dangermousie: (CH: YS in bed by meganbmoore)
[personal profile] dangermousie

Sorry it took so long - I was psycho busy and thus no time to turn insane, typo-ridden squiggles into something coherent until now.

I present this epic scene without further comment (have blabbered on and on about it already).

Ahjusshi tells YS: "Even though you are at war with your father, a father is still a father." I am sure that is what YS thinks too, but I beg to differ. Undaddy is no blood relation and he brought YS up like a dog and tried to wreck his life. This is the one time it would be good to be a bystander.

Honestly, why is Prosecutor hunting CH - yeah blahblah criminal but shouldn't there be a priority - like Target 4 and any others. Prosec would never be able to catch anyone without City Hunter due to lack of clues or legal limitations. I bet a part of his rivalry is an unacknowledged jealousy that CH can circumnavigate the law and he can't, just like I think YS has an inferioirty complex that he's had the life he had and has to live the way he does, with lies and secrets, and Prosec has a 'proper' life.

Not like we weren't sure before, but yeah, "most cruel revenge in the world" didn't refer to all of the targets, just the Pres. Nice to see Undaddy is still going full steam even after YS saved his life. Gratitude, your name is not Undaddy. I really do think all of this re: Pres is because Undaddy feels the rest were slimy politicians so what else can you expect but Pres was their commander, sort of friend, father of KH's baby etc.

Great, he deflected his coworkers' suspicions but not the head of security's. This is going to be fun. And by 'fun' I mean 'can I bang my head against the wall?'

Awww, Pres wants to hang out with Yoon Sung. One one hand, it's adorable, on the other, horrific.

Blahblahblah bancruptcy for Target 4. Good, let's move on to the Target 5 and MISERY.

The symbolism! Pres is teaching YS to fish saying that was something his father taught him. Ah, my heart! You know, I've seen people complain that the paternity thing feels tacked in and unnecessary but I disagree - that is what turns it from a fairly linear revenge story into this complex conflicted thing. And explains so much about Undaddy.

The smirk on YS' face when Pres tells Target 4 he should have treated his workers well. I love my YS happy and well-adjusted (it helps that Nana is nearby).

The awkward walk of adorableness. I bet he sends her back sortly because if he's with her for more than a bit, he'd be distracted from revenge and never let her go. Though I have to say, Nana has a LOT more patience than I have. I would make him work for it after his fits, and she clearly won't. I don't care if a guy is a tall drink of water who saved my life twice (or more) and my house and my father's life and gives good kisses and backhugs and bares his soul to me...OK, maybe I have just talked myself into seeing Nana's point.

Dude, Chief Bodyguard is really trigger-happy! But he noticed that YS walks completely noiselessly. Uh-oh.

EEEEE! Did Prosec give info to YS on purpose so he'd rescue workers? Yes, he finally let himself acknowledge City Hunter does good. EEE! Cue uneasy alliance of my dreams!

THE COIN THING!!!! SO BADASS!!!!!

"All of them must die." Blahblahblah Undaddy, don't you know how to say anything else? You are like one of those parrot toys where you push a button and a limited assortment of phrases comes out.

Elevator fight was fun but not as fun as seeing Prosec wait for City Hunter with a ton of SWAT officers. I am beginning to believe Young Ju is having a major hard-on for YS, honest. Only explanation.

I loooove seeing Prosec foiled. Though listed, bitch, why arrest them because your pride is stung? I severely doubt it's a crime to dress like City Hunter. Moron!

I love that even when he thinks he's about to die, Prosecutor pulls off YS' masks because he wants to know so much, he's willing to die for it. Though I kept yelling 'just pistol-whip him, YS and leave him there!' It's like YS wants him to know.

Bring on the final *sob sob* week!

