No, nothing bad happens but LR is sheer cinematic swoon and so steeped in romance, it makes me giddy.

It's impeccably shot, sheer poetry in motion (the way all of YSH dramas are. I think Spring Waltz in the most gorgeous drama I have ever seen) and it immerses you in sheer, swoony, pure romanticism. No dramas convey that perpetual swoon, that state of mind that brings back my own heady early days with Mr. Mousie, the way YSH's dramas do.

I love it - when is the last time you saw an unabashed romance on screen? But I can see why it has abysmal ratings (and why it will do well in Japan). It is precisely its old-fashioned theme and sensibIlity that appeals to me, but it is also what is dooming it in the ratings (and why Snow Queen and Spring Waltz did similarly poorly in Korea). It is a type of drama which is not in style any more.

But it is the style of drama I love. So I will treasure it all the more for its rarity and for a chance to add a new drama to this dying breed.

Proper post with caps coming when I am not on my iPhone. But I couldn't wait and wanted to gush.

I lack the patience to truely appreciate the season dramas (I have seen Winter Sonata (one spisode left) and half of Summer Scent) and I rally enjoyed the 1st episode of Love Rain a lot!

I think I will save this up for some long rainy days because I don't want the mood to be interupted. I love Spring Waltz too (which ursurped WS as my fav season drama) for its unapologetic romanticism.

It is such a perfect mood piece, so yes, best in one gulp.

Yeah I told the girls on Omona (Jang Geun Suk was saying he'd do the shuffle dance if the drama got over 40% in the ratings which is LOL ridiculous. esp when we all know that he'd shuffle for 2%) the same thing that this may be the four seasons guy but this is not winter sonata and we're not 2002 anymore. that shit is played out by now. this type of drama is mostly popular amongst the ahjummas in korea. (I think it will do better in Japan, they do appreciate their quiet mood pieces) Or I guess if you're not an old lady, it requires you to have an old soul. I wont be watching it after all but I'll follow your posts on it (and if dramabeans does recaps i may read them)

I am about as big a fan of this as you are going to find (I think it's pretty much perfect) and there is no way this is going to be a hit in Korea. It's about a decade too late for that. They'll be lucky if they hit double digits. It's going to join Snow Queen, Tree of Heaven and Spring Waltz as dramas that do much better abroad (and appeal to me like mad) while flopping domestically.

Love Rain reminds me of the old korean watching drama days. The years where all korean dramas were about romance, and lost love and made you cry buckets of tears. This definitely bring backs old memories.

Yes. It feels like a lost drama from 2003 or earlier. I love it.

Ooh, this sounds like something I need to check out! I'm in the mood for swoony, old-fashioned romance lately.

Icon!

Yes, and you get two love stories for the price of one - the first four eps are following the unsuccessful love story of the main couple's parents (both sets of lovers are played by JGS and Yoona) and the rest are about the kids.

Thanks for rec'ing Spring Waltz! I looked into a few years, but thought the pace was too slow and never really got into it.

I am LOVING Love Rain though and am developing a mood pieces. So I gave watching Spring Waltz a try again and...it's WONDERFUL. Ahaha, also helps that I've been a Han Hyo Joo fan since Shining Inheritance.

Hi! *waves*

SW is one of my favorite dramas (possibly my favorite romantic drama) and is, IMO, ridiculously underrated. So I am so glad you like.
