I know, I know, I am only on ep 30-something and this is from the final ep. But I got brief glimpses of this scene in MVs and simply had to see this for myself.

Suffice it to say, it was glorious. My inner 12-yr-old was squeeing like mad. This just might be my favorite sequence in the entire drama.

I am not sure whether to feel awful for Shang Xiang because she has the worst father in history, who aparently thinks it's a great idea to get his daughter possessed by demons so that she can kill her OTP and all her friends, or to feel happy she has such an awesome OTP. Dilemmas!
So, we are in the middle of the ultimate battle between our heroes and SX's father, who wants to open a portal to let the demons into the world and take over. The heroes are winning, by playing demon-killing music (go with it). And then Daddy brings out his ultimate weapon, SX!

Awww, Xiu! The music hurts demons and is thus hurting Shang Xiang, of course.

NOT GOOD.

Father of the year award goes to...I don't know, but not SX's Daddy.

Here is where I started hyperventilating. Ah, Xiu, you kill me. (He ended up my favorite character in the drama actually - the combo of nobility, wry bemusement at this odd dimension, strong common sense, and the fact that he falls and has an amazingly functional relationship with SX, one of the strongest, coolest, smartest women characters ever - ah, Xiu!)

Ah, this speech. I am an idiot but I was totally sniffling (and not just out of glee at the brief but glorious Zhou Yu/Xiao Qiao shout-out). He's just so tender and determined despite the fact that she keeps hurting him and keeps walking towards her...Also, the posession is the ultimate horrible thing to do to SX because she is the most clear-headed, reason-dependent of all the characters.

OMG you guys, I am not crying over a cheesy fun twdrama where people throw fireballs, I am not...

Daddy Dearest is not about to let demonic posession to be defeated by the Power of Love (tm) and tries to reassert control...

Only she drives the fireball thingy into herself! Oh, OTP.

Daddy loses patience and tries to total Xiu and she jumps in front...

He uses black magic to drag her over...

I think your future son-in-law is about to murder you...

But she gets through to him! Sort of. He disappears...

And then plot continues, but all I know is I am in shipper heaven.
Yeah, I know it was a ton of caps, but seeing that I started with over 2400, that's less than 10% of total.

Date: 2011-09-28 02:52 am (UTC)Yeah the KO series kinda was a high point for me with campy fun but surprisingly dramatic animagishounen series so even though there are copycat series like M Riders, I can't watch them even if they have the same cast because it seems like KO3 was just the apex of that spirit. I dunno.

Date: 2011-09-28 03:00 am (UTC)Yeah, KO3 really snuck on me because it was campy but it new it and was so tongue-in-cheek and quite clever with its 3 Kingdom references and when it got dramatic I desperately cared. It helps that I love shonen. I've only seen 6 eps of X-Family and, while I liked it, at least so far not nearly as much as I do KO3 which is going on my fave list.
That scene made me shipper squee.
KO1 and X-Family
