Am back!!!
Oct. 16th, 2011 10:15 pmSo, what did I miss?? Any dramas worth watching? How is Man of Honor? Tree with Deep Roots? Something else I should be watching?
Am currently fighting sleep deprivation by watching Veer, which is the most chesetastic awesome Bollywood thing ever.
Also, by checking out Don 2 trailer:
I really enjoyed the first one and it's a total treat to see (a) a Bollywood movie whose protagonist is a sociopath (talk about different) and (b) SRK returning to his bad guy roots. It is, after all, how he started out before he became a megastar and lover supreme.
Oh, and I want him and Priyanka's character please please please have hot hatesex. Kthanks.

Date: 2011-10-17 06:12 am (UTC)Tree with Deep Roots is beautiful. Seriously, its like a movie. Its pretty interesting and there is a lot of political stuff so far. Don't know how its going to be on the romance front though.
LOVE Man of Honor! I can already tell I'm going to get addicted. Its in the same vein of Baker King but it starts out more upbeat so hopefully it will continue the balance of angst/comedy.

Date: 2011-10-17 06:39 am (UTC)I'm watching HUNTER blah blah Japanese subtitle something about Bounty Hunters which is silly (but I love Yonekura Ryoko so that's OK).
Also watching Kaseifu no Mita with the beautiful Matsushima Nanako. She's playing an extremely unsocial but perfect housekeeper. She actually looks almost ugly in this role which is unusual but the drama is really good and got 19% on the first night!

Date: 2011-10-17 11:24 am (UTC)I second/third the rec. for Tree With Deep Roots. Not much romance as yet, but to be honest, I don't think I'd want it to be a major part of the drama in any case, though I do hope they'll flesh out the lead female's character because she does appear to play a key role. But romance or no romance, it's riveting, the plotting is very tight (which I think is remarkable given the liberties they're taking with the original novel), the relationships fascinating, and I can't praise enough the performances by both Song Joong Ki and Han Seok Kyu as King Sejong. He's such a revered figure in history that he's not the first candidate that comes to mind as a complex character (for dramatic purposes) in a sageuk, but in the hands of these writers and these two actors, he absolutely is. It's also one of the most convincing and seamless transitions I've seen to adulthood, which I think explains the strong buzz and ratings it's getting in just 4 eps. (And not, as javabeans suggests, the audience for The Princess Man switching to another sageuk. Viewers these days aren't that loyal, to anything whether it's a channel or a genre. If they don't like it, they don't like it, they don't stick around.)

That makes no sense - it's like saying because people liked one romcom, they'd like another. Plus, TPM was a period romance and Tree seems very far from that.
