I've got my OTP for Warrior Baek Dong Soo:

He's going to be an assassin! She's a noble lady whose clan is dedicated to protecting a secret book I am sure assassins are going to want and is supposed to be the Crown Prince's woman! Ahhhh.

Sadly, I bet they will be uncanon/one-sided because I can just tell the drama is setting her up with Dong Soo.

That is actually pissing me off because (1) Yeo Woon >>> Dong Soo as far as interest goes, for me and (2) Dong Soo should be with awesome archer girl if he has any brains.

She's his BFF and she is the one who saved both his and Yeo Woon's butts and (3) court lady is the 'pure and preachy' type that annoys me to no end. That would make her an awesome pairing for angsty assassin but outside of that I'd be happy if she was never on my screen.

I think they are going for Emperor of the Sea again, in which almost nobody preferred the heroine with Jang Bogo and everyone wanted her to return the love of angsty pirate Eom Moon. (For the record, I'd have preferred her with EM too, but I was fine with her love for JB).

Oh well. This is pretty much live-action anime in which Prince Sado fights ninjas, so I shouldn't take it so seriously.

Mmmm, Prince Sado. So sexy. Never in a million years did I think I would ever have occasion to type that sentence.

Oh, and then there is Sword Saint, the type of guy who likes doing one-handed pull-ups off the edge off a cliff, and is probably Joseon's answer to Chuck Norris.

So much ridonkulous fun! Preview finally promises me adult versions - about time, I am getting a bit antsy.

That Young Lady/Angsty Assassin boy shot was so blatant that i almost died of laughter over it. I think, though, that they're going with something a bit closer to Legend where both guys like Young lady at first but Dong Soo eventually falls in love with Tomboy? I think they're setting it up to start a triangle/square but end up with two separate pairings, like a lot of wuxia does. But they're setting up dong Soo to like Young Lady, but he's pretty clearly denying a crush on Tomboy.

I really like that this is actually involving Prince Sado, instead of just having his death as part of the backstory.

i cannot wait for Gwang Taek and Lady Assassin to meet up again.

I really hope that your right! Two seperate pairings is much better than a love triangle the whole way through.

I was confused about some comments on Soompi. Some think that the tomboy is the result of the one night stand between GT and Lady Assassin. Wouldn't that make DS and tomboy related? Or am I missing something?

Ahh, soompi is being special. I severely doubt tomboy is anything of the sort - we saw her father. Even if somehow it was the case, DS is a kid of GT's sworn brother and that bro's wife, i.e. not related to GT or any offspring of GT at all.

OH okay thank you for clearing that up for me! Now I can ship the two without feeling icky.
I must not have been paying enough attention to how everyone related to each other. Thanks for your help.

her father is connected to the assassins and seems to answer to Lady Assassin in some way. Depending on their relationship, and how much trouble she'd be in for having a kid (I'm not sure if she's the head assassin's mistres-I doubt it, as I don't see Gwang Taek ever acting on feelings for one of his friends' S.O., if he did have them-or second in command) and whether or not she'd want a kid of her to grow up to be an assassin, I could buy it if they went that route.

The closest to related is that they would have been raised as siblings if things had gone differently.

I like the idea of Tomboy as their daughter, but have no idea if they'd go that way. The big issue is how close she would be to Tomboy's father (adopted father if the theory were to pan out) and why/how she eould have hidden the pregnancy. Tomboy's father seems to go off on missions for months on end, so if it did happen, it probably wouldn't be too hard for him to ecplain away suddenly having a daughter. He would'nt even have to say she was really his, but just that she was an orphan he encountered.

I could see the guy being her adopted father. The only reason some people think that is because when he first showed up with her and was asked if tomboy was his daughter he skirted the question.

And if tomboy is the daughter of female assassin/Sword Saint then it would make sense why the sex scene was included.

Honestly, i would assume she's his adopted daughter even if she isn't theirs, due to the lack of mother/wife, and she would have been at least somewhat around in the firs part, but there was no hint he had a S.O. I mean, until there were orphages and legal processes, that's basically what happened to orphans: If they were lucky, there was a relative or friend of the parents to step in (like Sa Mo and the boys), otherwise they'd end up on the streets or servants, girls probably in a brothel if she was old enough to do chores until she could earn her keep the other way. In between there is someone coming along who's willing to take the kid in, either baby or older. And most sageuks I've seen have at least one case of a major character either taking in a kid or being orphaned and taken in by someone and growing up regarding that person as a parent. though none of the others have had dramatic biologfical parent reveals like that would be. (But then, almost every wuxia does, and this show is very wuxia.)

I assumed they'd liked/half-loved each other for a good while, but never acted on it because they were technically on opposite sides and she was his friend's subordinate. When she took off after he asked her to run away to China with him, I assumed we were heading towards a secret baby plot, but then Gwang Taek was separated from Dong Soo and I thought that instead of his mother, she'd end up training him, but it doesn't look like it's headed that way.

