dangermousieIt is an odd thing - the older I get, the more I like family dramas. When I first started my drama obsession back in 2005 or so, I think there were greater chances of me relocating to Spitzbergen than becoming enamored of a family drama, but as time goes on, I find myself more and more inclined to view them as favorites - even when I do not obsess over them (and I often do obsess, make no mistake), they become a sort of comfort food for the soul. Three of my favorite dramas this year were family dramas - Gloria, New Tales of the Gisaeng, Can You Hear My Heart (four, if you add in Family Honor which I only discovered this year).
And so, when I realized that starting next week, I will have only two kdramas to follow-both of them grim grim sageuks-my first choice of drama to add to the list was a contemporary, family drama. A Thousand Kisses, to be exact.
My reason? Ryu Jin and Kim So Eun and my pre-obsession with this couple, age difference and all. Oh, I am sure I will find the main couple (a divorcee finding love with a younger man) quite appealing. But it is RJ/KSE that is my reason for starting, I adore them both beyond words and think they should be in more things. Ryu Jin owns my heart since Capital Scandal and I think he can do no wrong. KSE was one of the few things that kept me going through second half of Boys Over Flowers and she so fresh and charming and loveable. Together? Heaven!
Apparently she plays a college student/grad in her early twenties and he is a professional in his early thirties. He doesn't date or get married because, due to his screwed-up upbringing, he doesn't believe he can make a woman happy. She is spunky and crushing and determined to prove him wrong. Wonder who will win :)
On a purely shallow note, he is about a million feet taller than she is - my favorite thing! Heeee.

I plan to get to Ojakgyo Brothers too, but with that one I want to wait until there is at least a dozen subbed eps.

Date: 2011-09-02 01:35 am (UTC)I love everything about them. Their height difference, his coldness (imagine how adorable and at the same time angsty he will be when he will discover that he is in love with her as well, her attitude.....I love everything.
The main couple is also starting to grow on me. Her husband needs to get out of the picture quickly, and her mother in law is the worse, but her son is really cute and adorable and he and the main guy are so cute together. That is how father and son should behave.
This drama seems to be growing on me from all perspectives.
