Am working on insanely long, cappy, and detailed post on Feng Shao Feng/Myolie Wu's characters in SoaB. God, how I loved them. But now their storyline is done and the only thing keeping me going is assassin/general. Speaking of, mmmmm:

Even more mmmm:

Oh, why couldn't the drama be about FSF and Myolie or Yang Mi and Mikey He? Watching them, OTOH, only throws into sharp contrast how little the rest of the drama is working for me - I need characters I can love and root for. If I have those, I can get through a really flawed drama happily but if not, no matter what else the drama has, it won't work for me. And SoaB, though objectively having a better screenplay than e.g. Four Women Conflict, doesn't work for me because I loathe the protagonist and her husband.

blah blah blah rant )

Anyway, FSF/Myolie will get their own post, but for now, here is epicness of assassin/spy in the most epic scene that ever epiced. Basically, his army is surrounded and they are all about to die, and assassin breaks through to them to fight and die with them (or more specifically, with general) and in process reveals her mad kungfu:

And then there is angst and staring:

And then he makes her leave to save her life. Despite some really tempting temptations:

Oh my God, at this rate you will die of old age before you get together!

I continue to be bemused how Yu Zheng managed to write two such amazing secondary OTPs and such an awful main one.

Fair warning - once Yang Mi/Mikey He is done, I am dropping this drama, on the off-chance you care about the fact.

They are the sole thing that keeps me watching now.

Viki started subbing Fight and Love with a Terracotta Warrior - i.e. the drama I was so interested in, I watch a dozen eps raw.

I will emerge later. Much later.

In other, very important news:

I sort of assumed that if you were a denizen of a harem, the only company you got was (a) other ladies (b) eunuchs (c) emperor, who's probably old, fat and/or full of STDs.

I did not realize you get your own poseable Feng Shao Feng if you signed up. Hmmmmmm - time to consider a career change, self?

Anyway, the above is related to an upcoming period cdrama called (surprise, surprise!) The Royal Harem and it reunites Ady An and Feng Shao Feng yet again, this time as yet another star-crossed pair. She's one of the new concubines imported into the palace in order to help the emperor to produce an heir. He's...well, not the emperor. You can see how well this is going to end, I am sure.

Full disclaimer - I have no idea of the ending, but come on, who are we kidding? It's a period drama and she's the emperor's concubine. And in any event, Ady/FSF seem to specialize in shippy misery x infinity. Though when I was joking that they should start lopping limbs off for their next drama as it's about the only angsty thing that hasn't happened to them on-screen, I was kidding. But seeing they stuck them in the Ming Dynasty, apparently not.

Delicious delicious delicious caps )

Can't wait!!!

As you can probably tell by now, SoaB and I are not working out. But if there is one thing I loved unqualifiedly about it, it was Feng Shao Feng and Myolie Wu as Liu Zhang and Lu Yu - their story was everything I love in dramas and I ended up wishing the drama was about them entirely. I loved their story and their characters and their chemistry. Once their story ended, it's like all the colors went back to faded and my interest plummeted.

It's like they were acting in another drama altogether. That drama being like too many delicious kdrama romcoms or period romance novels, only set in the beginning of Han Dynasty.

You remind me of my mother. In drama terms, this is a declaration of love, pretty much )

To be continued in Part 2, in which more misunderstandings occur, the old favorite of "hurt him to save him" situation arises, and Mousie's favorite scene occurs. It involves a fish market, a red carpet, and a certain hot aristocrat walking on his knees and begging forgiveness.
