Kingyo Club - I love it!

He's alienated and she's bullied. And thus we have our OTP of the angsty, atmospheric teen drama Kingyo Club. I think I am in love.
The respective beginnings of their day:
This actor is quite good-looking, if much too young for me to have a thing for.
He discovers her being bullied:
They have lovely chemistry and I adore the way jdramas do love stories when they decide to do them. This drama is rather short - 11 eps of 20 or so minutes each, but that just means it won't be draggy. I highly recommend. You may think of it as a sort of less rosy Nobuta AU.

Also, any recommendations? I am craving a two boys, one girl love triangle plot set in high school with plenty of jealousy. Or boy-girl best friend story and the realize they are in love with each other kind of story. Manga, drama, movie genre all okay.

How about Otomen and Gentlemen's Alliance. And Kare First Love and Peach Girl.
Sensual Phrase doesn't have much school and is super x-rated but jealousy galore and highschool age.

Date: 2012-01-13 02:15 am (UTC)Sadly, yes. Bullying is a huge issue in many Japanese schools. Why don't the teachers speak up? Most schools in Japan aren't run by the government, but rather by the parents. Parents have a huge amount of power in the Japanese school system; and sadly most of the children that bullying are the children of the PTA members who rule the school. If a teacher speaks up about bullying, they could be fired and more or less black listed by the better paying schools. Why doesn't the girl speak up? That's her character and you'll find out more about her home life later. But also - if she spoke up, the parents would most likely have her expelled for "getting in the way of other students learning" and once you are expelled from a school in Japan, it's very hard to get another school to take you in. At least that's my understanding.

I believe that was meant to be red paint. But, I do agree that the bullying is crazy in this series!

Honestly though, this was probably my fave drama when it came out. Hits all the right spots. And just wait, the angst factor (and shocks) will keep coming!
Oh and whoever asked for a drama with two guys, one girl might want to try Asuko March! where the main female lead joins an all-boy technical engineering college and is obviously surrounded by a lot of ikemen but it's adorable and the two male leads are soooooo good.
