Smallville: slashiness galore.
Dec. 12th, 2005 10:42 amWatched a few Smallville eps (first season) and Good God. I am usually slash-blind as a bat, but there is no doubt that Man of Steel and Lex Luthor are getting it on like bunnies in the back of the barn.
I mean, seriously, forget the tepid and wooden Lana. The action that's going on ain't involving any het play. I am generally canon Naziish, but what can I say? What with Clark being all bare-chested and wide-eyed "oooooh, ooooooh, Lex you are so cool and I bat my ridiculously long eye lashes at you" and Lex being all older/sophisticated/silk shirt wearing "ooooh, here are tickets for you Clark, here is me saving your farm Clark, would you like my heart on a silver platter Clark," there is no question who is finding out what "alien lovin'" really means, and it ain't Lana.
It doesn't help that MR can act and KK not so much and that TW has better chemistry with Lex than with Lana. Heeeee.
I so see matching designer ties and a commitment ceremony in their future. Well, if Lex can refrain from going evil that is. I guess Clark should just keep him in bed all day or similar.
Also, I read some Clark/Lex slash and it was goooood. Probably the first slash fic I ever liked.
The show is dreadful though.

Date: 2005-12-12 03:49 pm (UTC)I mean, anything that makes me see the slash HAS to be something out of the common way :P

Date: 2005-12-12 03:53 pm (UTC)That's not really hard though :P
The problem with trying to do the whole thing is about The Undying Love For Lana is that by looking at the screen it's clearly all about Severe UST Between Clark and Lex :P I mean, I never see slash possibilities, and I do here, so that's saying something.
Of course, less screentime together is booooring because it's way too much fun watching them together (basically, most of the fun I got from that show so far. That and watching Lex by himself. Clark is so wide-eyed I want to smack him).

Date: 2005-12-12 04:06 pm (UTC)But yes, the slash in the first two-three seasons is off the chart. It's much less so in following seasons, but it's impossible to ever deny entirely.

Date: 2005-12-12 05:01 pm (UTC)I can't figure out why TPTB keep pushing Clark/Lana because as far as I could see from my brief scan of the fandom, so few people actually like them together. Bizarre.

Date: 2005-12-12 05:18 pm (UTC)But I think they rarely venture out anywhere (I go there sometimes to post comic scans).

Date: 2005-12-12 05:50 pm (UTC)My fave is that a degoratory name for the Clanas from the Clexfans used to be Clunkies. And later somebody figures out that clunkies is actually a name for a fetish where people like to watch robot sex. :D

So, which Smallville slash did you read? Any recs?
I remember being very amused by the AU challenge. But you are probably not much into AUs.

Date: 2005-12-12 05:00 pm (UTC)Probably because it turs out my affinity for Dominant Fandom Ship outweighs my Canon Love? :P

Yup, Season 1. What happens in H&R?
As to recs, I liked:
Marble (http://yearningvoid.net/stories/julad/000032.html)
Lex Luthor and the Edge of reason, Dairy of a Millionaire Singleton (http://www.kryptonsite.com/forums/showthread.php?s=4f0ac2abcfeac3e722e2c6a5e634085c&threadid=46145&perpage=15&pagenumber=1)
and two stories I have in my memories under Smallville. I have no idea how IC they are because I am not very familiar with canon, but I like them as stories.

Actually, I enjoy AUs when well done.

Date: 2005-12-12 05:07 pm (UTC)Me, I kinda thought that season 1 Clex was creepyn a lot of the time, especially from Lex's side. Aside from the whole "20something guy befriending a 15 year old", there is the fact that in episode 2 he is already announcing that they are bestest friends (me: err, need much?), being all stalkerish, showering him with presents (here, take a car, and a leaden treasure box, and tickets and help for the farm, take, take, take!). So, I always had issues taking their relationship seriously as a friendship (everytime somebody goes on about the beautiful Clex friendship, I'm always: "Huh? where?"). Smallville actually makes *more* sense if you pretend that they are romantically into each other to some extent than to assume that they are not.

Date: 2005-12-12 11:10 pm (UTC)Corner of the World by Serafina - basically re-writes the series with Clark and Lex as a couple. She's currently writing chapter 51 and is midway through season 2 but don't let the size of the thing put you off. I even like Lana in this one!
Conflicts of Interest by Rageprufrock - Not really all that slashy until the end but this is just fantastic. It's told from the POV of nine year old Conner Luthor, the canon son of Clark and Lex. (No really, in the comics they have a biological child!)
Anything by Henry Jones Jr - personally I love Family, Friendship and Love. It's mpreg but please, please, please don't let that put you off!
Heart of Darkness and Language of Love by Dogpoet. Both AU. The former is set in 1910 and has Tarzan!Clark, the latter gives us Professor Lex and student Clark.
Omiai, I'm Carrying my Gay Alien Lover's Child and Roots and Wings by Rose Emily. Omiai takes the cliche of the arranged marriage then turns it upside down, shakes it all about and makes it do the hokey pokey. In I'm Carrying My Gay Alien Lover's Child, Chloe acts as a surrogate for Clark and Lex and in Roots and Wings their son is thirteen and acting like a little shit, as all good thirteen year olds do. Really, anything by her is worth reading. Very funny writer.
The Constellation Series by Rhiannon is great, as are Blue Always Knew and Indigo is his Own on the same site.
The Road Not Taken by Joyfulgirl41 - AU land. What if Lex hadn't been raised by Lionel?
Ad Astra Per Aspera by Kat Reitz and Tzigane - how much angst can you take?
Yellow Means Slow by Rageprufrock - No really, how much angst can you take? Be sure to have tissues ready before you tackle this one.
Love for Sale by Lenore and As The Night The Day by Alax and Dana - two variations on hooker!Clark. Both fantastic.
Okay, I'll stop now.
