Two casting rumors - one sublime, one not so

First off, Koala posted that it is rumored that Jo In Sung and Ha Ji Won are considering being leads in the upcoming The King, a drama by the Damo PD (!!!!!) about a Northerner and a Southerner who fall in love.

We pause while I issue a primal screen. I am not sure what I would do to ensure that happens, but it possibly involves human sacrifice. Jo In Sung is arguably my favorite Korean actor and I have been dying for him to come back to dramas for years (I believe his last drama was in 2005). I love Ha Ji Won. But, more importantly, JIS/HJW are one of my most favorite ever on-screen pairings (in Something Happened in Bali) and one which I most want to see together again.

I need this, Universe!

In other casting rumors, as per dramabeans, Joo Won is being considered for secondary lead in Moon That Embraces the Sun. Now, I adore Joo Won, but all I can think of is why is he not the main lead!!! He is equally famous to Kim Su Hyun (who is first lead) and he looks old enough for Han Ga In. Booooo! Also, I love him much better. This is nightmare casting for me.

hmm, am I the only one who doesn't think KSH and JW look that different in age? maybe the fact that i know they're the same age irl is influencing me but I always kind of figured that Joowon looked pretty young as well, esp. when compared to Eugene in Baker King since his face is so round LOL KSH also looks on the young side but I figure his face is ambiguous enough and his acting charismatic enough (from what I recall of Will It Snow) for the character to work. I also tend to prefer KSH's acting to JW's so I guess I'll just wait and see if the casting works out. Hopefully it will, Han Gain also looks pretty young for her age so I'm going to cross my fingers and hope there's chemistry/they don't look too awkward.

I don't know, the big problem for me isn't liking JW more than KSH (because I like KSH's just fine even if I prefer JW, so provided he has a cool character, it will be OK) but that HGI looks young, sure. But not young enough to be KSH's otp. There are plenty of younger actresses to pick or, alternatively, older actors. It's just a weird combo.

I suppose. I can't say much about DH since I gave up on it but seeing his role in WISFC (where he appeared a lot more mature/older than his DH counterpart, imo) I think KSH is one of the ones for which a good hairstyle/outfit/character can work wonders. Hopefully the sageuk garb will age him up some- generally I find that saegeuk getups generally tend to either make an actor look considerably older or expose them as a total babyface (aka Song Joongki LOL).

+ Yeah, admittedly it is a weird combo. For me it'd be awkward with either JW or KSH w/ HGI but I'm hoping for the best because I love all three individually as well. Who knows. maybe the writing/characterization can make up for the discrepancies in the cast. :/

Dude I love KSH. Dunno who Joo Won is but the nightmare casting for me is HGI. Really cant see her having chemistry w anyone except maybe her hubby by default.

See, I love HGI (thought she had great chemistry with mmmm Tae Sung in Bad Guy) but. BUT. I love KSH but the two of them are utterly mismatched. She needs an older leading man or he needs a younger leading lady. As it is, this is just weird.

I think Taesung somehow created enough chemistry on his own for the both of them >_< Kind of like Cha Seunghyo in Who Are You because interestingly I also view Go Ara as a younger version of HGI.

I'm watching Ojakyo Family to find out who Joo Won is and I love his dynamic wih UE... see, we need someone younger like that for the two guys.

I can't understand why Jo In Sung is not more popular than he is and is not in more dramas. He is gorgeous and an extremely charismatic and talented actor.

He's actually super popular and he hasn't been in dramas since 2005 because of making movies, which are more prestigious. But for my fangirl self, I want him to come back to dramas!

Ah, that would explain why I haven't seen him in anything else - I don't watch too many Korean movies (I've watched a hanful of weird indie ones at the free Korean movie night in Tribeca but not much else beyond that...I might be missing out though if Jo In Sung is in them!)

Ok, making Joo Won 2nd lead to KSH would be sort of adding insult to injury.

I've nothing against KSH, he's a talented young actor but imho JW is better. He's been wonderful in Ojakgyo Bros and definitely does not look like a teenager.
