Hero (in a dystopian future, one man accidentally acquires super-powers and decides to fight corruption):

Fashion King (bright young things try to pursue their passion for fashion and each other):

I like them both. FK has bright colors, quick cutting, and what looks like to-the-hilt performances by Yoo Ah In and Shin Se Kyung. But I confess my heart belongs to Hero, which had a premise designed to appeal to me (and highly unusual for kdramas) and whose teaser had a sharp, unsettling, surreal vibe that grabbed me and didn't let go.

OCN's had a pretty good run lately with Vampy Proz and TEN. Hero looks very much like a nice continuation for those. Sharp. :)

I'll be checking out both. Dang, it's going to rain dramas soon. Someone know how to cram more hours in a day? Or possibly add another day... or two to a week? Preferably Saturdays and/or Sundays... XD

Well, nothing was good until now except Shut Up, unless you count PadamPadam as this year's drama. So a little compensation is good.

hero looks awesome, but since i know none of the cast i'm a little less enthused.

that "americaaaaaaa!" made me lol. (damn i want yuri's yellow coat, am i gonna be coveting the fashion on this show or what).

the cinematography for both shows looks super, idk if it's new cameras or technology or budget or art directors or what, but dramas are stepping up in that department too, nice.

You might have seen the male lead of Hero as the lead in Ruler of Your Own World or Nonstop2. Han Chae Ah, the heroine, was in I Believe in Love. We'll see how it goes then.

Yup, I noticed the cable dramas have been driving the quality of cinematography up, it seems.

nope, never seen them! it probably won't matter for a show like that. SUPERHEROES. damn, kdrama superheroes. O_O

which is weird, because you'd think low ratings would equal fairly low budgets.

But people pay for cable subscriptions, plus there are more ads. So maybe that is how it's working out?

fair point. and now that i think about it they can't be that poor, since lots of huge stars are perfectly happy to work on cable and they can't come cheap.

Not really. I mean, they pay for cable but that's not where the money's coming from. OCN and tvN have worked really hard to carve their own identities, resulting in some cult dramas, which drew the chaebols' interests, and now CJ owns both, making huge investments.

Hero looks quite pleasing...I will have to watch it.

So neat seeing Yoo Ah In playing a character with so much emotion I'm used to seeing him play such dark characters!

I know, it's quite a change seeing YAI playing a spaz.

Oh that teaser for Hero looks delightful, thanks for the clip, that's the only one I missed. (Saw Fashion King's on DCgall.) Let's hope it's another hit for cable, the pilot ep. for OCN's TEN was a revelation for me last year.

Hero does look wonderful - I like the slick, almost-Matrixy aesthetic, I am obsessed with dystopias and love superhero stories, plus YDG is seriously underrated. I am quite excited.

I checked out the teasers for Can Love Become Money - have you seen those? I am quite disappointed.

To be honest, I didn't even know about it until you (and misterX) mentioned it. :P Not a blip on DCgall's radar.

YDG has that offbeat quality that's endearing in the right projects, but he doesn't fit into what's in demand right now, at least not as a lead. Hope Hero's just the thing for him (and us).

I do hope Hero is good - the idea is wonderful if done right, but it can also go spectacularly wrong.
