Saw Casanova and am in love. It reminded me of those Congreve, Garrick or Sheridan plays that I love so much: witty and twisty and tongue in cheek and funny. And kind and romantic and as light as a perfect souffle. What a real impossible delight. Does it have anything to do with real Casanova? Not at all, and I couldn't care less.

Also, after seeing this, I think Heath Ledger is the perfect Richard for Sheridan's Rivals. Or to be any Congreve hero actually. I've actually thought he was hot since Roar, but here, wearing a splendid waistcoat, powdered hair and heeled shoes, tongue firmly in cheek (sometime his and sometime somebody else's), he is completely irresistable.

Here is a former post on the movie, with pictures from it.

Also, I just got Tiramisu and Turn Left Turn Right because of [livejournal.com profile] koalathebear's posts about them. Any other recs for Asian movies? I don't like them too abstract and sweet is nice. I don't mind violence but if it's only fighting I get bored.

And a last random note. I am toying with the somewhat odd idea of having all 100 of my icons be thematically the same (e.g. from the same fandom). I am thinking Howl's Moving Castle because there are many gorgeous ones there. Is that too crazy and will I miss my others ones though? Hmmm.

Hee! Glad you enjoyed Casanova - I thought it was jolly lighthearted fun and I enjoyed it. I really liked what they set up with Francesca Bruni as well.

And you know what - I just bought Tiramisu and Turn Left Turn Right as well! :) My love for Takeshi Kaneshiro is growing by leaps and bounds. Tonight I'm going to actually watch TLTR, but I watched and reviewed Tiramisu last weekend. It was adorable.

Since I recently just changed my layout for the new year, I went a bit nuts and I replaced about half of my icons with ones that fit my new color-scheme. Fortunately I have such a large collection of icons that it wasn't too hard (and I could just swap most of the fandom icons), only a bit time consuming. I'll be very interested to see what you do!

Yes, I liked Francesca as well. She was fun without being annoying. But it made me have such a yen to see one of Congreve's plays filmed. Or maybe "She Stoops to Conquer." Because I see that it can be done right.

I ended up reading your Tiramisu post and it was the second reason why I got it. It sounded so delightful. I've seen very little non-Bollywood Asian cinema (CTHD, Hero and HoFD as well as some Stephen Chow, some Wong Kar-Wai, a couple of Korean films and Infernal Affairs) so I am looking for more recs.

I am probably going to end up doing an icon mix. I am going to find a number of nature icons but then also get 50+ of thematically same icons. I am bored with the ones I have and it's time for an overhaul. But I won't have time for that until the weekend.

Sorry, I posted that last one too soon. My love for Takeshi is growing because I bought Returner last weekend and loved it. Here is the review - it is just pretty and fun. I also bought something else starring TK called Young Policeman in Love which is from 1995 I think - no idea if it's any good, but I'll let you know when I've watched it!

I've owned Returner for ages and never got around to watching it. Hmmmm, now I simply must do so.

I suppose it would help if I actually gave you the correct link for Returner. Sorry!

I love Returner. It's such a rip off of all sci fi genre movies, but Kaneshiro somehow makes it worth watching.

I just bought it for the high-minded reason of TK in a leather coat. :P

While I haven't actually seen it, I've heard great things about 2046. I've also seen the truly freaky The Eye, which is an excellent horror movie (leave it to the Japanese to scare the crap out of everyone).

You'd think 100 icons would be enough, but I still find myself changing mine out constantly. I'm such an icon whore.

Icon! *dies* Hmmm, can I be in on the deal?

I want to watch 2046 because I've heard really good things about it too. I am a wimp so stay away from horror flicks because they scare me.

Sounds like me when it comes to horror movies. I hear they're actually remaking The Eye into an American movie, because, you know, they feel a need to do these things.

Re icon: Considering the state of his shirt in his most recent photo shoot, I think the fangirls have already gotten there.

You've seen it already. I posted it yesterday. Both he and Padalecki look like someone has been yanking at the necks of their t-shirts and Jensen's looks like someone was chewing on it.

The person chewing on it...that would be me. I'm not apologizing to him either.

Oh! I'm glad you enjoyed the movie, I'm looking forward to seeing it! I saw the trailer a couple of weeks ago and it seems romantic but funny and witty at the same time!

It is. It totally is.

Love the icon, btw.

Cool! Here it's going to be released later this month and I'm so going to see it! :)

I dunno, maybe have only pairing ones, or only Bolly ones, or only witty ones... But not all one fandom. You have so many. Bolly icon denotes something about Somebody Khan, or whatever. Anything Firefly is a heads-up for that, and anything bookish means, well, bookish. It's nice to know what you're looking at before you hunker down to read, which I do anyhow. Read, I mean.

Hmm, that's a good point. Thanks!

I guess I am just tired of most of my icons.
