I just saw

of Scent of a Woman and now might have to watch this drama.

Argh!

Aww. It ends very hopefully though.

You should watch it. The drama in general was amazing. Though there were times where it ripped your guts of, and wanted to cry rivers, the ending was clearly acceptable.

Yes, the ending is what's making me decide to give this a chance.

And the 5 or 6 shower scenes, didn't?
And please, don't fall in love with Lee Dong Wook, he is mine ;p

I would say - YES! You should watch. It is one of the most mature, uplifting dramas I have seen. For the most part the characters are drawn as adults - and the melodrama is only a small piece of the story. Beautiful, simple message and wonderful acting by the cast.

I am still a little wary just because I find cancer stories very troubling due to personal reasons, but I am very tempted.

The cancer didn't get overplayed into some tragic melofest in this drama. It had it's moments but the show concentrated more on the life lessons that it was trying to impart about how even in the face of imminent death there are still a lot of things worth living for and waking everyday for like your sense of purpose, love for a lover, family and friends.

This show has really impacted my life in a big way. I have this huge ache in my chest right now not because of its ending but that because it had to end.

I'm sure Jiwook and Yeonjae will be your OTP once you've seen this drama. Sun Ah and Dong Wook made their characters so believable that i'm half convinced that they are really dating... LOL

She is not dead yet and has lived longer than they thought she will so it's an open hopeful ending.

i... have lost all interest in this drama. the ending didn't end up being depressing, which is good. but, i totally lost interest halfway through. but i love OTP. so much yummy scenes with them.

If you don't mind, can you tell me why you lost interest?

I too nearly lost interest. Having read the recaps of Ep 15 and 16, I'll watch the last two episodes when I have time, but the few episodes prior to nearly had me dump all the prior episodes. I actually may have. (Note to self - make sure to keep the episode with Ji Wook's hot tango scene)

Kim Sun Ah is not my favorite. She's a good actress, but something about her appearance and especially her thin reedy, mousy voice grate on my nerves. Her even mousier aegyo voice makes me want to throw things at her, things that can break into pieces. I barely made it through the early episodes. Barely made it through City Hall and did so only because I love Cha Seung Won. Made it through Kim Sam Soon because the good story, Hyun Bin, Jeong Ryeo-won, and Daniel Henney.

Without a solid storyline to engage my attention, I find myself unable to tolerate Kim Sun Ah. And there just was way too much of idiotic angst in the prior episodes.

hmm. to be honest, i'm not too entirely sure of the reason myself. just, i found myself downloading episodes, not watching them, but just keeping up through recaps.

i know it too irritating with Sae Kyung and Ji Wook and her's dads being asses. and then, i dunno, the pacing of the drama became to slow and episodes became sadder and i guess hit a little too close to home sometimes.

and then, i really didn't care about much else besides the OTP interaction. so the episodes when they weren't together did nothing for me either.

I love Scent of a Woman, it's going on my all time favorite list (that list is very small too, I've realized recently).

Some people might have lost interest half-way through because of the meddling by the disgusting secondary girl and her rich daddy. I also had a feeling like "this drama is quite sad already, why pile this unnecessary angst?" but it's a kdrama! It can't do without rich chaebols being obnoxious and despicable!
I would say I disliked 5% of the drama that contained the chaebol evil parents cliches and then absolutely loved the other 95% which had a realistic feel and was filled with some of the most profoundly moving and gorgeously presented scenes of love and hope.

I feel the same way. I decided to just fast forward through that 5% if it's annoying the hell out of me but unbelievably, i never had to do so because even if it's something worth pulling my hair over, the show is still sooo good that i wanted to watch it in its entirety, warts and all.

I don't mind uncesessary scenes - that is what ff is for. As long as I like the bulk of it, I am good.
