Full of pictorial goodness
Jan. 3rd, 2006 04:43 pmThe movie I am most looking forward to is Tristan and Isolde, starring James Franco, Sophia Miles and Rufus Sewell. I like the trailer, but considering I love the story so much I would have watched it even if it was enacted by frogs doing stick figures, I absolutely can't wait. I also can't wait to read the badfic the film will inspire. Any recs for T&I novels. I remember reading "The Dark Chalise" (I think) a long time ago and loving it.
So, in honor of the movie:
Poster:

Awwww:

The fangirls are coming. Run!

Tristan never knew his beloved was into bondage:

Cute:

Isolde. Channeling Eowyn:

Middle Ages. The time people were so conservative they had sex with their clothes on:

And before the invention of hair-brushes:

Stealth!

Isolde trying to burn through Tristan's clothes with the power of her stare:

Wouldn't they catch their death of cold?

My favorite pic:

Ooooh, angst. This fangirl laps it up. Well, either that or he is missing his chapstick:

Don't remember the artist:

Waterhouse:

Sidney Meteyard:

N.C. Wyeth:

DG Rossetti:

Louis Rhead:

Arthur Rackham:

August Spier:

Erns Fuchs:

Val Princep:

William Morris:

Edward Burne-Jones:

Edmund Leighton Blair:

John Duncan:

In completely different picture news, pictures from Battlestar Galactica's 2.11 ep "Resurrection Ship."
And a thousand shipper voices scream:

But not as loudly as when K/L crowd gets a look at this one:

Yes Billy, there is a Santa Claus. Or at least canon A/R:

"There is room only for one tough as nails fightin' female on this show, bitch!"

It's a tribute to Tricia Helfer that I so much prefer her as Gina than as Six. Nothing like suffering to build some character:

And to create an affinity for weapons:

Baltar obviously agrees with me. Who'd ever think the good doctor would actually care for someone other than himself?

So not a threesome with twins Baltar always fantasized about:

"Dammit boys. The cast of Galactica is so much cuter than us. We are doomed."

Baltar: "Why do I always get stuck with alpha females?"
Starbuck: "Great, even on a new ship I can't escape this weasel"
Cain: "Hmmm, this Baltar is kinda cute"

No, not Helo, dammit! Take the gun away from his pretty head!

And beating up Chief is tantamount to kicking Mother or puppies or kittens. Don't you dare, extras of the week!

Mmm, whose sexy back and tattooed arm is this? Helo's? If not, can we save the random cute crew member?

And in conclusion, a lot of pictures of buff Gerard Butler as King Leonidas in a movie version of the story of the battle of Thermopilae. Yay! Movie TPTB have been good to me!

Re: Adama and Roslin. A little respite from doom and responsibility isn't a bad thing for either and there isn't anyone else suitable on their level for either. I doubt they would be Romeo and Juliet but a semi-casual relationship based on respect and understanding I can see. If it wasn't for that pesky terminal illness though...Hm.

Date: 2006-01-03 10:12 pm (UTC)I don't think I like Mark much though. I just can't see him as a noble wronged party the way I do Arthur.

Date: 2006-01-03 10:14 pm (UTC)OTOH, it could be that I am too influenced by the Wagner opera where Koenig Marke has really amazing music and is always sung by a great bass-baritone whose voice I usually adore.

Date: 2006-01-03 10:49 pm (UTC)I guess I've read too many versions where Mark was eeeeevil. And honestly, in the version where he stabs Tristan sneakily, he is really not the most noble of men by that action alone. Moral of the story: if you marry a much younger, prettier wife make sure the hot guy who actually won her is sent away on some really really long trip.

This is hysterical! Hee!
I'm looking forward to Tristan & Isolde since I saw the trailer at apple.com! And James Franco, hmm... yummy!
Oh! I've seen some images of Gerard Butler in it that movie you mention... he looks totally fit as muscled for the part! check this out! Hee! or here, where you can find several screencaps... ^^

Date: 2006-01-03 11:33 pm (UTC)Yeah, after seeing GB look in the link I posted and in your links (the caption is hilarious), I can't wait. Even if the movie is awful, it will have so much to compensate a fangirl.
Love the new Helo icon.

Date: 2006-01-03 11:46 pm (UTC)Oh! Definitely! This flick is a must see... romance, angst, james franco, beautiful costumes...
Hee! GB look is totally funny, I know! The movie is going to suck big time, I've got a feeling! but he has already done so many awful movies (and some lovely as well, I love Dear Frankie) that seein one more won't melt my corneas! Hee! I mean... I saw Troy! The movie was awful but, the eyecandy was incredibly good! ^^
That GB web, where the images are, is in Spanish but they have a huge collection of GB images.... ^^
I made the Helo icon when I realized I didn't have one! Now... a bit of shameless self-promotion ^^ ... it you want, I made a post with all the icons I made in 2005... there are lots, you must have seen most of them (like the Farscame ones and stuff) but the Helo icon is there as well! Link to my huge icon post

Re; 300. I have a HUGE weakness for sword-and-sandals movies, and I actually enjoyed Troy (which was no masterpiece but pulpy fun with lots of eye candy), so can't wait. And yes, Dear Frankie was lovely.

Who am I trying to foo? We both know that as soon as I see the new bsg episode I'll be screencapping like a madwoman LOL... Seriously, I want to make icons from other stuff, like more farscape ^^, ... hee!

Date: 2006-01-04 02:34 am (UTC)Sadly not an A/R shipper so no glee from those pictures for me, but it'll be fun to see BSG once more even if I got a wee bit disenchanted with it at the end of the last season.

Date: 2006-01-04 02:42 am (UTC)And that one pic, Isolde definitely has someone in her death ray eyes.
I like doomed romance for some reason. Call me sadistic. There's just something wonderful about tragedy, probably because I can write TOMES about it afterwards. Tristan and Isolde was really the Irish retelling of Lancelot and Guinevere (albeit I always HATED Guinevere). Since I was no Guinevere fan in the books, I actually prefer the Tristan and Isolde version. There's just something appealing about the whole "angst and yearning over someone you can't have" that has even won over this cynics heart.

Date: 2006-01-04 03:43 am (UTC)There is something more innocent about T&I than Lancelot and Guinevere. I don't have Gwen but I definitely prefer Isolde. Maybe because I find Mark repellent, maybe because she doesn't have a chance. But yeah, can't wait for the angsty goodness of the movie. I am just surprised there aren't more movi versions. You'd think the story is pretty cinematic.

Date: 2006-01-04 05:56 am (UTC)I could never get much into the "love" story though, because they don't actually fall in love but have that love forced onto them through a potion. I just don't find that very engaging.
