So, any thoughts on the current strike by TV writers in US, currently bringing US TV to standstill?
I don't know enough on the issues to have very many thoughts, but what's your take?
To me, it's bizarre how little it affects me. I only watch one US show anyway, Battlestar Galactica, and considering they weren't even going to start airing first half until April and go on a mid season hiatus after 10 eps are filmed, anyway (plus RDM said they are committed to finishing the storylines), it doesn't affect me that much.
Anyway, this made me think of BSG.
I found these Helo/Athena comments on TWOP and I am cracking up like a maniac:
“Plus the fact, he's like 28 feet tall, and Grace Park is both supremely gorgeous and buff like all get out, the two of them can take Galactica apart with their teeth.”
And this, which, if you don’t know anything about the show, must come across as psychotic: “The scene where Helo shoots her is so fucking awesome. I love them and the crazy lengths they'll go to. I hope they make more Cybrid babies.”
Also, if I see another person say Lee is whiny, I will have to stab something. Yes, Lee is my favorite character, why do you ask? But seriously, ‘whiny’ is a 12 year old girl wanting the Barbie playhouse. No one on BSG is frakking whiny! Not even Baltar. Argh.
fire_snake and I had an awesome hour or so (according to my cell timer) discussing Kara/Lee. Ahhhh. I really do think ‘Unfinished Business’ is my second fave BSG ep, behind only ‘33’. I do love that Kara, even with all her self-sabotage* will do anything to get his attention. She’s OK with hatred (in fact, it fits her self-loathing pradigm) but she can’t bear to think of him as completely immune, indifferent. She will do anything to break through.
*she can’t let herself have him because she wants him too much. She is afraid he will realize her true self and leave her, so she should push him away first. It’s a pattern. Heck, it’s a sign of her caring for Anders, when she starts doing it with him too. She can’t bear to have a person close to her know she is a frak-up, know she is damaged, and still love her. Her mother really did a number on her.