Your right about that. I guess I hadn't considered that there wouldn't be a plot reason for him to adopt her. But it could happen.

Thats what I LOVE about the pairing. Its like Romeo/Juliet with swords. I wonder about her loyalties and purpose in the assassin group. I don't really see Sword Saint hooking up with someone on the opposite side. This is a comic book kind of world and so the "good" guy wouldn't be with someone on the "evil" side. I kind of hope that she has a secret agenda for being in the assassin group but I could be reaching here..

I'm really confused about her purpose in the show as well. Like when is she going to come into the plot? She really hasn't done very much in the past episodes.

Yes, it's the first drama I've seen in which Sado is actively involved. I suppose it will make me feel even worse when he dies.

I like your Legend idea and can see it (I am find with them being another Kiha/Ho Gae even though that wasn't reciprocal). Tomboy is pretty much most awesome of the main four so should get what she wants. (I confess to not liking DS too much. I don't hate him or anything but I don't find him too exciting).

Assassin/Lady is hitting all my shippy kinks already.

I'm hoping it's 2 reciprocal pairings. Sageuks tend to be more likely to go that way than modern kdramas.

I like Dong Soo a surprising amount for a loudmouthed kid. Butthen, I normally strongly dislike loudmouthed Boys With Destinies. I'm assuming it'll be like Yang Guo where he's a lot more fun once he's grown up. But so far, he's one of the less interesting characters.

Yeah, I hope that too. The relationship chart lists DS/Lady as OTP though, ugh.

I'm assuming it'll be like Yang Guo where he's a lot more fun once he's grown up. But so far, he's one of the less interesting characters.

While DS is nowhere near as appalling as YG was, he isn't growing up to be Huang Xiaoming either, sadly.

Really? I haven't really looked at sageuk relationship charts much, so I don't know if they reflect initial feelings or the endgame intent.

But while I'm willing to like Lady/Dong Soo if the drama goes that way, right now it's the least interesting possibility between the main for, and i'm including Tomboy/Assassin and both slash options there.

At this point, Dong Soo is too...open and energetic for me to really see that, dramatically? if it were like young warriors with Princess/six where she's an adventurer too I could, but they seem to be taking Lady down the path where she feels burdened and control by expectations, and so is very reserved and keeps her feelings repressed. And while that doesn't make one a doormat at all, it makes me think that dong soo's energy would run roughshod over her because she'd let him go on and on so he'd get it out of his system, instead of thwapping him and telling him to behave.

Yeah, I have no idea about that. I also have no idea how long it is - the longer they go on, the more room for changes (Queen Seon Deok being best example. Bidam wasn't even supposed to be a big blip on the radar, let alone the endgame OTP).

Yeah. DS is a good guy but he'd run roughshod over anyone who's not pushy, without meaning to. Tomboy could keep him in check.

I don't particularly like Lady but I feel sorry for her - talk about getting a raw deal. Tomboy got a much better one.

maybe this was the reason Yoo Seung Ho wanted the role... it looks awesome from the start... while Dong Soo has the part where the char grows strong trough the series... assassin is going through angst with more angst
I shipped them too hard too ...2 protectors of the same thing/book/whatever .... been there done that... without too much conflict in the couple... but enemies? bring it on... that would be interesting :D to see him having the mission to off her in person... (or I have to much City Hunter in my blood?)
I must confess that I like the "child" actor (he was the young version of Kim SuRo and I was impressed there too) even though he is only 2 years younger than YSH

Yup, YSH's role looks the most interesting. I am sure he can pull it off. I still think he's too young for the role, but there is no question he has the dramatic chops.

Yeah, there is no conflict in DS/Lady at all. OTOH, Lady/Assassin - so much dramatic potential. Plus, I just like him better - it's sort of like period Baker King for me - I liked Tak Gu just fine but was all about conflicted trainwreck Ma Jun. Maybe WBDS will surprise me as much Baker King did and give me the otp I crave.

I've only read one chapter of the manhwa ('cause only one chapter is currently scanlated), but it looks like an alternate reality set-up, where perhaps Sado doesn't die. No idea if that's how the drama will play out, though...

I bet that kdrama won't lose the opportunity to have a hero killed.... Koreans love their angst
as I can see lately they try to save face with Prince Sado ... he was killed by his own father... and history gave us a few believable reasons ... he is supposed to be crazy and serial killer... (hardly u can find a monarch to allow a crazy or retarded offspring to follow the throne if the offspring isn't killed by concubines - see Ottoman Empire )
In our country in the same period (XVIII th century ) a monarch wasn't allowed to have even minor physical handicaps like limps, blindness etc therefore the next in line was the successor to the throne ... and often the next in line was a distant cousin (btw we had at least 3 monarchs at a time because there were 3 countries Moldavia, Transylvania,Wallachia... so we had plenty of cases too)
