dangermousie: (Liz Max "too tired for tears" by lipstic)
Roswell occupied most of my August (just go and see my August entries. Most of them are verbose musings on various aspects of the show). But you know what? I was rewatching Ch-ch-changes today and it's still just as good. The chemistry is still crazy, the angst is still amazing, and Max is still a shade too intense for comfort and Liz too pragmatic and push-away trouble, and I love that they are flawed and good golly, I almost forgot what a huge OTP they are for me. Tender, and troubled, and so impossibly young.

I like them intense, I suppose. The bit where he is almost crying and she shuts the window on him anyway? Love.

Also, it was clever to do the whole "they meet because he saves her life." It's hard to be mad at him after that. Ever. After all, his life went to hell because of that. He got captured and tortured because of that. He got discovered by Tess because of that. But he discovered Liz and Liz fell in love with him, so it all evens out.

Ahhhhh....

I am watching the absolutely delightful, witty, romantic, hilarious screwball comedy Midnight, set in Paris of the 1930s, starring Claudette Colbert and Don Ameche as an American adventuress and a Hungarian taxi driver (yes, really). So much love: there is chemistry, and twisty plots, and strong and intelligent heroine who is wacky and cynical and charming (and at the end, of course, won over by love), and a funny, laid-back hero who believes in living in the moment and not worrying over much about the future or status or social position. And there are great supporting characters. What I love most is the dialogue.

Claudette: I landed a Lord. Almost. His family came between us. His mother came to my hotel and offered me a bribe.
Don: You threw her out, of course?
Claudette: How could I, with my hands full of money?

Heeee.