Yeah, I'm officially on the Prosecutor desires to be YS but also desires to be with YS train. You're right that he probably really envies that YS can do what he can't outside the strictures of the law. Plus, he is seriously obsessed. Like, even after getting the workers shares in the company with 100 won (Yes, yes, so badass! Swoons), the guy employs a whole swat team in order to catch him. I guess, he doesn't take it for granted that that's probably what it would take to get YS behind bars.

And then he forgets everything in order to chase him down and like a love interest in a Batman movie, pulls the mask from YS's face to see what lies underneath.

I don't think I'm even rage-y anymore when it comes to him because I'm too busy being boggled by his actions and if YS can't be bothered to care, why should I? Heh.

It's interesting that he didn't even flinch when Prosecutor took off his mask. He'd already decided to succumb to the inevitable. He wouldn't have let him get that close otherwise.

EEEEE! He told her to wait for him! I might have fist pumped during that moment. Although, it's so stupid that she's not staying with him. She's safer with him, why doesn't he get that? Ugh. Bloody Noble Idiot.

I'm so sad that CH is almost over, dm. I want it to last forever. Lee Min Ho! Yoon Sung! I miss you already!

Yeah, his obsession is gettinc completely insane and the only excuse I can think of is envy/competitiveness/lust. Seriously.

I looooved that he finally gave in to her - you knew his struggles was ultimately futile, he loves and heeds her too much. But I am so glad he decided to live - Nana is his hope just like Undaddy is the voice of darkness and despair.

I think he doesn't dare to have her in his house because if he does, neither is leaving for a week :)

I know, I want it to never end!

HEEEEEEEE, I love that cap of YS with his dorky glasses!

It's funny, watching the caps of the aquarium scenes feels different fro mwatching the actual scene on TV. We talked about the scene feeling a bit flat but when I look at the caps, LHM is very expressive. That means I need to watch it again (as if I needed an excuse!)

I bet a part of his rivalry is an unacknowledged jealousy that CH can circumnavigate the law and he can't, just like I think YS has an inferioirty complex that he's had the life he had and has to live the way he does, with lies and secrets, and Prosec has a 'proper' life.

DITTO! That is exactly what I think as well. Those boys are so messed up. In a way they weirdly mirror each other.

Do you think the president guessed/suspects about YS being his son? Or will he only know when he sees YS's handkerchief? Or will it be YS that sees the President's handkerchief and starts putting two and two together? That's such a huge plot point that will come so much misery. It'll probably be either at the very end of episode 19 or in episode 20.

I'm so glad you liked the coin thing as well. That was the best part of the episode for me and one of my favorite things in the drama. That settles it for me: YS is my favorite Kdrama hero.

Yes, he finally let himself acknowledge City Hunter does good. EEE! Cue uneasy alliance of my dreams!

Same here for me. This could totally be some season 2 fodder if they ever decide to make one, which I doubt.

I agree that YS wanted him to know. Not at first. It was pretty clear he intended to get the hell out of Dodge before YJ shot his tire. But then it's as if he was resigned to it. After all, he knows that YJ knows. I wonder how they'll go from here though. The police isn't coming because YJ went on his crusade all by himself, not even checking out target n°4 on the ground. So, will there be some conversation? Will YS knock out YJ and escape? Is it wednesday already?

Ok, back to watching QSS now, that'll appease my obsession with CH for a while.

His glasses make me jump him twice as hard!

I was really exhausted when I watched the aquarium part of the ep initially and I think it really affected my perception of it. When I rewatched it, I was awake properly and found it quite gorgeous (though I'd still love some cpr) and was fine with the relative lack of shipping in the ep (17-18 really did have least shipping since ep 1). I just hope when the inevitable bomb about father drops, it won't hurt YS too much, but we know it will.

Yeah, so YJ now knows 100%. So? No witnesses no evidence and he pretty much knew before. If I were YS, I'd just knock him out and continue on my way.

