Instead of watching my backlog, I am continuing with my SG rewatch. Such a perfect perfect drama.

And how amazing is Hyun Bin?



"You may think it's a waste to give her to someone like me, but if you do, I'll live my whole life happily as this woman's man, as Gil Ra Im's man."




Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. How far did Ra Im and Joo Won come? Would "my bride must have this and that and social standing and super-fancy education and pots of money and perfect looks" Joo Won ever have thought saying he was unworthy to marry a penniless blunt stuntwoman with a high-school education and looks far from a porcelain doll? And yet they have come full circle, to somehow right after Ra Im's father died saving Joo Won and Joo Won wanted to go and comfort Ra Im but felt so guilty and traumatized he literally repressed everything.



JW would have been somewhat odd even without stressors, but it's this whole incident and the trauma and memory loss that turned him into the panic-attack-prone neurotic who was oddly out-of-place in the world, functional only through routine and 'cheat' methods and frozen solid emotionally until Ra Im brought him out of his shell.

Ahh, Secret Garden. I wasn't that impressed with Ha Ji Won's performance, but I thought Hyun Bin did an amazing job in the drama. Those last few episodes after he got stuck in the elevator/her car accident/him choosing to be the little mermaid, etc (it) KILLED me. None of the writer's previous dramas (City Hall, the Lovers series, etc) made me cry, but this one had me bawling like a baby.

I never cared for Hyun Bin before this drama (I didn't like MNIKSS) but Secret Garden made me a fan of his. I have Friend, Our Legend on my future to-watch list.

I thought HJW did a good job (another actress would have made Ra Im either too drippy or too tough) but HB was beyond amazing.

I hate MNIKSS btw. I think he was amazing in Worlds Within, Snow Queen and SG though. FOL is super good.

I totally forgot about Hyun Bin being in Snow Queen. He was great in that with Sung Yuri. Hyun Bin always seems to have great chemistry with his female counterparts.

Secret Garden was my third kdrama, after Sungkyunkwan Scandal and Coffee Prince, and it's the one that converted me to the genre. Yoon Sung and Nana may possibly have eclipsed Kim Joo Won and Gil Ra Im as my favorite couple, but not by much--and only if they get their happy ending, darnit! If Joo Won can be a good dad, I'm holding out hope that Yoon Sung can too!

His character was very unusual. I loved him as a character, thought he could work with Raim, never would have wanted someone like that for myself etc etc but I can see if someone less talented than HB played him, I'd probably wanted to strangle him. HB managed to imbue him with this childish singlemindedness and vulnerability.

ahhh. two weeks more to go and this will wrap up here in the philippines. just in time for this post that brings me back to the good old days when i first fell in love with this drama.

yes joo won is an exceptional yet practical character i have ever seen in kdramaland. i dont remember any character before who will actually go for a girls number in a not so stalking mode LOL! i mean he can simply hire detectives but that's much costly as he said! haha!

i agree on the above posts. the episode 17-18 drained me much that i need a break from watching it. gives much pain. aigoo.
