City Hunter - ep 15 liveblogging

dangermousieHow is it possible for anyone to look so amazing all strung out and hurt?
I love how Target 4 is gloaty that City Hunter is too late to rescue the log of the mission 28 yrs ago, but no, YS saw it, he just chose to save a life instead, even if it's a life of someone he dislikes. And that is why he is worthy of a happy ending.
Bwahahaha Undaddy got another copy. Can we have a monster-off between him and Target 4? Also, am I the only one who thought, once he gave the guy who got him the book a car key and told him cash was in the trunk, that it was rigged to explode? Heh.
Undaddy's desire to wreck any chance YS have for a normal life is almost psychotic - how he tries to convince YS that risking his life every day he has no chance for love or protecting this love. It's a wonder YS is functional (if barely) with a father like that. It's deeply personal for Undaddy somehow, to destroy YS emotionally, to see him with as little worth in living as he is. Why? It's as if YS' misery is a validation of Undaddy's - because that makes it inevitable not a choice that Undaddy ended up the lonely monster he is. (When Undaddy says a normal/happy life is impossible for either of them - wtf - Undaddy at least chose it, YS had no choice due to Undaddy's insanity and kidnapping. But it's worrying me, those little possible hints of unhappy ending. Worrying me madly). And YS' answer that he has to survive to protect those who are his is so different from Undaddy who survives only for revenge. But the way Undaddy tries to push guilt and despair on YS makes me want to reach through my screen and strangle him. If Nana is YS' good angel, his link to sanity, Undaddy is his bad one, his guide to a dark dark place. Really, they are both fighting for YS' future.
Ah yes, YS is pushing Nana away from helping in Target 4's case because the man is dangerous and she sort of lets it slide, conversationally, but you see how unhappy she is with the walls. YS, you idiot, you keep it up and you are going to lose her.
Bwhahahahahaha YS is so bad with kids. If he and Nana have any of their own, it will be interesting.
I love how he keeps staring at his Mom, as if trying to make up for all the years of not seeing her.
YS' Mom gave him the ring his Dad gave to her, to give to Nana. I love how she also has a point about YS' future and hopes.

She tells him she won't get involved in his cases any more and I love how he stares (he's torn so much between walls and letting her in, between protecting her and wanting her with him all the time). She tells him to take care of himself instead and ask her for help when he needs it. And I can't help but wonder whether it's her not wanting to worry him or detaching because she thinks she can't get anywhere. Because I think ultimately Nana could move on - it's YS that wouldn't be able to.

I love that Prosecutor figured out it was Target 4 who tried to kill him and not City Hunter but love even more that it looks like all of this is pushing Lady Vet and him closer and making reexamine his priorities. YESSS.
You know, it strikes me that a lot of this ep so far is a fight for what path YS should take for his future - I love ahjussi's point that revenge seems kind of pointless and why don't they go hiding from Undaddy and live elsewhere with Nana and Mom (oh, Nana's quick intense look when she hears that - the matter-of-fact inclusion, the possibility of letting go) and then the fall as YS quickly dismisses it saying he won't be able to live a normal life if he doesn't complete it (why? worried about undone things? Undaddy tracking him? Targets?)
OMG, the scene where he's sitting by himself, looking at the ring saying "after I am done, if I am still alive, then..." Oh, the fact that he has to precondition it this way - oh God. If he dies, I am going to go Undaddy on your ass, drama!
I love his face when she matter-of-factly says she likes him. It's so easy for her, with her warmth and normalcy and so close-to-impossible for him to say it (though just once, I want him to say it, dammit!) And his eyes. I think he needs her even more than he loves her.
OK, I take it back, he was sweet with that kid. Perhaps there is hope for YS the Daddy.
OK, YS, I want to frelling smack you - he is telling Nana that the pic of the two of them she brought should be trashed and she should leave and in general is being an idiot. Yeah, I know Undaddy's comments about him not being able to protect those he loves due to his life being always on the line, are eating at him - he's losing any confidence in having a future, but still! I loved when she finally blew up and walked out. Even a loving, understanding woman can take so much.
(Side note - that picture frame broke and splinters went down between YS and Nana. Bad omen, baaaad!)
Awww, I love that he actually apologized. Awwww. And gets transfixed by Nana making a pretend ring (dude, just propose!!!!) Why does he hate having pictures of himself taken anyway?
Prosecutor's obsession with nailing CH is driving me nuts!!!
Aww, I love that YS could stay with his Mom overnight and that Nana arranged it. Nana is pretty much amazing - good looks and rescuing ability notwithstanding, YS is a difficult difficult person and she just deals with it.
Also, I am beginning to think again YS' Daddy is his Mom's husband.
YS and Nana in the hospital - heee. But not as much hee as at the lovers' spat btw ahjusshi and YS.

Prosecutor isn't pissing me off AS MUCH as you, but I forgive him alot because he's so HOT!!

First few moments I was in love with Dae Gil and then at the very end of the first episode Tae Ha made me into a two-timer. (Around 15 eps in I just wanted the three of them to live happily in a FARAWAY place with the General, Little Jumo + plus the pervy guy and Sul Hwa.) Sigh, at least one of them lived...

