Girl Assassins and other awesomeness

u1. Does anyone on my flist plan to check out Can't Lose, the romcom that is replacing Heartstrings next week? I confess I just cannot get interested, despite my love for Choi Ji Woo and Yoon Sang Hyun. I am not that good with kdrama romcoms (which is why my love for Spy Myung Wol is such a delightful surprise) and the premise of divorcing lawyers sets my teeth on edge - lawyer shows and I don't mesh well. Still, YSH/CJW does sound very delightful so I probably will check it out if flisties love it.

2. Subs for first 6 eps of Yamada Takayuki's fantasy jdrama Yuusha Yoshihiko to Maou no Shiro are out. I know what I am doing with my free time. YT is one of very few jactors where I will automatically watch something because he is in it. He is possibly my favorite jdrama actor.

3. Speaking of dramas I am interested in - seeing it's a cable drama, chances of subs or even raws are slim, but I am totally pre-obsessed with Girl K, a three ep kdrama about a high schooler who is actually an assassin seeking revenge for her mother. That's a wonderful upending of the usual revenge tropes and sounds completely up my alley.



It stars Han Groo, who is apparently a pop star, but I am pretty unfamiliar with kpop so I don't know much about her. The MV for the drama (not sure if it's merely 'inspired by' the drama storyline or a trailer) makes me crave this so ridiculously much:

I'm checking out can't lose! I love romcoms, and I enjoy court scenes so if there is alot of verbal sparring via courtroom scenes I will be super happy. I love romcoms though so this drama will have to be like really crap or hit my pet peeves to make me hate it. that said i have stopped watching myung wol even though i liked it initially. i have no reason to stop i just got behind and dont feel invested enough to catch up. i'll just read the recaps at dramabeans. I am loooving protect the boss though.

I'm probably going to check Can't Lose on/off if it's nothing spectacular. As in, I'll watch the first episodes and wait for it to finish, watch the end, and then go back and watch the middle. XD

I think it's dead in the ratings though - Princess Man is getting very close to 20% and Protect the Boss is in high teens. Not much left for CL. But we'll see.

I'll wait for PM to finish and then marathon it. It's a PSH drama so it's a given I have to watch it. I kinda went on a marathon of him in the last week or so. It started with Family Honor, Prosecutor Princess, Perfect Neighbor and now I am downloading Queen of Reversals. I think I found a new love for him that I never knew I had.

Ditto on law dramas; they either set my teeth on edge or send me straight to sleep. I might check out Can't Lose anyway after I marathon the final stretch of You've Fallen for Me next week - I got so invested in the main couple of YFFM that I couldn't cope with being hooked onto other kdramas and have thus been avoiding everything, so when that's done it's time to try new things again. :P I tend to like the idea of romcoms but the execution usually ends up disappointing me, so we'll see how that goes! I'm planning to try PtB as well, if only for Jaejoong. ♥ Plus I've heard nothing but good things about it so far.

OMG that music video is cute! I had glanced briefly at the plot/poster for Girl K before but it sounded too dark for me. That MV puts a new spin on it though, and all of a sudden I WANT. That could partly be due to ZE:A's Dong Joon (the boy in the MV), whom I generally don't care much about but is adorable there - I didn't even realize he was part of the cast! As for the storyline of the MV, I think it's pretty close to being a trailer. All the actors are from the drama and events fit in with I've seen from the drama so far.

CL might be more interesting if Choi Ji Woo's character didn't appear to be the usual "tough female lawyer" type. I kind of enjoyed how ditzy CJW was in 1 Night 2 Days - it would've been hilarious if her character in CL was along those lines. Also, despite all the fuss over CJW and YSH together, they don't match visually, IMHO. Considering how many times I've been forced to eat my words this year though, it'll probably turn out to be awesome now.

Looks like I'll be scouring the net for Girl K as well. It looks like just my cup of tea, plus I have an automatic love for unlikely assassins born of my undying love for Gunslinger Girl.

On the other hand, will probably check out Can't Lose as I'll watch almost any comedy. I need the laughs.

Girl K sounds great. I'm definitely checking out Can't Lose since lovers with history is a fave trope of mine. And we'll get that plus all the cute honeymoon parts of the relationship as well since they'll eventually start over. Yaaaay, everyone wins. :D
