I found this awesome otp MV for the Russian miniseries adaptation of one of my favorite French novels, La Dame de Monsoreau (by Alexandre Dumas).

The main character is Comte de Bussy, the favorite of Prince d’Anjou. He is gorgeous, very proficient with weapons, extremely passionate and much too haughty. One night he is ambushed by the King’s minions and manages to escape during the fight by b&e into an unknown house where a mysterious woman cares for him during the night and he falls in love with her. A very very complicated plot follows.

Italian police have arrested a Russian "ninja" who had been spreading fear across farmlands in the north of the country. The man, camouflaged in an all black suit, had robbed several farmers and their families at knife point, police say.

Police had been searching for him for several weeks.

Ninjas were trained for stealth. They first appeared in 14th Century Japan and were famed as assassins and spies.

Outwitted

For several weeks the police had been scouring the countryside looking for shadows.

The "ninja" was known to have struck several times - his head wrapped in a black bandana, a powerful bow in one hand and a knife strapped to his leg.

He targeted isolated farms late at night forcing farmers to hand over cash and valuables at arrow point.

His victims were usually so afraid they didn't report the attacks until some days later.

But on Monday night the "ninja" was outwitted.

As he smashed through the door of a farmhouse, a feisty old pensioner was waiting for him.

Former soldier

The old man came down the stairs but tripped on the last step letting off his rifle.

Startled, the "ninja" made his escape, hopping onto a bicycle and racing off into the nearby cornfields - followed by police who were quickly on the scene.

Police eventually trailed him to an abandoned farmhouse where he was arrested.

He was later identified as Igor Vaclavic, a former soldier from the Russian army.

He was caught carrying night scopes and a head torch.

When asked about his chosen disguise, he told police he had been inspired by his boyhood idol - Robin Hood.

Momentous decision. Or not.

Since I read the Hana Kimi manga and am familiar with the story, I am going to watch the jdrama unsubbed as soon as it comes out.

Which means liveblogging a la Hanadan. Which means hours of my day eaten away. Which means...please tell me they are going to start this on a weekend?

Liar Game and other yayness!

Flipping through my Hanadan 2 posts reminded me of the awesome hotness of Matsuda Shota (someone referred to him as 'the coca cola factory of hot' :D)

It also reminded me of:

a. the fact that I have much too much fun liveblogging and
b. I only saw the first ep (!!!) or Liar Game even though I loved it.

So when I get home, I am going to do a little marathon and liveblog.

Yay!

ETA: EEEEEEEEEEEE! Just discovered Matsuda Shota will be starring in another drama this summer, called Jotei. According to a person at d-addicts it's about a "girl who becomes a cabaret hostess when her formerly carefree life is disrupted. Aspiring to pay those who hurt her family back with their own coin, she gets into the cabaret hostess world to get money & power. Shota stars as the guy who protects and helps her along the course."

MMMM.

Yeah, angsty swindlers seem to be a thing of mine.

I am also trying really hard to hold off ProDai until it ends (managed with TattaKoi) but it's really hard.

Liar Game and other yayness!

I am reading Queen’s Play and what an awesome book it is. When I first read it, years ago, it was my least favorite of the bunch (though I did like it a lot) but now I adore it.

Her writing is so beautiful. And once again, I am strcuk by parallels. The night Lymond spends with Oonagh, where he gives her a gift of forgetting who she is (and even who he is) is both similar and different from his night at the very end of LC with Philippa, because there too, with Philippa, he is able to let go of everything and forget everything but the “needs of his body” but there is no forgetting of whom he is with because the whole point is that he is with Philippa, whom he loves more than anything.

I am also loving Richard here but what I want to talk about is Robin Stewart. I was much younger when I first read this and I didn’t reread it since, so it completely escaped me that he is in love with Lymond. Thwarted and obsessive love. I think Robin (and his reactions, and his death) are a big part of the reason why Lymond reacts to Philippa the way he does in CM, by holding on to the believe that her love is infatuation, brought by his ‘glamor’ and that it would hurt her. Because part of it is his usual dichotomy: he knows he is gorgeous outside but believes himself to be hideous monster inside, and that is why the Thady disguise: I think part of it is his belief to match the outside to inside and part to see if he can achieve things disburdened of his looks. But a part of it is because Robin brought most forcefully home to him how someone can fall under his spell, without knowing the real Lymond and suffer for it.

I think perhaps (jumping ahead) that is why his struggle with Gabriel is the scariest. Gabriel is Lymond’s dark mirror, what Lymond would be if he abandoned his overwhelming humanity and was what people in GoK thought he was, down to the incest.

OMG, is Tae San, Kang Jae's hunky second in command, in love with Kang Jae's gf? (who is being a bit bitchy). Awesome. They should hook up, and Sae Yeon (who is amazing and I want him myself since Mi Joo doesn't) should hook up with secretary girl, and then Kang Jae and Mi Joo (who do awesome staring and interaction) should be together.

As you can tell, no Liar Game as I am watching Lovers (am on ep 11).

P.S. Why did no one inform me that not only does Shoot for the Stars has a younger man/older woman romance and is a drama with that rare combo: Jo In Sung and a happy ending, but that it's a drama that co-stars JIS and Lee Seo Jin! Just think of the woobie hotness!

And earlier, when she was trying to teach him to use a computer? Who knew using a mouse could be so sexy.

Lee Seo Jin, why are you so incredibly awesome in all your dramas? I need a LSJ icon.

ETA: Yes, there are things more awesome? Namely, his yelling at Mi Joo afterwards because he is so terrified for her. And he strides off and she quietly walks off, a little dazed (because the gangster thing before he showed up was horrible enough) and she is wandering on the street and people are staring because he clothes are torn and then you see him run up behind her and he grabs her by the arm and EEEEE!

Stupid gf-whatever-your-name, tell him you miscarried and he'd ditch super-quick and be with Mi Joo.
