OMG, this was the series that decided it for me that Hu Ge seems to love playing 1/2 of a doomed OTP. But such good acting. I think Hu Ge really grew in that series.
Also, I had a slight crush on the guy who played Hu Ge's character's older brother in the past. So fatally inclined to do what's righteous even if it hurts. :'( It was so weird too that Hu Ge's character was very similar to his Yang Liu Lang character in the Yang Family filmed earlier. Hu Ge's like Johnny Depp with Hunter Thompson in that he seems to carry around characters he played previously that seemed to have personally impacted him and they leak over into subsequent acting jobs.

Now that you mention Liu Lang, I can totally see the similarities.
