Can't Lose - oh yes you can!

So, I checked out the first ep of the new romcom with Choi Ji Woo and Yoon Sang Hyun, Can't Lose.

I am afraid it's not for me in the least. I am not predisposed to like lawyer dramas or divorce-related dramas in the first place, but it's more than that. The first ep set my teeth on edge - everything is so 'cutesy', so over-the-top, so shrill. Everyone is mugging like expressions are going out of style and the characters make me want to give them prozac (especially the female lead. I also find her unlikeable, but that is a separate issue). The poster pretty much encapsulates the vibe - if the poster appeals to you, you'll probably like the drama.

Granted, I watched it raw and may be missing some amazing dialogue that would put it all in a new light, but I don't think so. I bet it will have its fans - it seems well-made - but this is simply not a genre that appeals to me. It's not that it is a bad drama - it is just of the subtype - the wacky loud romcom - that I almost never go for.

Oh, I completely wanted to smack her over the head with something. I also watched it raw and may be missing something but, can you tell me what is wrong with your husband wanting to kiss you? Why hit him and push him away? He's your husband for goodness sake. And I admit, I HATE doing housework and wish it would do itself but even I do it and don't leave things messy like that in the living room or kitchen.

Still, I sorta liked it. I liked that it was so superficial (in a way) and I didn't have to get so invested in it. After all the angsty dramas I've been re-watching, it's like a palate cleanser.

Well, that's slightly better, but she did push him before when he was kissing her. I'm just annoyed with her character in general so everything she does seems to bug me XD

I watched all the previews and long preview and she scream too much for my taste....... but I also have something against the main girl. Yeah since winter Sonata I don't like her acting.

I gave it a chance, but barely made it through the whole episode. Everything's a bit too...loud, here. I thought it's just the preview, but the whole episode kind of grated on me. I don't know, maybe I'll give it a few more episodes to see if I'd like it, or just stick to reading recaps on db.

The plot/ writing had better be amazing though, coming up against Princess Man and PtB, both of which are ruling the ratings.

Loud, whacky, OTT - mmmmm..... not for me either. I can take a little of whacky and OTT but I seriously hate it if they are combined with 'loud'. LOL! I don't think this is my thing either.

it is based on a jdorama, Sasaki Fusai No Jingi Naki Tatakai (The Sasaki Couple's Merciless Battle )I haven't seen it so I can't say what it was like.
I just hope this is a better remake then The man who can't marry, the jdorama version was excellent while the kdrama was just bad. The whole cast was trying to imitate the japanese cast in every way(bad idea).