I honestly have NO idea what is going to happen in ep 19. Undaddy HAS to tell YS last target, but how is he going to convince him to go after the man? It's going to be horrible for YS even without knowing the paternity thing because he genuinely likes and respects the man and also going after Pres is suicidal. Also, there is nothing in Pres' life that could be used to bring him down except the 1983 incident itself and the paternity thing and - seriously my head hurts.

LMH + glasses (+ suit because the suit is important as well) = stuff of a fangirl's fantasy although I'm way too old to be a fg.

If I were YS, I'd knock YJ out also. But it might be good for them to talk as well. They need to talk face to face with no masks or barrier and since there's only 2 hours left, this would be a golden opportunity.

I'm still a bit peeved with the lack of shipping in episode 18 (I was fine with it in episode 17) but it's mostly because I'm pretty sure we won't get much more of it in the last two episodes either, except maybe for a couple of minutes in the epilogue if both YS and NN survive. But a bed scene or a kiss is pretty much out though I think.

Yeah, I have no clue what's going to happen either. Could the twist be that YS will actually refuse to go after the president? I know he would be conflicted about bringing down a man like the Pres but would still do it if it was for the good of the country. But here, I can't see what good it would do, especially with his term as president coming to an end soon.

+ the set up of the mistress/secret child is kind of weak if that's the only thing shady about him. One of our ex French presidents had a secret daughter outside of marriage (and during his presidental term IIRC) and it didn't affect him much. Granted Korea is more conservative but the worst that could happen is that he would have to resign. That's surely not enough to have him go to jail.

Something that I could see happening is the president being allowed to finish his term on the condition that he'll give himself up afterwards and finally confesses what happened in 1983. But that's counting without Undaddy's thirst for blood. I don't know how we could solve that.

One reason I could see it happening though is that a theme of the drama seems to be the redemption of fathers (please, Korean dramas, no more "the son must be responsible for the father's sins" mentality). I'm pretty sure YJ's father will wake up and they'll make up (although it will take some time), the president would be happier with his secret out and his family around him to help him or he would be a good candidate for dying actually, free to go in peace at last after he "makes it right' by confessing his secret. I also think that JP is headed towards redemption. I think his arc is that of someone who realizes (probably too late) that he loves the boy he raised as a weapon and doesn't want to cause him any more main and anguish.

But that's just speculation, I really have no clue what's going to happen. I keep reminding myself that 2 hours is enough for a good movie to play out but I just can't see a way to deal with all the plot threads left dangling in CH in that amount of time.

I do think two hours is enough to wrap up because YS doesn't have to uncover Pres' evil doings/trap him as he has none, will gladly confess soon.

Illegitimate kid deades ago, i can't imagine this is much scandal even in Korea. But I suppose target 4 believed Mom got an abortion and that is illegal in Korea and I can see how you can spin into stuff. Still, it's not like the guy is going for reelection.

I do hope JP shows some spark of humanity. I don't think he has enough left to give up his revenge, but maybe take a bullet for him or something. We know as long as he's alive, YS will have no peace.

Yeah, sadly no bed scene and almost certainly no kiss either. I wonder if it's because it has a somewhat younger audience than e.g. Dog/Wolf or IRIS, which both had bed scenes.

Date: 2011-07-24 01:51 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] cleobulle.livejournal.com
I'm still wary about the 2 hours but it's true that it's not as if YS would have to chase/frame the president.

I agree that JP wouldn't be able to let go of his revenge. It's the only reason he's still alive and he couldn't function without it. I could see him taking a bullet (to protect YS) and dying in YS's arms while saying he's sorry. A bullet from whom though? Maybe Nana's superior? He seemed on edge and trigger happy in episode 18.

The lack of bed scene might be because of a younger audience but I don't think it would explain the paucity of shipping we've had (kissing, shipping, scenes together). LHM fangirls go crazy for that kind of stuff. I think the drama could have possibly reached 25% in ratings if they'd kept up with the romantic side of things alongside the revenge story in the second part of the drama.

