The Princess' Man - episode 15

This episode felt like a breath of air after the intensity of ep 14. Not that it was cheery or anything but there was a bit of a break from emotional nadir of previous ep.
Se Ryung shields SY with her body and tries to touch his face with (what she thinks is) her last strength. And he, the man who tied her up and mistreated her, was threatening to kill her, tried to kill any feelings for her, just goes into shock. (PSH does a great acting job here, because all we can see is his agonized eyes - the rest is covered with his mask). His friends have to drag him away and all he can do is try to stretch his hand to her. Oh, they are so doomed - they cannot be with each other and they cannot be without.

Whatever Sooyang's faults, being a bad father is not one of them. And that is the tragedy, that is why SR can't just decide to hate him and want him dead. He may be a monster to others, but he is a loving parent to her.

Still in shock. Oh, you poor destroyed man. He was terrifying in ep 14 but underneath it all is a very scarred and hurt, and very young man.

Finding out SR will live and being asked if he kidnapped her as revenge or just because he didn't want her married to another and realizing he doesn't know the answer. He must be so torn inside - he must hate himself for loving her and yet he cannot stop. He is such a mix of revenge and grief and love and guilt (for surviving his family, for loving the enemy's daughter, for mistreating her when she proved she loved him).

I love the slow relationship development between Jeong and Kyung Hee. And, let's face it, he's the only good husband material in this story. I never thought I'd ship them so, but I do. Here he is about to be arrested. Being married to Jeong and not SY ended up being a blessing - being married to SY wouldn't have stopped the coup and she would have had a dead husband, who didn't even love her.

I despise him and pity him at the same time.

Probably my second-favorite scene in the ep after opening. A gisaeng is coming on to SY but all he sees is SR, and every move gisaeng makes is twisted-mirrored by his memories of SR in ep 14.

I love how somehow there is still love between them.

Like I said:

I teared up at their reunion.

And now he's the avenging angel, killing members of Sooyang's faction. This is going to end well.

Date: 2011-09-12 02:09 am (UTC)I am watching ep 16 now and OMG that ending (I peeked). I really do think he's so damaged he needs a ton of therapy and they didn't have it back then. I do agree he still loves her.
