Love Rain - episode 10

This episode was so cute that it must have spontaneously produced puppies somewhere in the Universe, I swear! Just as well, because I think the angst!hammer might just fall next week.



We start where we left off - with that mind-melting kiss. I love how ridiculously giddy he is and she's shy and uncertain but the way she looks at him when he takes her hand and interlaces them is adorable. It amazes me how open he can be about affection with her despite his FUBAR upbringing, how he can't stop touching her in some way throughout the episode - whether it's kissing and hand-holding or a simple lean. He is like an addict - he's never been in love before and never been loved back (romantically or otherwise - he parents are horrible as parents and Miho et al.'s 'affections' are hormonal crush and nothing more). It's like he just discovered affection and cannot have enough.






































On the phone, flirting and jealousy and being such darlings.





OMG, how adorable! Due to an understandable misunderstanding, he freaks she's in danger, rushes over there, climbs the fence etc etc to make sure again and a whole comedy of errors ensues. What I love is that even without any guideposts whatsoever of what makes a healthy, caring relationship, he tries so hard - not just his running over to check on her in the middle of the night, but even when he tries to open the car door for her (she gets out by herself before he manages to do that) or sitting there, with his ankle hurt, but still, matter-of-factly, taking off his jacket and covering her hair because it's wet from the shower and she might catch a cold (how different from Jun of few eps back who was bitching about his clothes getting wet and trying to hog the umbrella). I love that it's these gestures that make her shine so. In some ways, Jun is such a kid.

Busted! Heee, she finds out he can see into her room.





He gives her the ring he found (that was hers) and she tells him it's a couple's ring she was going to give the guy she liked. He asks her 'are you a kid? [pause] just give it to me.' Ahhhh, Jun.























I love their slow warmth...





Texting to each other and giggling like silly kids (I love how surly Jun is so high on happiness).





Seriously. How are they so functional and happy and adorable?

















Yoon Hee trying to break it off with In Ha. I love that it wasn't Hyejung's threats or attempted emotional manipulation (her lies that she and In Ha were planning to get back together are just...argh. I mean, she and In Ha have been separated since Jun was 10! And wouldn't have married except for a one-night stand and her lies that Yoon Hee died). It's her fear of further loss if she opens up (and probably her own illness). But faced with his trying to save her and almost losing him she finally abandons her caution...




















Bwahahaahaha jealousy! Also, serves you right, horrid sunbae!











Even in the middle of their fight he has to kiss her. Heeee. He honestly is so at a loss of how to function in a relationship.





























Ohhh, finally. I love how In Ha and Yoon Hee's getting together is intercut with Jun and Hana's getting together, interlaced hands to interlaced hands.

















Hana sneaks into Jun's room to get back the couple's ring she put on his desk (she really is pissed) but she drops the ring and he finds it and his face! And he puts it on, and look how happy he is. Awwwwww.
































Ohhhhh. Ahhhhhhhhhh, Meeeeelting...




















My favorite part. She tells him, a little hesitantly, "I like you." EEEEE! His face. JGS has a ridiculously expressive face. And then he tells her "then you put it [the ring] on me." Seriously, I am way way way melting here. There should be a new word for melting...

I know you're enjoying the heck out of this drama but could you tell me what you think of Yoona's acting? As a sometime fan of SNSD I'm so scared to hear the verdict :)

Better than expected, especially when it comes to the modern part, maybe because her character gives her more room for making expressions than the quiet 70s version.

Watching GHS in Absolute Boyfriend on tw tv now, and Yoona's acting is farrrrr better. I cannot remember how GHS did in BOF, but gosh, in Absolute Boyfriend, all she does is make awkward faces, and the dubbed dialogues don't help in making her character endearing at all (unlike the jdrama version).

She is quite good. And that is from someone who thought she was so appalling in Cinderella Man that I temporarily placed her on my 'never watch if this person is in it' list. She was fine as the 70s version but is beyond adorable as the modern version.

