I want!!!! Now!!!! Bloody battles for the empire plus true love thrown in and a legendarily tragic end?! With my cdrama crush Peter Ho as the ultimate warrior alpha? Grabby grabby gimme!!!!

Though seeing that this is his second cdrama in a row where he is playing a matchless warrior in involved in a dynasty-ending civil war and devoted to a legendary beauty (only Xiang Yu had more brains than "period blond" (tm mookiehyun) Lu Bu), is he picking a (very hot but oddly specific) niche?

Anyway, the existence of this drama fills me with so much glee, I don't even mind Yu Zheng'z upcoming atrocity.

Yeah Yu Ji killed herself didnt she? and Xian Yu lost the war to Liu Bang. I read up on the chu han contention since that was the inspiration for History of a Salaryman. I wish it had followed through with it till the end instead of injecting the story with another original villain that wasnt nearly as interesting and also astoundingly sexist. Thats a gorg poster btw. I am not gonna watch this but is this story told from Xian Yu's perspective?

Well, they had to change stuff for Salaryman a lot anyway. Not only it's pretty much the first 'Liu Bang is a hero' portrayal I've seen (the man won a dynasty but lost the PR war. Not that it's surprising, seeing he did things like kick his own kids out of fleeing carriage so he could escape faster and have his flunkies convince his father to become a monk so there wouldn't be anyone more senior to him). Plus, I haven't watched Salaryman, but I doubt their version of Lu Zhi poisoned people and did gruesome tortures on other women in LB's life :)

Well, the two main characters are going to be XY and Liu Bang, so yeah.

OMG Liu Bang and Lu Zhi sound like a real pair of characters lol, esp Lu Zhi (Wiki just says she was notorious for being cruel but didnt give specifics). I would totally watch a drama with them as the lead with all their gruesome history. hopefully black comedy I love black humor. Yeah its true in Salaryman Bang and Yeo Chi were really sanitized. But the basic point of Chu Han is the battle between Xian Yu and Liu Bang and that was what I felt should have stayed in Salaryman instead of veering off course the way it did. They did kill off Woo Hee/Yu Ji though ;_;

Well, after Yu Ji killed herself and his force was decimated, his advisors wanted him to flee and regroup but he refused and stayed to fight to the death even though he knew what it would mean.

Lu Zhi - well, at one point after LB's death, she got his fave concubine, cut out her tongue, arms, legs, burned out her eyes, made her deaf by pouring mercury or similar into he ears, and threw her into a pigsty.

Thats really sad. I wonder why Yu Ji killed herself, is it known? Staying to fight to the death is way more dramatic and heroic though.

Apparently she killed herself doing a sword dance for him, because she didn't want (his feelings for her) to distract him from battle any more. That's hardcore. Though since dude went out and did ancient version of 'suicide by cop' asap, perhaps not well thought-out.

OMG Peter Ho in a drama...I've been suffering from Peter Ho dearth ever since watching Summer's Scent last week and can't find him in any other dramas! Usually Chinese epic dramas are too long for my attention span, but I think I'll be able to manage this one...seeing who's starring in it :D
