Come to Mama, baby!!!!
May. 11th, 2012 09:49 amA few first official stills from Timeslip Dr. Jin have been released and my interest shot up 800%.
Gaaaaah, Jaejoong looks gorgeous but it's the SSH/PMY still that got me insane! They look amazing (not to mention I always wanted SSH in a period drama). This cannot start soon enough. (I am sure it will get killed I the ratings by Gentleman's Dignity but I have zero interest in that one).

Date: 2012-05-13 03:26 am (UTC)Ugh, I'm only watching this for the history part, LBS and JJ, and LSY. I'll keep a blind eyes to everything else. Hopefully, the interesting history part will save the drama, because if they change the cannon storyline too much away from JPN version then I'll be so pissed and will skip all of SSH and PMY scenes. Hopefully, they somewhat stick to the JPN version and she was in a coma because of the surgery and not an accident. And hopefully that dying scene was of the Joseon character. Cause let's not forget, unless you haven't watch Jin, that Saki had a scene like that....
And if it's staying true to everything, Jin has to go back to modern time, and that he was trying to match made her in Joseon era. That was so funny and amusing to me in Jin, and that's why I like it, cause he's staying true to his purpose. Most, time-traveling story, dramas has the character staying there, which pissed me off. I like Jin and BBJX because they return.

Date: 2012-05-14 02:15 am (UTC)I do wish MBC kept it on the weekdays, though (it was originally supposed to be a Mon/Tues drama after Lights & Shadows), because now it has to compete with Jang Dong Gun's A Gentleman's Dignity. AGD is bound to have good ratings, with Kim Eun Sook writing and JDG in lead role. I'd rather this be a good drama that has low ratings than a terrible mess with great ratings like MoonSun though, and I must admit the sets, costumes and everything look great. :P

Ah, I'm like you, I don't wish for this to get high ratings, or become nation's dramas LOL. I rather it has average rating but good. I think MBC is really making this a special project, that's why they had it on the weekend? They probably put more budget into this. MBC always put in more money into their Sageuk. And, it seemed like Dr. Jin always gets the bad rep because of this one drama from their writers that always gets highlighted. While the better dramas/movies that the writers co-wrote were never publicized.
Han Ji-Hoon, I noticed specialize in war/thriller type of stories. He co-wrote Once Upon a Time in Seoul, Taegukgi, A time between Dog and Wolf, Running Wild, and that one Road No.1. As for the other co-writer, he specialize in long serial sitcoms. Odd combination.
I am more worried for the director of Dr. Jin than the writer lol. Han Heui, I hope he is a better director than a producer. Though he hasn't directed a drama for years. But the drama that he produced...Playful Kiss is one of them.

I like her for some inexplicable reason, but she's always been terrible at emoting; I remember watching her in Witch Yoo Hee where Jae Hee basically ran circles around her acting-wise. She's in that long line of extremely pretty A-list actresses who can't act for beans.
Oh yes, I agree about the bashing about the writers. They have written some truly terrible stuff; I think Han Ji Hoon did Road No. 1? But he also did Time Between Dog & Wolf and a host of great movies, so... I can understand the worry over the other writer, though, who did the schizophrenic Spy Myung Wol. I'm actually less worried about Han Hee, who has at least enough experience not to butcher a drama through his directing. Playful Kiss was problematic due more to its bland script than the direction.

Date: 2012-05-14 04:57 am (UTC)Yeah, Han Ga In, honestly, she does nothing for me in the beauty department. Because, though she looks pretty, she was so bland that she looks plain, and her voice, you can tell that she's a woman and not an early 20's girl OTL. I cringed in every scene she appears, do people just watch her standing their looking bland? Her new movie did so well as well.
Yeah, Han Ji Hoon did Road No.1, but I noticed most of the stuff he co-wrote are war/thriller related, so it says something about Dr. Jin. Spy Myung Wol had like 3 writers I think? The real culprit for that drama fails has to be the first writer that bailed out in the middle. Wiki didn't add the Jeon Hyeo-Jin ( other writer for Dr. Jin) but Hancinema added him into the staff of Spy Myung Wol. He co-wrote two long sitcoms. One spanned up to 300 eps and one up to 72 ep. Oh then good, cause Han Hee is the director, and not producer for Dr. Jin. I think, he should stick to directing instead of producing shows lol.
LOL, someone told me that Dr. Jin is gonna be produced by Lee Kim Productions, who produced Spy Myung Wol..., but they also produced What Happened in Bali, and Daemul.

Date: 2012-05-14 01:38 pm (UTC)Yeah, there were no other sageuk dramas airing in the same slot as MoonSun. It was also crazily promoted, and lovely to look at. On top of that, it's based on another novel by the author of the book that Sungkyunkwan Scandal was based on, and that was a real runaway hit despite the lackluster ratings. I often find that the little kids in sageuk dramas turn out to be even better than the adults, though; it's like Merchant Kim Man Deok, where little Shim Eun Kyung was amazing as the young Man Deok, but I lost interest the minute Lee Mi Yeon took over.
