K2H - ep 3

First, to get two nitpicks out of the way: (1) can we please get rid of the horrifyingly cringe-worthy English scenes? Seriously. Just make them all evil Koreans or something and (2) the villain. I was amused by him for the first two eps but by now I want him kept to a minimum (which they thankfully seem to be doing) or, even better, to disappear entirely to go be in a Batman movie.

But everything else is super super love! I continue to love the insane chemistry between Jae Ha and Hang Ah. Every time they have one of their fights, I am left wondering which one is going to crack first and pin the other against the wall.

You can just tell that JH is very drawn to HA even though he doesn't realize it - just watch how jealous (again!) he gets when he sees her horsing around with Shi Kyung. Or this scene:












Is it hot here or is it just me?

And of course, both of them are so good for going for the jugular. Exhibit 1 (though I loved that when she cried, he totally was taken aback, he clearly expected a verbal smackdown and, to his credit, looked horrified. Temper, temper, JH!)




Exhibit 2 - this was so good! She is as good as verbal evisceration, as he is.




One of the things, I really love is that while he can be stunningly immature when the mood hits him (and clearly it's a deliberate choice), he does have plenty of guts (as the scenes with the bomb and the UN both demonstrate in their different ways) when it matters and that royal temper which actually also comes in useful. I think all he needs is a catalyst - a crisis situation or, alternatively, danger to someone he cares for.

In conclusion, you stand up for your woman, Jae Ha!

The villain's scenes are progressively getting more and more bizarre. They don't fit the tone of the show at all.

I don't mind them in small dozes (I am a comics fan after all) and I can see them because the whole thing has a manga vibe to me, but yes, less is best with that guy. I mean, what next, setting himself on fire?

I will put up with him, however, for the certainty that you know JH is going to confront him.

I love K2H as well. I wasn't sure about LSJ at first (I found him too soft and young looking) but he looks very manly and intense here. After the end of episode 3, I just had to watch episode 4 RAW to get my fix.

And, yeah, the villain does seem to have come straight from a Batman movie. Really weird. Speaing of the villain, you wouldn't happen to know the name of the place where he met Jae Ha's brother by any chance? It was so grand and gorgeous. I wish historical dramas could film in such a palace. The one they use most often in saeguks seems much smaller in scale and its rooms are not very luxurious.

I love Hang Ah. She's tough but also has a girly side that I find charming. And I was laughing so hard at her weak damsel act at the end of episode three. Her voice! The way she kind of tiptoed in the snow! So funny. I can't wait for Jae Ha to really fall like a ton of bricks. He's already much more attracted to her than he lets on but a solid attachment will make it all even better for us :)

K2H is the only airing drama I'm following for the moment. I plan on jumping on the Rooftop Prince train once the hero stops pining for his dead Princess/doppleganger and I'll wait to start Love Rain until the drama is over.

Right now I'm in the middle of a Brain marathon. I downloaded the With S2 subs a while ago but only got around to watching the drama yesterday evening. I watched the first 4 episodes back to back and only stopped because it was 2 am and I had to get up at 7 to go to work this morning. So good. Complex, multi-dimensional characters and an OTP that's shaping up tu be crazy good. I hope the drama doesn't lose stream as it goes on. I'm off to watch episode 5 now ^^

I agree, normally LSG looks like the quintessential boy-next-door - pretty nice and pretty young and pretty unthreatening. But here, yowza! I am impressed (and a little in lust).

I don't know where they filmed that scene but I agree that it was majestic. I wonder if it's CGI - there is a bunch of CGI stuff in this show, like the NK train station etc.

I think JH is really smitten but he refuses to admit it - he's not particularly introspective and, also, I think she is so far from his imagined ideal of a simpering bimbo mouthing 'oppa' that his brain cannot process the attraction. But I think he's a goner. The psycho chemistry doesn't hurt. I think HA is a bit more self aware of her attraction and is deliberately trying to tamp it down.

I am pretty sure RT guy will soon stop pining (and he already has great chemistry with HJM) because the gal is super-rotten.

Brain sounds great, but is it a medical drama? I am iffy on those. Squeamish :)

I understand the lust thing. Who would have thought it of LSG? The haircut does wonder for him and he really got in character. Darn, I might have to eat crow and watch Gumiho to see him in something else.

I hadn't considered the palace might be CGI. I'll watch the episode again (no hardship there!) and look for signs of it.

And yeah, I agree that HA is more self-aware about her attraction to JH. That's also why his cruel words at the end of episode 2 hurt her so much I think. And boy, he sais some really cruel things!

Good news about Rooftop. That means I can start watching it soon. Heartstring had the male lead cling to secondary girl much too long for my taste and I ended up never starting it.

Re-Brain, if you're squeamish, I would hesitate to recommend it becauseit's not anoly a medical drama but it's a medical drama that deals with brain surgery. One of the first scenes you see is the male lead performing surgery and the cutting of the skull and the prodding almoast made me FFW. They didn't pull any punches. The drama is worth it but I understand how it would put people off.

I love the hero. He's the type that's usually stuck as second lead. You know, the ambitious and morally ambiguous one that competes with the hero for the heroine and a top position at work? Kind of like Ma Jun in Baker King. I usually find that type of character more interesting than a goody two shoes hero so I'm in heaven here. He's not always likeable but he's written very consistently and I can never bring myself to hate him even when he does something cold or cruel. Plus all the characters are very complex and feel three dimensional. Good stuff here. But almost nobody talked about it on the net. And yeah, there's the brain surgery thing that can be hard to take at first. I've finished episode 10 and I've gotten used to it but the first episodes were hard.

Well, I've finished Brain and although I have a couple of issues with it, I gobbled it up like crazy and I'm thinking about the characters and their motivations even after watching the last episode so I can say it thoroughly engaged me. I really loved that they never really took the predictable route. It's not exactly romance heavy but it has one of the best declaration and first kiss scenes I've seen in a drama.

Re-Gumiho, is LSG's character even worse than he is in Brilliant Legacy in the first 4 eps? Because I managed to stomach him in BL so if it's on the same level, I'll be okay.

Re-JH, yes absolutely. I love how taken aback he was that she got so upset. It's one of the reasons I didn't want to punch him in the face through my tv screen :o) OK, I'm off to watch episode 4 with subs now. I've watched it RAW already but it's not the same.

Re: gumiho. Well, the difference is that in BL he wasn't a coward. Bastard, yes, coward no. MMV about how OK you are with it.

The dialogue in K2H is wonderful, so enjoy the subs! I especially loved JH's speech to HA in the bathroom.
