The Marriage Plot - move over, Mrs. Bennet
Apr. 1st, 2012 11:39 pm
The replacement for tvN's late, lamented Shut Up Flower Boy Band is the lighthearted romcom The Marriage Plot. In a set-up more suited to a weekend family drama (not that this is a bad thing), the mother of four single daughters schemes to get them husbands via cohabitation (no, I have no idea how she convinces the individuals in question).

I am mainly tuning in for Lee Kyu Han, who I have been fangirling for years, finally landing a leading-man role (I think he's ridiculously underrated - he's got great chops and is super-hot. I honestly have no idea why he's not a bigger star). Plus, another of the four bachelors is played by the brilliant Lee Min Woo, who won my heart in The Princess' Man. I am not familiar with the three actress who play three secondary sisters, and am only barely familiar with the leading lady, Kang Hye Jung. I thought she was miscast in Miss Ripley, but that was a flawed (if interesting) drama, so I am willing to give her another chance. Plus, I believe in real life she's married to Tablo, so mad props to her for keeping her sanity with that whole lunatic diploma thing going on.
Have the official MV, sung by Kim Hyun Joong:
So cute! I am in!

Date: 2012-04-02 03:51 am (UTC)I think it's a crime LKH has never had a leading role before this, and Yunho and Kim Hyun Joong and Changmin and a bunch of other idols, who are excellent at idolling but suck at acting, all already have. Bizarre.
I honestly think this sounds like some sort of a female Ojakgyo Brothers and should be a KBS family drama of 50 eps :)

From what I remember he was sporting horrible flowery shirts and flare pants at one point, LOL. I have the drama somewhere with terrible Chinglish subs.
I'm glad they're not turning it into a 50 ep family drama, though. :P The problem with those family dramas is that they always get so long, draggy and makjang. I'm definitely in the mood for something fast-paced, quirky and cute right now.

Date: 2012-04-02 03:56 am (UTC)50 might be too much (the only 50 ep drama that didn't drag for me was Gloria) but 16 is a bit too little for four separate stories. They should have split the baby and gone for 24 :)

Date: 2012-04-03 11:22 am (UTC)This though does seem hilariousm the heroine was in Flowers for my life that was amazing and underrated and LKH yes finally
a bigger role for him. (he was swoony in QSS)
I'm guessing the mom will do something sneaky, maybe lock them in in the same apartment/house or something else hilarious.
Have you seen Hero? The OCN series, it's amazing.

Date: 2012-04-03 09:01 pm (UTC)Of course Hye Jung and Tablo are the best. I loved the stories he told about her on Strong Heart last week.

I really like the mother character. There's something strange about her back story with Lee Kyu Han's father character.
