Rooftop Prince ep 3

RP continues to be a breezy, hilarious delight (which, nonetheless, knows when to go for the emotional jugular - that last scene, ouch!). It's not a particularly meta-able drama, but it gives me a couple of hours of pleasure each week.
Yoochun continues to rock his role and is, by turns, funny and oddly vulnerable (I love that he fit so well into his society and was so sure and alpha but now he's utterly befuddled and often cowed by tiny tiny Han Ji Min). His chemistry with HJM continues great (the scenes at the fair were to die for).
My one problem is the bad guys. About the most exciting thing I can say about them is that Tae Mu is kinda hot for a murderer. I don't mind hissable villains but I do mind when they are dull. Of course, if you remove the chaebol family plot, then this drama would be a pure sitcom like a much much MUCH better version of Vampire Idol, so I suppose that's OK.
Anyway, it's adorable, it made me laugh repeatedly, I got misty-eyed a time or two, and it's fully subbed on viki. What's not to love?

Date: 2012-03-29 03:41 am (UTC)I was expecting pure sitcom with fluffy angst all along with the whimsical trailers so I'm happily satisfied. But I totally didn't expect the little sniffles this ep. It's mostly PYC being good and nailing his scenes. I'm very bored by the evil fam members though and I find LTS cringeworthy, giving me the same boring evil smizing face the whole ep. I'm not sure why I haven't lost all hope on JYM's evilsis though. Somehow she still comes off as believably a (rotten) person and can go somewhere interesting when written so cliched.

Date: 2012-03-29 03:54 am (UTC)All the family is boring - the Grandma (who should just go back to Brilliant Legacy), the cuckoo aunt, the smarmy one-note Dad, Tae Mu (you are right, LTS isn't doing much, but, tbh, there is not much for him to do), boring stepmom of HJM even JYM (she's believably bad but also one note). I wish they'd all time travel to another drama.
I think PYC is going to turn out one of the rare idols who's genuinely good on-screen.

Date: 2012-03-29 04:29 am (UTC)I'll watch on just for PYC alone, obviously. I like Prince has normal dude hormones, not the brightest bulb but not full on spoiled silly. It makes sense he's so obsessed with his dead pretty rotten princess, yet we can see his slow little head adapting and making himself useful just enough.... even if it's for omurice. That is so making sense for a grown boy to experience a growling tummy for the first time in his life.
