Have you ever seen anything more awesome?

Alive! And together! And happy with their daughter! OMFG! What with this and Chuno letting my OTPs survive after I was sure they wouldn't, I am one spoiled happy woman.

Also, not sure why soompiers are saying he's blind? He's riding horses with Se Ryung, looking at his family etc.

I think not only the law of sageuk, I think the laws of dramaland bows to him. He's able to turn the eyes of the female lead to look at him who was originally the 2nd male lead. Not once, but twice! He's just too awesome.

okayyyyy i might check out this drama now! but this is very unlike R and J

Yeah, but R&J were dmiwit adolescents who killed himself from overabundance of angst.

This one has grownups one of which wants to kill the other's father. A little different :)

Do you think they meant to kill him off and then audience response meant they decide to let him live? I'm not too knowledgeable about the live shoot system but does that apply to most KDramas even sageuks? I would think the production value alone required for sageuks would make it much harder to do on a live shoot.

Sageuks are a lot less prone to liveshoots than most other dramas (they are not entirely prefilmed a la cdramas but they like to stay a couple weeks ahead) but often that disintegrates by the end - I am pretty sure by the end, TPM was doing pretty close to a liveshoot.

Re: keeping him alive due to popularity. No idea. But presumably they always intended him to be popular so that didn't alter their plan - it's not as if he's a secondary character who took over, a la Bidam.

Are you sure this isn't a dream sequence? I won't allow myself to be tricked by you, dm! :P Seriously if this is the ending, I'm totally adding this to my watch list. YAY.

Yes, sure. It's made very explicit :) The Queen (heroine's mom) helps them fake their deaths and run away to live in peace and happiness. Watch away!

Dang, I cried more at this real ending than I did at what I thought was the ending. The tears were weird tears, too. Sort of the tears you might cry at having someone you love come back alive after many years of longing and grieving. Tears all the while telling the one who's come back that you hate him/her for making you hurt for so many years.

He is blind. Have you seen the episode? In the horseback riding scene, Se Ryeong is acting as his eyes.

Me too! The supposed ending for me was when the friends went to their grassy grave. I thought it was a Butterfly Couple ending where butterflies will fly out of the tomb. I was so mad I wanted to throw things at the screen. I was spoiled that it was a happy ending from Dramabean, and Soompi had a couple naming them "The Ghost Couple," so I thought that they might come out as ghosts now. Then, we see Seung Yoo walking with his daughter and passes an old Su Yang, I was so happy that tears started falling out. This drama managed to make me shed tears of all type. Definitely become my most favorite Saejuk!

Yes, he is. But he's so happy, I don't mind.

Yeah, had that not been the ending, I'd have thrown things at the screen. I'm glad that they got to live, as in they didn't die AND they (primarily Seung Yu) learned to live their lives. It's a bit overwhelming when I realize that historically this was probably the best scenario available to anyone who'd stood in Suyang's path.
