Period cdramas remain my favorite dramas, so it's no surprise to say I am quite interested in Phoenix Totem a.k.a. Love War a.k.a. War of Desire, which stars Zhang Han, Bai Bing and Zheng Shuang. Spcnet sums ups the story as A Tang dynasty love epic. A tale of three childhood friends, their friendship and love. Through the trials of the deep palace and the temptations of power, will love never change and friendships stay true? Zhang Han, Bai Bing and Zheng Shuang plays three childhood friends whose lives change when the lovers Zhang Han and Bai Bing are split up when Bai Bing is sent to the palace. While Zheng Shuang maintains his innocence outside the palace wall, betrayal and intrigue changes Bai Bing's character as she schemes for power. When her coup fails, the three childhood friends escape together on a boat. On the quiet lake, it was as if they returned to their childhood, but everything has changed.

I am almost certain enough to stake money on the fact that Zhang Han and Zheng Shuang will be the endgame OTP despite the synopsis btw - they were the OTP of the wildly successful Meteor Shower dramas (which were SO not my thing but mmv) so it would be quite shocking to bust up the dream OTP.

This very short teaser is out. It doesn't make any sense to me but I don't speak Mandarin. I am surprised there is a trailer at all, so early in the filming (which would probably explain the single location throughout).

A killer Nana/Yoon Sung MV and a poll
Jun. 19th, 2011 10:18 pmIt's heavy on eps 7 and 8 but who can blame the vidmaker because those eps were beyond amazing.
I don't know if you are reading girlfriday's recaps on DB but in her ep 8 recap she made a wonderful point - Yoon Sung has always been terrified he'd somehow hurt Nana. But after the end of ep 7, he's equally terrified she'd hunt and hurt him. Oh God, I cannot stand another IRIS or Hong Gil Dong. Please give me a happy ending. Or an open one, a la Time between Dog and Wolf (which is what this drama reminds me of, only through a manga-sensibility lens).
Also, out of all the pre-drama posters, the one which now makes the most sense is this (and the weird one with the fluffy dog seems to be from another drama entirely. WTF, promo makers? Though I am cutting them some slack because CH is such an insane blend of genres which seems somehow to work but must have been insanely hard to convey through the promos - pretty much the same problem Tamra had).
You know, I really need to make a list of my top revenge dramas (short snd off-the-top-of-my-head version Mawang, IRIS, Time Between Dog and Wolf, Vigilantes in Masks, City Hunter, A Love to Kill, Green Rose, Resurrection, Return of Iljimae, Swallow the Sun, Prosecutor Princess, Kurosagi, Lobbyist, Guilty. I'd love to stick Black and White and SoraKara into there somehow but I can't possibly stretch the definition of revenge drama that far.)

The only drama that can possibly rival City Hunter for the amount of space it occupies in my heart is the family/revenge/romance wonderfulness that is Can You Hear My Heart.
Yet, I find myself ten episodes (!!!!!!) behind. I think it's because not only does it demand a lot of concentration and time (I want my CYHMH uninterrupted with extra time for rewatching and capping, just as I do with CH) but also I find myself hoarding. Still, shame!
Have a MV of my main reason for love, the OTP of Woori and Dong Joo. In a drama with some dark themes, these two are remarkably sane and amazing, especially considering the trauma of their backgrounds.
Have another one:
I shall watch no other drama, except CH, until I am caught up :)