I agree, it is super cute, but if I know my kdrama, no way this ends well. Rule #82: the happier you are, the more tragic your tragedy. At the rate they're going, someone's going to go blind and/or have a puppy run away from home...

It reminds me of Spring Waltz, which was totally adorable (and Jun reminds me a lot of growly pianist of SW) and then had episodes and episodes of total angst and Jae Ha weeping on his knees.

I think so too...angst will prolly commence next week (although I'v already wanted to put a knife through Hye...shucks, I forgot her name. Well, that kick-ass gal who changed so much, I can't empathise with her anymore). But watching the previews for next week's episode gave me hope. *SPOILERSSSSS*I hope that Joon knew about Yoon Hee and In Ha's past by the time he came across his slapping mother in the hospital (?). If so, that would mean that at least he's not pushing Ha Na away because of their parents. That's a good start to the angsty portion already. I'm glad how fast things are moving, although it is going to be at the expense of cute!honest!rarehonesty! between Joon and Ha Na. Ep 9 was good, but ep 10 was daebak!

I am banking on older couple dying or something. I want my Jun and Hana happy happy happy! When her friend/housemate the Doc casually told Hana he's never seen anyone as healthy as her, I got paranoid. Too many brushes with kdrama misery :)

I was giggling and smiling when watching ep 10. Luckily i watch the episode alone, or else my family will think i am weird. Ahhhh, Seo Joon is soooooo cute. I love the part where he looks so happy and cannot help from smiling when Ha Na confesses.

From the preview, it was said that Seo Joon seldom drinks. He was so drunk in the next ep so i was wondering what makes him so upset. It definitely got to do with his parents but i wonder how much he knows. Does he know that Yoon Hee is Ha Na's mom? I hope he does not find out the truth too soon, i want to see more scenes of them dating.

I also hope that Sun Ho does not fall in love with Ha Na. Since it is very obvious he knows Seo Joon loves Ha Na and he seems to be very supportive of them.

My only complain is the stylist. JKS has been sick for a long period and has lost a lot of weight since the shooting of Love Rain for the modern era. He is now too thin and thus his frame looks smaller and to give him such makeup/feminine clothes / shoes ( the super high heels !!) really isn't too suitable. At times, i cannot help but think he looks too pretty. I never felt this way even though in Mary stayed out all night he had long hair, and i never felt it for Hwang Tae Kyung though they both have eyeliner. There are a few scenes where i love the clothes but some clothes/shoes really need a change.

This episode was really sweet....I thought it was a big gesture for Joon to run out of the hotel in his PJs, being the fashionista he is. =P I read somewhere regarding the various degrees of hand-holding/grabbing in Korea/kdramaland, and the fingers interlocked version is !!!!!

I've never felt his clothes too feminine but that scene of him leaning against Ha Na got me thinking. The picture would have been perfect if only his boots weren't high-heeled!!! It felt really odd....

WTF was with the high-heeled boots? I got used to the clothes but that is too much. I mean, JGS isn't 5'2" or anything, he doesn't need the boost.

I think in the preview we do see him see his Dad with Yoon Hee, but I don't think he knows she's Hana's mom. I bet he's drunk because of seeing that. Also, that adorable shot of them sleeping together (platonically - I bet it's the first time Jun had platonic sleepovers ever :P) is probably after he got so wasted.

I hope Sun Ho stays as the amused supportive friend. If they need a triangle, they can do it with sunbae (who looks freakishly like Kim Rae Won btw).

He was sick? Eeek. But yeah, agree on the stylist. Often he gives him stuff I'd wear, and I am a girly girl. I mean, high-heeled boots? WTF! It's not like JGS is short.

I seriously thought I was going to die of adorable. Jun and Hana make each other so happy, and there's nothing I love more in a ship. And watching Jun blundering his way into figuring out how to care for someone else is just the most rewarding thing to me. I especially love how both of them keep trying not to show how much they like each other--they fight their tendency to just grin like loons whenever they're around each other--but they're so bad at it, and it is so delightful.