I'm with you. The moment killed me in the best way possible. Why so awesome? It might have been that moment, in his square glasses, that I realized that he is my favourite Kdrama male protagonist ever - and possibly my fave Asian drama hero or at least right at the top.

This could totally be some season 2 fodder if they ever decide to make one, which I doubt.

I don't want CH to finish ever but you almost don't want to mess with something that's already so good.

Yeah, why so awesome? I'm going to have a huge YS hang-up after CH ends. I don't know how I'm going to deal and I'm afraid all drama heroes to come won't hold a candle to him.

Too much of a good thing can be dangerous. I will be satisfied if the writers can give us a great end to a great drama. I'm a bit anxious because 2 hours is too short but I want to trust them.

But I'm not ready to say goodbye to you yet, City Hunter!!! *wails*

This is for the good, though, everryone's drama watching schedule is getting too packed lately - but I will sad to see my favourite go.

Emotionally, I was a bit underwhelmed with the aquarium scene - but then I was also half asleep when I was watching it XD But it was so beautifully shot, this drama is gorgeous! Ep 17&18 does little to whet my YS/Nana appetite, I demand more OTP moments for the finale; and some kissy wouldn't hurt, drama writers!

That chief body guard is making me nervous. Someone's going to get shot, aren't they, and it'll most likely be YS or Nana.

And oh prosecutor, your obsession makes me giggle. I wonder where they can go from here with the reveal. But I want to see more Sae Hee for the finale, please!

Yeah, I want SH and Prosec back together.

I watched that aquarium scene more than 10x and each time wishing it to at least have a CPR or a hug but to no avail...I was so desperate for a shippy scene...

Don't know what to think about prosec anymore he just annoys me to no end, he is running after YS for being CH because he is breaking the law but the way he is running after YS is breaking so many laws as well...Prosec is just making my head hurt...

President and YS scene scares me, I'm dreading the moment when YS finds out that the president is his father, that all this revenge thing is for him to kill his own father...hope he escapes this with sanity intact, I don't want him to be broken, poor baby...

Already missing CH...only 2 more episode don't know what to do after it ends...none of the new dramas are appealing to me at the moment...

Oh YS 'breaking' just sounds like the best idea in the history of ideas. IDK how he has kept it together thus far. I think Nana has helped keep him together just like he has kept her alive. I need fanfiction or ANYTHING to contiue this drama after it is over. I might actually be the one to break lol. Shoot I got into this drama not even thinking LMO was the slightest bit hot. In fact when they talked about Fugitive stealing CH thunder during its showing I laughed at it. I didn't care at all about LMH or CH. Look at me now. I search for information all over the net like a lifeline. I'ma need something to slow the bleeding after this is over...

FINALLY watched this episode just now!
Can't believe I took my sweet ol' time with this!

Since the most glaring thing in my memory is the final scene I'll start with that...I swear I'm so slow, I was still chuckling about Prosecutor's inability to hold onto his own pistol that I didn't even realize that he'd unmasked him.
I don't even know what to say except that I'm REALLY looking forward/Dreading our ending.
This has been such an enjoyable ride and I have not been this thoroughly on board with a drama in forever!
That fishing scene, so cute but gah, Father-Son...that's cruel >_<
I'm so glad YS finally tells her what he's been trying to convince himself he can hope for: that future with her once this is over.
I sincerely hope despite the trauma he's about to face he's going to get that future with her.
That coin exchange was just the highlight of this episode. Had me grinning from ear to ear! It's like an acknowledgment! Hopefully this means his SWAT team stunt is just his fixation to finally unmask YS. It's a stretch but maybe he'll leave it at that?!
Although considering the blow to his pride that YS gets to stop bad guys when he has to "wait" and bide his time with more proof I'm not too sure of it. Still the scene with his boss made me think of him as a young pup that needs to take a breather...

I think YS is going to be OK because he has people wo love him despite Undaddy's best efforts to isolate him. Well, if he survives, that is.
