Koala is raving about it over on her blog and she is a lady of excellent taste, but for some reason I get the sense it is an office drama and that is the one genre I cannot stand. Plus, I adore Ji Sung but I've only seen him in very intense roles and dramas (Last Dance, Swallow the Sun, The Royal Family) so not sure how he'd work out in a comedy.

So, anyone watched it? Is it something I'd like?

Hmmm, why do I lack a Ji Sung icon?

My interest in it is pretty much nill!

Maybe I'll quickly check it out... but only if people tell me it's still good after episode 10!

I too got curious after reading the fun recaps Koala have been doing for this drama, she seems to have so much fun while watching it that yesterday I checked it... and turns out I prefer to read the recaps (they are more fun!)

While in the recap the scenes seem pretty fun and all, after watching the actors, I think the second girl is overacting, the main guy I just think something is weird about him and I can't feel his character I see the actor not the character, and the second guy, his voice is sooo different from what I thought... and it's bugging me LOL. I think I'll have fun reading the recaps because it seems I can't watch and hear the actors at all - even the main girl I think is over acting.... so yeah the best thing is watch it from episode 1 and get used to their voices and overtop acting.....

Some can say it isn't they aren't overacting, but have that thing in rom coms, or they are naturaly funny, or they try to be funny and aren't....

Like best love. Everyone loved Doko Jin.... I hated him and didn't find funny at all, I was annoyed and give up watching.... see maybe I'm the one with the problem here...

OMG, I am not alone! I loathed Dokko Jin! He was like Bugs Bunny on speed!

it's MOST definitely YAY for me. it's one of the best dramas this season. it's NOT an office drama and I did not know that Ji Sung can act comedy much better than his other characters. maybe he did not know that himself.
but I really don't know if this is something you like or not. I dropped Heartstring from ep1 but you seem to love it. same with Mary Me Mary :-)
but as far as good drama goes, I think this one is great fun to watch.

I like slice-of-life otps even in flawed dramas :)

Not an office drama? Yessssss.

Lol your post comes just after my download of the first episode has finished! And I'm also checking it out because of Koala XD Shall get back to you after I watched it :)

Three episodes later XD I agree with the others: it's really great! Definitely not an office drama (despite the elements of the genre), even though it's still early, you can tell this is a romcom at heart. I like how they're fleshing out both the characters and the relationships between the leads and the secondaries - obviously not all details are out yet, but none of the main four is uninteresting. And the heroine who stands up for herself and will not let anyone bully her, yay!

Be warned though, it IS pretty wacky (not quite Myung Wol level, but everything is just a tad more crazy than it would usually be) and I think those kind of things are either hit or miss with you. I think you should check out an ep or two and see whether it does anything for you :)

Yes, wacky is very hit and miss with me (loathed Best Love, adoring Myung Wol. Hated Hana Kimi adoring Ouran etc) but seeing you and everyone else loves it, I am going to give it a try.

I really like it, and that's after watching three episodes. Ji Sung's character is totally wacky and odd - yet I find him strangely endearing (and wonderfully acted of course). Plus it doesn't hurt that we're given glimpses of his serious, damaged side, which is intriguing and full of angsty-promise. As they say, there IS method to his madness. Though on a superficial note, his hair does annoy me, lol.

And of course, seeing his secretary whipping him into shape is all kinds of fun - I'm already loving this sassy no-nonsense heroine. And though there *are* some elements of an office drama here (the catty coworkers, the underdog, office/family politics) it really doesn't feel like one - it seems much fresher for one thing. My only complaint is that I've never been a Jaejoong fan (outside of his singing, I mean), so his acting has always been very blah to me, and in this, it's no exception. But that's just me - you may love him to bits. ;)

I'd give it a shot. After the first episode, you'll probably know whether or not you'll like it.

Mmmm, this reminds me I need to finish Royal Family. The thing is, I love him so much in intense dramas, this is going to be odd.

Ooooh, elements of offie drama? Eeeek. Seriously, I am so allergic to the genre. /trepidation

Ahh, really, don't let that scare you. Like I said, it doesn't feel like an office drama at all. It's more like a parody, if anything: it's taking what you know of the genre, and turning it on its head.

I mean, *this* secretary is not the type to be pushed around, and taken advantage of. And seeing the way she reacts to the pompous, arrogant people around her is part of its humor and charm. And honestly, on a pie chart, the office elements would only comprise a small share of the entire graph...

