Water, pictures of which I posted a bit earlier is opening at the Toronto festival. And I found out the plot.

Caution, spoilers (though not for the end). How fascinating: child widows, prostitution, eunuchs, fobidden love and tons of angst. Right up my alley.

Husband and I saw Brothers Grimm tonight.

I don't know whether to recommend it or not. We liked it, but it's a really idyosincratic movie, so I have no idea how it will strike others. I liked the feel of a really dark, Gothic fairy tale, the visuals (gorgeous), the rather dark humor, the twisty plot, and whoa...Matt Damon was HOT (not a thought I often have about him). Actually, his character was my favorite, that of someone who doesn't believe in fairy tales as a defense mechanism and under that really cynical exterior cares for his dreamer of a brother. My favorite scene was Spoiler )

They had tralers for The Corpse Bride, Aeon Flux and Walk the Line which looked fantastic and for two movies that looked hideous: some life affirming golfing flick and a Paul Walker diving movie (can the universe stand so much vacuum?)
