dangermousie: (Liz Max seduction by how_iconic)
Well, I am on a rewatch of Roswell (yes, I need a life. No, I don't plan on getting one) and it's actually a lot of fun watching earlier eps once you know how everything happens.

I have to give the show props for continuity. When I watch a Season 1 Max, Liz, Michael or Maria, I can see the seeds of S3 characters, and not go (as happened by the end with Buffy), "how did they get from point A to point B?"

It's not just character continuity either. I love that as early as first half of Season 1, they established that Max would rather leave the house than tell his parents the truth about himself. He offered as much to his mother. Of course, this being something of less magnitude than armed robbery and this being his mother (who does seem to be shown a lot more "I love my children I don't care" than his father), she doesn't take him up on the offer. But props to them for doing this. (Also found interesting that Michael sees adults as "the enemy," which given his foster father, is understandable. He does change his mind later on with Valenti, which is good).

Also, I am wondering what did Liz and Maria's parents think when their daughters dissapeared right after graduation. Did Max's parents talk to them? Or did they freak and call the police, or what? Am curious...

I was also thinking that minus the FBI and the severe issues, Max is actually a type of person I would be attracted to in real life: serious, introverted, very competent and with an overdeveloped sense of responsibility. Which actually makes him a pretty unusual main character for a show. Introverts usually aren't "It" as far as shows go :)

And last but not least. I am too progmatic. I am rewatching and going: "Liz, I know he saved your life and he is gorgeous, madly in love with you, and sweet. But the FBI wants him for dissection and his alien enemies want him dead. Maybe you are better off finding a safer bf, even if he won't be a soulmate." But then I turn into a mushy mess :)

Maria seems to spend more time in the hair salon than any person I know. But I love the Romulan hairstyle.

Also, the actors who play Liz and Max have psychotic levels of chemistry, which is the main reason the thing works...Woo-hoo!

I bring you new pictures from the upcoming melodrama Humko Tumse Pyar Hai.

The plot is making me sooooo happy. Amisha Patel plays the main character, a blind girl. She falls in love with the uber-gorgeous Arjun Rampal, who falls back in love with her. For a blind person she has the best taste! He protects her and arranges for her to have surgery to have her eyesight restored. But before she can see him for herself with her own (now working) eyes, he gets ambushed by the evil guys who he saved Amisha from and they kill him. Shattered, Amisha is taken away to Switzerland(naturally) so she'd forget. There she meets Bobby Deol (sorry, [livejournal.com profile] thelana), who is a millionaire who falls in love with her. She has no heart to give him, but he doesn't mind and she agrees to marry him out of apathy. They get engaged and his best friend comes for the wedding. It is...taDAH...Arjun who miraculously survived with his gorgeous looks intact. But, she is now engaged to another and has no idea what her true love looked like. And is he too honorable to break his best friend's happiness especially since he doesn't know her heart is not involved? I foresee a lot of angst that will make me happy. Also, now she is not blind, Amisha has no excuse to pick Bobby over Arjun.

This sound delightfully over-the-top sappy and with plenty of opportunities for Arjun angst.

Because I am feeling random, I decided to make a list of my fave TV scifi characters and their angst quotient. Also, a random write-up on Jane Eyre.

Show: Battlestar Galactica
Favorite character: Lee Adama
Who: The son of Galactica's commander, President Roslin's advisor and CAG.
Most adorable in: 33 (the first ep of the series): scruffy, strung-out, flying for days straight despite lack of sleep and bantering/flighting with Starbuck at the same time.
The biggest angst moment: Ep 2.01 (Scattered): being dragged away, handcuffed and screaming, from his father's body
Very Angsty or not: Not. Yes, his world has been destroyed (literally) but he does seem to be holding up pretty well.
OTP: Not really.
Maxed out my angst capacity: Nope. Doesn't angst enough. My reaction is usually "take off your shirt" rather than "oh no, I can't watch!"

Show: Roswell
Favorite character: Max Evans
Who: a hybrid human-alien who has been cloned from a dead ruler of planet Antar.
Most adorable in: "The Blind Date:" drunk, unreserved and mushily in love Max is so adorable I want to take him home and XXXCENSOREDXXXXXX
The biggest angst moment: Where do I start? 1:21 "The White Room" during which he is torturned mentally and physically and is finally broken when he is made to believe Liz is killed. Though the moment when he sees Liz and Kyle in "The End of the World" is also a winner.
Very Angsty or not: Yes. The type of character where if you know he is having a day where he doesn't want to scream in misery, something horrible is coming soon.
OTP: That's what the show is about. Liz/Max OTP.
Maxed out my angst capacity: Yes. I can't rewatch "The End of the World."

Farscape and Firefly here. General spoilers for all of Firefly, and S2 and PKWars of Farscape )

Gee, all it took for me was some kissing. Hmmmm....

Still not rabid though because not enough angst yet.

Helo/Boomer continues to rock my boat though. If only they had more screen time, I am sure I'd be a shipper for them. But I can't wait until they get back together with Galactica and Tyrol will see this Boomer.

The man already has severe issues. The way he is coping is pretending Boomer was a machine who could not love or be loved. And here he is going to be confronted with Sharon who loves and is loved by a human. *Blam* down go his walls!

And the whole it's Sharon, but it's not, and now she is with Helo is an additional complication. The man is going to need therapy.
