I am not really in a drama mood lately. All I want to do is:
1. Drink tea
2. Reread my Kilgannon books (seriously, I am obsessed. I want to be Mary when I grow up, only I think she's younger than me and also being an 18th-century woman having to guard three kids while your husband is in the Tower on charges of treason can't be fun). I found out the author was going to write three books but she never did, whether because she lost interest or the publisher did. Booo! I mean, the second book doesn't end on a cliffhanger like the first one, so it's fine, but I want more of Mary/Alex (also, I didn't get the books because of it because there was no hint it's in there, but scar-kissing, mmmmm).
3. Watch American shows.
And speaking of the last, here is my roster:
* Boardwalk Empire - Mr. Mousie and I watch it together and both adore it. It's such a smart, engrossing drama, even if I don't like any of the characters. Plus, period drama!
* Burn Notice - another my and Mr. Mousie's show.
*Homeland - Damian Lewis! Plus Morena Baccarin and Claire Danes. Though I do not approve if he turns out to be a terrorist. I cannot have a crush on a terrorist, even a fictional one. Hmmm, maybe I can get Mr. Mousie to watch this one with me.
Once Upon a Time - I am waiting for this one rabidly.
* Pan Am - looks cute, fluffy, and period
* Ringer - SMG as twins! I like so far, even if I keep wondering why Buffy just doesn't kill all the evildoers with her pinkie.

Date: 2011-10-19 11:54 pm (UTC)As near as I can tell (and I'm several episodes behind) Ringer is devoted to showing SMG can still be badass without superpowers if needed, even if we're all conditioned to find it unbelievable that a guy could have the physical edge over her just for being a head taller, 50~ pounds heavier, and presumably somewhat experienced with killing.
Revenge is another pretty good one, though once Upon A Time is the one I'm waiting for. BTW, have you seen the kdrama in which Lee Seo jin plays a 350-year-old semi-suicidal vampire?

Date: 2011-10-20 12:37 am (UTC)Thanks for your rec re: S3 of Veronica Mars btw. Finally got around to it a couple of weeks ago, and enjoyed the LoVe scenes, which were pretty much the only stuff I watched properly with my mini-marathon of S1-3. Forgot how good they were together, and it was nice to know they were even better as bf/gf officially.

Date: 2011-10-20 01:52 am (UTC)Out of your roster, Ringer is the only other one I've checked out. I only saw one episode of Buffy, so I had no expectations regarding SMG, but I liked what I saw. Too bad it airs on the only night where I'm out of the house, but a marathon is in order.
The only American show that I'm following right now is Revenge, which is addictive so far. Sure, I'm still not a fan of the title, but they had me at "loose adaptation of The Count of Monte Cristo." I'm hoping that changes when Grimm and Once Upon a Time comes out this weekend.

Mousie, do you know Revenge? It's surprisingly good! But you must watch it from the first ep! Ep 5 is tonite!

Date: 2011-10-20 04:21 am (UTC)Homeland is very good. Not crushing on Damian Lewis and really hoping he does end up being a terrorist (for story purposes).
Ringer started out terrible, but has since improved. In fact, show knows how to do a cliff hanger.
Like you, I'm excited for Once Upon a Time, it already has a season pass on my DVR.
And lastly, my show of the season so far is Revenge. Love it to bits!!!!

Date: 2011-10-20 04:58 am (UTC)Emily Vancamp is so good at being her character...I truly can't wait to see how this will turn out. Would it be only 1 season?
And my oh my, isn't the guy who played Daniel hot?!

Date: 2011-10-20 05:26 pm (UTC)I keep watching Ringer but I feel like the main characters are letting this show down. I don't know how long I'll keep watching.
I keep meaning to start Homeland. I need a show to replace 24 in my suspense drama slot. Heh. And yes, can't wait for OUaT!

Date: 2011-10-20 07:20 pm (UTC)Other Western shows I'm watching at the moment are The Vampire Diaries, Fringe, Supernatural, and Lost Girl. I'm a bit amused, though not at all surprised that they all are a kind of sf/fantasy.

Date: 2011-10-27 12:17 am (UTC)The story starts with Bo, a lone woman who sometimes kills men while having sex with them. It turns out she's succubus and one of the fae who hide in plain sight in modern cities.
She's best friends with a human female friend called Kenzie, has maybe romantic interests in a male cop/werewolf , and fae bound female doctor. And things get more complex as the series goes on.
It has various kinds of faery/fairy tale characters appear in modern day world in a hidden society. Since Bo starts as and remains an outsider of both the seelie and unseelie courts, she turns into a private detective solving crimes involving both courts.

Date: 2011-10-20 09:36 pm (UTC)I'm anticipating Once Upon a Time too. I'm not crazy about the plot, but I am a big fan of the writers that are penning it (i.e. the writers of Lost).
Breaking Bad has ruined all shows for me. I haven't been in the mood to watch anything (drama wise) in weeks.

Date: 2011-10-27 12:35 am (UTC)Walt teams up with former student/slacker Jesse Pinkman, who teaches him about the entrepreneurial world of drug dealing. The two set up shop in a converted RV and before they know it, business is booming. No road to success comes without its share of problems and for Walt that comes in the form of an obnoxious brother-in-law Hank -who happens to be a Drug Enforcement Agent.

Date: 2011-10-21 08:33 pm (UTC)Mousie, surely you've not forgotten about Fanaa? :D
Though I hear you. Damian Lewis is pretty much my ideal man, I've not watched this so I do hope he's on the good side, though wisened by tough experiences (much like Damian's character in the now-axed Life, where he played a cop who'd been falsely convicted & served time in prison).
