Family Honor - I have a new obsession

My current obsession with The Princess' Man sent me on a major Park Shi Hoo craving, preferably in something where the odds of a happy ending are not 0.02%.

And then I remembered I had all of Family Honor already in my greedy hot hands. And that FH was written by the same writer who wrote Gloria (one of my all-time favorite dramas) and Pick the Stars (a drama that I adored to a ridiculous degree). And I was set.




Two episodes in and I am so glad I decided to do this (though my eyeballs might not thank me as I foresee another marathon) - I am obsessed. Just as in Gloria and PtS, Family Honor features strong women and complicated men, a fascinating milleu, and secondary and even tertiary characters I find fascinating. Our heroine is a widow in a large, traditional, and pretty dysfunctional family. Our hero, played by Park Shi Hoo, is a nuveau riche upstart with a chip on his shoulder who cannot help but be fascinated by her. This is so good!

I tried it ages ago but it was with horrific subs and awful vids so I couldn't stick it. But now I have great subs and crystal-clear vids and yeah...sleep is a distant prospect now. Also, pretty much airing drama except for The Princess' Man is likely on hold.

I AM OBSESSED.

Side note - what is it about Park Shi Hoo? He's nothing to look at in stills but the second he is on screen, my heart leaves my body and pretty much into his character's vicinity in a stage of slavish adoration. I am so glad TPM is a hit (its ratings keep rising - it was almost 17% for the latest ep) as this means more PSH on my screen. I have yet to see him in a role I didn't like even when the drama itself does not work for me (Iljimae, I am looking at you).

I LOVE this show! I haven't watched a lot of PSH dramas but this one I watched religiously bad subs or no subs. I just couldn't drop it! He just sucked me in!!
And the rest of the story had enough draw for me that I didn't have to skip around. Fun watch but I think I'd kill myself if I was marathoning it now. Not enough time in the day for me.

Yay for Family's Honor! I watched that myself a few months ago. I was able to get through half of the series in a week. It had such interesting characters and great OTPs that carried the drama, it was easy to lose track of time while watching it.

The only versions I could find before were either offsubs/awful vid or the really pricy boxset which I didn't want to buy sight unseen (I mean, it was US$100).

And then with2 had a special for via.

I am in the middle of ep 4 and am so obsessed. It reminds me a lot of Gloria in that this presents this mundane, real, irresistable world and I don't want to skip a second. ALSO PARK SHI HOO!!!!! He's so sweet to his vvvvvv troubled sister and he totally has some sort of weird connection with heroine so excited.

what is via? omg i'd love to get good quality version w/great eng sub of this show! i only got this mediocre chinese dvd...but then, there is quite a bit of episodes in this one. *sigh*

i am so addicted to this drama...but mostly, the insane chemistry & love story between KS & DA. They make angst love story SOoooo good! Trust me, I am never one for angst, but I just can't stop watching them! omg...wait till you get to 29ep onwards!

Family Honor is awesome.
I feel the same way about Park Shi Hoo! Never understood why everyone went crazy about him (saw pictures but didn't think anything of it, really) until I saw him in Prosecutor Princess and gaaaaah, he makes the characters he plays so real and heartbreaking.

LOL I agree 100% about PSH; the first time I saw pictures of him, I was like, "...who is this guy who looks bug-eyed and weird?!" But then I caught sight of the FH poster, where he looked kind of cute, and decided to give the drama a go (shallow!) and HOLY HOTNESS. If I knew better quality would've gotten you into FH earlier, I would've ripped the subs from my DVDs!

There's nothing sadder than discovering him back when he was pretty much unheard of though, LOL. I didn't even know when his next drama was going to be, but now that he's a popular leading man, I feel safer in ignoring the tragic The Princess' Man and waiting for something happier. :P
