Yay for all the movies!

Thor and Tony were my favorite too. That fight cracked me up to no end.

Just saw the Avengers tonight too! The last related movie I saw was the original "Iron Man", so I admit that I'm behind on the overall canon. That said, I was surprised I was able to keep pace with the story despite not having had the full benefit of seeing every other preceding film.

And as for fic...ask, and ye shall receive:

Voices, a Hawkeye/Black Widow story. You're welcome. :)

There's going to be an Iron Man 3, a Captain America 2 and a Thor 2. And definitely a sequel to the Avengers in itself.

I agreed with all these points (though maybe not 4, I tend to see Hawkeye and BW as just friends), but YES, Tony/Pepper was adorable, Ruffalo is definitely the best Hulk and all the characters get their shining moment. Such a fun film!

Yessss. I love my superhero movies.

I hope they keep Ruffalo as the Hulk.

I saw this Saturday afternoon and I agree that it was awesome. Maybe one of the best superhero films out there. All the characters were brilliant and Mark Ruffalo was perfect as Bruce/Hulk. I totally agree about Hawkeye/Black Widow.

Totally. I know she told Loki that love is for children, but there are clearly some unresolved feelings between those two. There is a rumor that the Black Widow may get a film to deal with her origin story. I kind of hope it happens, if only for some Hawkeye/Black Widow.

Absolutely loved this movie.

Joss Whedon was able to take a bunch of different characters and create good conflict and team work out of them.

I've seen so many blockbusters like this so I didn't think I would be surprised by any of the actions sequences. But there were so many cool and new ones in this movie.

I felt like such a nerd when I exclaimed, "That is SO COOL" when I saw the ship start to fly and when Iron Man's suit came flying to him.

I can't remember the last time I saw a movie in the theater and had the audience all laugh at loud together. It was that scene with the Hulk and Loki.

Isn't the guy who plays Loki charismatic? My first reaction was that he was ugly but then the more he stayed on screen, the more magnetic I found him.

Yes, our audience clapped at that Hulk and Loki bit.

I find the Loki actor hideous but very good in the role.

Since ancarett above already linked you to the wide field search ones, I'll just give you my Clint/Natasha tag for fun, atm there aren't many because 1) I'm brutally picky about my fic and 2) there aren't too many post-movie fics in this pairing yet.

But I'm sure they'll pop up.

I just love those bits of hilarious comments every character has a chance to say but I have to say that I love every word that comes out of Stark's mouth. I don't know if it's the character or the actor who makes it more hilarious :)

So I'm not he only one..I guess mother's day is the Avengers day as well! Well written, love the action and comedy part--especially with a fun audience with the clapping and the cheering. I can't wait for the sequel!

I heartily agree with all of your points, although I did love Captain America in his own film, but he was the first of the Avengers that I read/watched.

Joss did such an amazing job of pulling all those characters and storylines together and all I can say is I need me a Hawkeye/Black Widow movie now please. I want to know what really happened in Budapest!

Oh and I hear it will be Iron Man 3, Thor 2, Captain America 2 and then The Avengers 2