I can't wait to see your reaction to this drama. I think you'll enjoy it as much as we do. ;)

I LOOVE IT. It is wacky but not like hong sisters wacky. The heroine is really tough and cool, she doesnt mope, she stands up for herself, and she's also a genuinely kind person without being twee. ji sung is really great imo, this is the first role i've ever seen him in and he is nailing the character of ji heon. i love ji heon he's suffering from some anxiety disorders and because of that he feels unmotivated. he acts like a jerk but you can tell deep down he's just lost. he's a funny jerk, kind of like Joo Won from secret garden but a bit more hot headed. he's also totally immature and reminds me a bit of doumyoji from hyd. the relationship between him and eun seol is really cute too. I also looove the squabbling between ji heon annd his cousin moo won played by jaejoong. their rivalry is is pure hilarity. basically its a really fun drama and IMO its not total fluff.

I've been wondering the same thing - wasn't initially drawn to this at all but everyone who's watching it seems to be really enjoying it...I'll keep an eye out for your reaction, am considering downloading it

I'll see how it goes.

Be warned, I am a MAJOR Ji Sung fangirl. Which reminds me, have you ever watched Save the Last Dance? It's ridiculously romantic (hilariously, in rl, Ji Sung hooked up with secondary girl from that drama and they are apparently still together though vvvv low key).

I like it, it's fun cute and the cast are doing a great job portraying the characters. Ji Sung's character is a bit wacky but he also has serious moments and Choi Kang Hee as Eun Seol is great she stands up for herself and kicks ass literally.

I've been wondering the same thing. I had/have 0 interest in it but apparently its ratings are phenomenal and it piqued my interest. I wonder what all the fuss is about.

The preview they showed at the end of a City Hunter episode was terrible though. So I'm still a bit wary.

This is why PTB might be on track to be one of the best K-dramas this year in terms of quality.

It is actually a genre buster of a drama - part rom-com (bickering couple), part family drama (squabbles over succession and power struggles btw in laws), and part angsty melodrama.

The wacky antics are kept relatively low-key and fast paced, jokes are never dragged out.

The plot moves faster than a speeding bullet, with misunderstandings and secrets virtually nonexistent or dealt with immediately.

The most functional chaebol family in decades. Dad LOVES his son, but is upset he can't encourage his son to TRY. Grandma loves her son and her grandson, but is hands off and wants to trust them. The in law fighting is out in the open, and completely believable.

No Bad Guys, and two funny and realistic second leads, who are just as emotional and immature and interesting as the two main leads. It's a foursquare of fascinating characters for me.

And the main lead has some serious pyschological issues that really add the emotional ooomph to this drama. And his friendship with the heroine is wonderfully sane and sweet to watch develop.

PTB is the whole package - an intelligent, well-directed, perfectly acted drama. It doesn't have a hook (like Princess's Man or City Hunter) but it's solid and worth checking out to see it appeals to you.

Love your description. Yes, it's really nice to see chaebols being depicted like real people.

Love the shoulder checking between Ji Heon and Jejoong's cousin character. Love their immaturity.

It's interesting - I usually need hooks for dramas - either the concept ("North Korean spy must marry Hallyu star") or genre (revenge - I will check out pretty much anything with that theme). Dramas that have neither I often skip but later find out I like them after all.

You know what I am really dying for? A proper good melodrama. There hasn't been one since Christmas, a year and a half ago. Luckily next year looks better in that regard.

I've only seen the first episode, and so far, I am not loving it but I am willing to keep watching it to see where it goes.

The main guy annoys the hell out of me, the girl is all right, but all of that weird comedy vibe reminds me of The Greatest Love, so..... I don know. I'll probably watch two more episodes before deciding.

I think you should watch the first three or so and then decide.

I'm the same way here. I like reading the recaps from Ockoala but I need more episodes of consistent quality before I'm sold that this is the most awesome series ever. I think it's because I've been burned too many times with dramas where everything looks like the stars have aligned for a great drama and something then goes wrong.

Ok then, never mind. I made it to episode 4 and I like it. I really like it! It's not as goofy anymore, and it has some good comedy moments.

I might wait and marathon it at the end though. Seems like it would make a good marathon drama.

You did said the lead female's face annoy you. But do not let that stop you from watching this awesome drama! I wasn't too fond of her looks also, but she's actually not bad of a actress! XD

Watch at least till epi 3, it gets better and better as it goes on! But then, don't expect too much also, anything with high expectation are bond to disappointment.

I really do hope you will give it a shot! I would love reading your opinion and views it!
