1. Oddly, after ep 6 of Pick the Stars, I don't hate the hero any more. I don't particularly like him or ship him with the heroine but at least my desire to stab him any time he is on screen is lessened. He let her and the kids stay for a month (which is I was looking for), even signed a ridiculous contract with her, and she totally bosses him around. This I could live with.

2. I checked out Woman who still wants to marry ep 1 - I need subs. It's a dialogue-heavy drama so I am lost without subs (a scene where 3 heroines talk for 5 minutes kinda doesn't do it for you if you don't understand what they are saying, etc). I basically ffed until the last 10 minutes which is where Kim Bum showed up being really hot. His and heroine's meeting was loltastic - she is supposed to film something there but can't because he's playing a guitar with an amp really loudly and refuses to turn it down/off long enough for her to film despite her repeated requests. So she cuts the cord. Heh. That's kind of fearless, because how does she know he is not a gang member/violence fetishist/guy with too many soju bottles inside him/etc and won't punch her or similar? As to the heroine, I am mixed - she hasn't done anything for me to dislike but she plays her character with these 'cutesy' mannerisms that seem de rigeur for any over-30 female single character in a kdrama - and whether in Kim Sam Soon, Dal Ja's Spring, or 9 End 2 Out, these mannerisms always drive me nuts. Cutesy gets old fast when you are out of high school. (One of the reasons I liked City Hall was that the cutesiness quickly stopped). That's not a deal-breaker though and I do like her actions a lot, so the verdict is still out.

3. I have read spoilers for preview for ep 7 of Chuno and I think I may expire from excitement. Also, Mr. Mousie and I had the best time last night trying to come up with cheesy pick-up lines that slave hunters may want to use :)

4. After my last disastrous foray into Thai dramas had a chance to fade from my mind, I thought it would be fun to check out another one. Then I came across this poster:

Princesses in danger, hunky bodyguards etc etc.

YES PLEASE.

Now that everything has come out, more or less, here is what I will be watching this January-February-March:

SLAVE HUNTERS/WALLFLOWER/PICK THE STARS/THE WOMAN WHO STILL WANTS TO MARRY.

Or as Andy Warhol would put it:

I plan to either give up out of lack of interest, wait until they are fully subbed, or I have more space in my schedule for the rest.

Dramas I might watch if the slate clears/subs appear ASAP/I get bored with one of my watches: Pasta, Jejoongwon, The Reputable Family, Down with Love, Shinsengumi Peacemaker, Tokujo Kabachi, Calling for Love, Saigo no Yakusoku.

Dramas I have no interest in whatosever: Assorted Gems, God Of Study, Will it snow on Xmas, Three Brothers, Loving You a Thousand Times, Creating Destiny, Smile You, Angel Bank, Code Blue 2, Ryoma den, Salaryman Kintaro, The Pink Lipstick.

I don't even know about the existence of the rest.

Flist, you are all on notice!

How come nobody informed me of the upcoming Spartacus 13-ep TV series, which has also been renewed for a second season already.

Seriously.

PEOPLE.

Come on!

There is no trope I love more in fiction than a slave uprising. It might be my Communist upbringing, or my contrariness, or maybe the fact that Rafaello Giovagnoli's novel Spartacus was not only one of my earliest book loves but also produced my first ever crush (yes - I wrote a love letter to Spartacus when I was 8. My mother still has it somewhere to blackmail me with). But there is nothing in fiction world I love more than slaves revolting against their masters and showing them what for. And if the slave in question is Spartacus? SIGN ME UP NOW.

This will probably suck and I DO NOT CARE.

Worlds Within is still my favorite drama from any country, and actually *gasp* my favorite bit of television from anywhere, period. I feel a rewatch coming on. I think I love it so because this is the closest I have ever seen a drama or a show come to depicting people like the people I know or can identify with. I am binging this weekend.

Shipyy MV:

MV with kissing:

WW was a drama with a small but rabid fanbase - many people didn't care for it, but those who did went rabid and I am one of them.

If there was one drama I could take on a desert island this would be it. It's a drama I am irrational about. If you don't like it, I just know I won't ever truly trust your taste again because on some basic level our tastes are not compatible.
