I have been getting fed up with a bunch of anon comments lately and the MW weirdo is the last straw. I think I am going to start by locking all my MW posts and slowly transition into flocking the rest. Because seriously, I do this for fun, not to be aggravated.

And while we are at it (though I do not think you need reminders) if you are on my friends list and disagree with me, do it politely. The moment you start calling me names, I will unfriend and ban you. Also, for God's sake, if we have different opinions, that is fine, we can have a discussion about it. But if you comment on every post on drama/topic x with the same negative opinion and keep going on and on, it gets tiresome. I wouldn't rain on your parade, do not rain on mine. This is not a message board where people are free to flame each other all day. This is my journal and my rules.

Yes, it sounds dictatorial and pissed off. Because it is.

Putting in a vote for leaving most of your posts unlocked, although certainly locking the Myung-Wol posts if the idiots are making you uncomfortable. I stumbled across your journal at random and was immediately enthralled by your drama posts; you've introduced me to a multitude of dramas I wouldn't have otherwise seen and I've always found your posts intelligent and entertaining, even if we don't always agree. (I'm a Young-Ju fan through and through, but I could see your point about him...) I'd hope future newcomers could have the pleasure of reading your posts--but not at the expense of making your journal aggravating or annoying to you. (Because seriously, where do people get off being jerks on the Internet?)

There's always, of course, the option of banning anonymous comments on your journal, though that won't stop weirdos who have at least enough courage to go pseudo-anon under an LJ pseudonym. Here's hoping things get better. :(

This!!!!!

I am so glad I was able to read your posts and then become friended to read all your stuff.

You can just stop anon commenting, which might be your easiest option if you don't want to flock everything. But locking things for a while might dissuade some of the crazies for a bit.

This is one anon who really likes your writing and the way you can always combine intelligent commentary with fangirl squee, and I'm sorry psychos are ruining it for you. I'm not super fond of Myung Wol myself(think the chemistry between Eric and Han Ye Seul never gets past tepid, and I prefer my lulz to plot ratio be higher in something that was billed as a spy farce) but I would never dream of flaming someone just because they happen to like it. You turned me onto a lot of obscure Chinese period stuff I would never have heard about otherwise, and I'll be sad if I can't read your journal anymore. But after all, it's YOUR journal, and you can do as you like. I just thought I'd speak for the perfectly nice anons out there. :D

Haven't had time to watch the Myung Wol eps post-Han Ye Seul-drama yet, so didn't really read your posts on the drama. Was it really bad?

Yikes! Sorry to hear that's happening. Internet people can be so disrespectful and frustrating it's ridiculous - so do whatever you need to do in order to stop it. If I had the power, I'd ban people like that from the internet all together!! ;)

The whole friends only thing is weird because I can definitely understand feeling violated by having anonymous comments especially when they're weird and they happen to come across your thoughts. At the same time, I am conflicted because I wouldn't have been able to stumble across your posts if I weren't looking for recaps/reviews of dramas. If I hadn't read your posts, I wouldn't have friended you since I rarely friend people since I tend to dislike friending random people since I find it mostly weird to friend random strangers.

But it's really up to you. I'm pretty much grandfathered in as one of the random anonymouse that got past the weirdness radar so I wouldn't be affected if you flock your journal but at the same time, it does feel like you'd be closing the door on other potential friends as well as letting the weirdo anonymouse dictate your actions. So that's just my two cents. Whatever you decide should allow for the best environment to continue expressing your opinion because let's face it, it's your damn journal!

I actually voted for full f-locking, since that's the way I've done it and I've rather enjoyed the peace and quiet from it, but then it occurred to me that what you could also do is just f-lock any posts that might invite crazies (if you don't want to cut off the good anons that you also get).

I haven't been reading the MW post comments so I don't have the faintest clue what's been going on, but either way just go with whatever requires the least effort. Going back and f-locking old posts is a huge pain in the ass.

I once read a journal which owner simply locked everything up after a certain amount of time. Don't know if it would work for you - it still gives the crazies time to piss you off - but less entries available would maybe discourage some of them. Also, still gives people the opportunity to find your journal etc.

Meh, I feel sorry you even have to consider things like that :/

ahem, sorry for posting under anonymous, but I don't have an account on Livejournal.

Hi Mousie,
I just wanted to say that it would be a pity if you lock up your great journal because of some wackos out there. I've discovered your page a few months ago and have been enjoying reading your posts even though I never wrote any comment before. It's great to read posts by someone who shares some of my likes and dislikes and who allows me to discover things I wouldn't have discovered otherwise. So please don't take that away :)
I understand you don't have to suffer stupidity, but if there's some sort of compromise (maybe allowing comments to friends only) that would be great. If not, then maybe locking only the source of trouble could be enough.

Sorry for a long post. And thanks for the great work you're doing here. :)

Shirin,
Egypt

I must've missed these comments. Maybe you can make it livejournal account holders only? Like some communities only allow you to leave a comment if you have a livejournal account only?

Omg, how lifeless are some people.I can't believe how can attack you that way :S
Can't you ban this certain IP? Or just lock anonymous posts?

Well, personally , I think you should do what's best for you, but if you choose to lock it only for friends, then I should hurry to add you as a friend, so I can read your blog * hehe *

Sorry to hear those news :S

can you use ban or delete?
I know about lj just because of you and omonatheydidnt- I'm a commenter usually so even after a few years I don't know lj
I didn't read the MW posts because they would spoil me and I'm behind at ep 11 coz my new obsession are jdramas so I can't tell if it is right or wrong to just ignore them

however in my house I like to live peacefully and it is your right to delete/ban ppl who annoy you- blogging is for fun but some ppl just like to troll other ppl and they don't get the meaning of blogging ( it is not like you win $$$ from it)

on the other hand I would export this lj to a dangermousie.com with some adds to make some $$$ for ice-cream - you have lots of visitors and a .com would get you the right to ban some IPs(a day or 2 or forever) javabeans "renovated" her whole site for 2 times since I read her.( I bet that the export would costs a few $$$ )

I think it would be a pity if only a select few would be able to read your blog. I stumbled on it myself one or two years ago and now I am an avid reader (who by the way has just finished "Beautiful Disaster", good recommendation).

BTW: Hope you are safe.

I hope you keep most of your posts open. So many people enjoy your posts and even become drama addicts because of you. I can't count the # of dramas I've watched based on your rec.

I didn't know that so much people could push you to this extent! I'm so sorry that you have to go through this.

Hello. I know you haven't seen me before, I'm a lurker on here. I often come to your lj to see your thoughts on episodes and impression of different dramas. I probably seem very weird don't I? ahahah sorry for that. I just enjoy your out put. I wasn't sure if I could add you or not. I'm hardly ever updating on lj so I thought it would be even more weird.

I think ultimately it is your decision to make your lj friends only.
I do hope that you will keep it open but if it's too much trouble then by all means make it friends only.

It's not weird at all :)

I have no problem with you friending me btw, and would totally friend you back.

I voted with the second option. I hope that solves your problems at least for the time being.

That's a difficult decision. I think you've got a few readers outside of LJ (well, apart from the haters and psychos ^^) who would need to create their own journal if they wanted to continue reading. Maybe just locking the MW posts for now would be your best opinion.
But in the end, as you said, it's your journal, so by all means, do what you think is best :)
