If you are looking for a swoony romantic movie with two really hot people, may I recommend "Three Steps Above Heaven," a Spanish adaptation of an Italian best-seller. (The novel has also been adopted into an Italian version but since I haven't seen it, I cannot comment on it).

Tres Metros' narrative revolves around a love story between two young people who couldn't be more different - Babi is an upper-class good girl with spine and Hache is a violent, troubled young man who is heading for a likely future in jail (and I like that he really is a headcase, not a movie version of a very curable bad boy). Their attraction is vivid but can their relationship work? And, since this is not an American movie, the answer is no, it can't. His volatility and penchant for fights finally drive her away - she still may love him but she begins to believe they cannot have any sort of a future. And he can't do anything but her go, despite still loving her, because it's too late. it's tragic and very awesome in its wangst. Apparently there is a sequel in the works. Mmmm.

have you seen the male lead for the italian version? he's ridiculously hot, and his eyes make me weak at the knees. ;)

it's been a while since i watched the italian version, but i remember it being very shippy, and all the things you liked about this version was present in it.

So I saw this movie a month or two ago and vaguely remember thinking that this would be totally up your alley. ;)

I was also reminded of the fact that the Koreans don't have a monopoly on teen angst! I like to think that the theme of this movie was: "We're teenagers and we're making poor life choices! SUCK ON THAT, MOM!"

I am interested in the sequel, if only to figure out where they go from that ending...

I was completely LOLing when the source of his trauma got revealed - so, his Mom turned out to be a cheating mcslutterson but seriously - sure, becoming a thug with a record will show her! WTF, idiot hot dude.

No idea where they'll go but the author is coming out with another book so...I loved the ending here tbh because it made sense to me - those things never last.

Oh, I am a bit ashamed that somebody recommends me a movie from my country *blushes*. I heard about it but never got the chance to know more about it. I like the main actors, both are quite popular in Spain, especially Mario Casas (H.) for his tv work. Maria Valverde is famous for her previous movies and I really like both of them.

The part Mario Casas plays looks far from what I am used to see him doing (he was a cop in a tv show and he was a really good boy there, although he was in a love triangle...)

Now I have to check it out. Is is easy to find around? Thank you for the rec!

Omg, finally. Someone I can ask about the subs. I love this movie to death, I have a limited Spanish knowledge so I understood the basis when I watched it a few months ago but I've been dying for the subs. Thanks to this post, I immediately went to find the movie to watch.... *sigh* They're so goddamn gorgeous, and freaken adorable! it's almost feels like sheer waste when they didn't end up together. There's one thing I don't get though.... how could she bare to leave him when his best friend just died?? I felt like everyone kinda abandoned him @ the end, and he had no one left =(

The thing is though, I can understand her - they really are from two different worlds and are horribly young (too young to deal with everything) and, let's face it, he may be sexy as hell and madly in love with her but he's also an utter personal disaster. I feel horrible for him but I can't really blame her.

There is also the italian sequel to the italian version, which... well I don't know what to say without spoiling it but I didn't like it. There will also be a spanish sequel to the spanish one and from what I've seen on the net it will be the same as the italian.

At this point, that just seems sadistic - though I suppose they can have a bright future making a whole series of movies at the end of each one Babi and Hache don't end up together thus opening room for yet another sequel. That could be endless :P