Urgh, I LOVE that Prosecutor's making progress. And I know he's now trying to solve 3 different puzzles what with CH, target 4, and the 1983 mystery but gah, if he'd just put CH on the back burner already!!
I know it's that itch he can't let go of since he KNOWS but has to find his proof but he's got bigger fish to fry! I have feeling tho that it's going to be his focus in the next eppy?
YS with his Mom was so sweet. I just want her to get better so he can enjoy his time with her! I love her for giving him that ring!
YS being an idiot but I think he's got the Hero complex bug right now. I feel so bad for Nana. I love how resilient she is and how perfect a match she is for him but like you said, she CAN move on from him if she has to, he CAN'T and he better realize that in the next episode.
And why the hell did he not bring a mask with him when he's going to pick samples of hazardous chemicals?? He's used one before! The idiot just came from the hospital and he didn't think to pack it?? Gah, he's getting a little sloppy :|

I think with CH his obsession is so personal because of his father but also because of his ego - he hates being outwitted and manipulated. But seriously, put it aside, man!
I love love love every scene of YS and his Mom. They are all so quiet and tender and lovely. And she is such a good influence on him.
You can tell Nana is readying to let go - the thing for new year's with bells is pretty much going to be her farewell and closing the chapter on it (I think she is this way, despite the fact that she loves him a lot is because she's grounded and functional and had a very solid upbringing. YS can't let go ever because he's a mess with nothing else to hold on to, no foundation at all. Because well-adjusted people grieve but move on. But he is not well-adjusted at all).
I think he's getting sloppy and not thinking because he's under so much stress and pressure and emotional overload -mfirst Nana almost dying, then ahjusshi getting hurt, bad guy almost dying because of him, finding his Mom (and learning she didn't ditch) etc etc etc, with Undaddy digging at him the whole time.
I hope he kept the pic! But why does he hate having his pics taken? Am confused.

I def agree. He never liked YS to begin with and having the CH deliver to him criminals he should have been catching himself doesn't sit well with him. I can almost imagine him wanting to compete to expose Target 4 before CH does. (he'd have to actually focus on it to do that though)
As sad as it is, I def agree. He keeps telling her to let go and how there isn't a future with him and how he can't say he likes her back. What's a gal to do. We can all see she understands but if he says let go, well she will. She made that decision once, she can def do it again. You're right about the wish she's asking for. It def sounds like a farewell. But that preview says otherwise (dunno if you've watched it yet?)
He is a mess. You can't blame him the way UnDaddy has his mind in a headspin of paranoia. I found it ironic that he's warning him to be careful of Prosecutor. If he didn't make Ys's life so difficult he wouldn't even have to worry about Prosecutor!
I know the pressure's getting to him and he's constantly racing against time which is probably why he isn't thinking things through. He needs Na Na! When the threesome went against master manipulator Undaddy, they actually won. Clearly he needs them.
I wonder if it's some sort of self hate thing? or just uncomfortable? or maybe he's become paranoid over it thanks to Undaddy? Possibilities! It's curious though.

I am shocked YS is any sort of sane with everything that is going on. Undaddy should be punished for what he did to YS throughout his life - that's inhuman. I am shocked YS is capable of any functionality, emotion-wise, after all this.

Between Nana not knowing that he adores her, to him not being able to tell her, and sitting there for hours almost dying then to have prosecutor pain-in-the-ass call him by the name his substitute mom called him (right before she died, and his REAL mom happens to be sick etc.) was horribly painful to me.
This show is going to force me to get an LJ....I been resisting for a long dang time. *shakeshead* I blame LMH. I didn't think he was all that good. THEN he goes and blows YS out the water. grr.

YS is slowly getting destroyed and consumed by Undaddy's revenge and it's horrible to watch, especially when he was fighting so hard for even a small sliver of a hope of happiness and future in the beginning of the ep only to give up after all.

If the fourth target wanted to find Nana, he would already be able to. So while they're both risking their lives, I say they fill their free time with some quality make-outs, because it's been six episodes since our last one and I need moarrr.
I continue to, amazingly, love Nana more each episode. It seriously should not be possible. But how amazing is it that she delights in embarrassing Yoon Sung by telling him as often as possible that she likes him? And is not bothered at all when he notices her checking him out, lol.
but really, Yoon Sung, who can blame her?I'm also secretly hoping that Sae Hee and the Young Ju get back together because they clearly both love each other, still. I'm hoping that this case gives Young Ju perspective on his life, allowing him to realize what's most important, ie. Sae Hee,and not vigilante crime fighters who are, frankly, basically doing his job for him.

Nana is so steady and sane in this maelstrom of insanity, I cannot help but be in awe.

Then there is Drunken to Love You and 1n2ds. Oh, and the whole real life thing. That's a problem. Of those, I'm in love with CYHMH, DTLY and CH, and so far WBDS.
I was considering recapping WBDS since no one else is, but then I decided that perhaps that way led to madness. 8-)

Date: 2011-07-14 04:06 pm (UTC)I think a large part of Prosecutor's obsession is, simply, that he's a very, very good prosecutor: driven, tenacious, unable to let go of something when he thinks he's got a lead. (Okay, maybe those are better traits for a good investigator, but he seems to be fulfilling both functions all the time.) I mean, the City Hunter is dropping bad guys in his lap: why wouldn't he want to know why and how and who this guy is? And then he starts getting driblets of information about something very, very bad that happened in 1983, and then it gets personal...
So while, yes, I'm yelling at him for YS's sake, I can understand and admire his motivations. I just want him to turn that tenacity towards working with YS, ack! (Though the antagonism/rivalry is also very, very hot.)
Aside from Prosecutor: NANA WHY SO AWESOME?! And man, after all the commentary we had on how she won't let his words push her away, it was so awful seeing him trying to do just that, and her resisting with all her strength--leaving his office, yes, so he can't say hurtful things anymore, but going out to help Ahjusshi piece the puzzle together instead. And thinking that she likes him far more than he likes her, but that's okay, she can deal with that, she'll just have to try not to be hurt...
I love YS's astonishment that Nana can so easily say the words that he can't, and I want to slay Evil Daddy for emotionally crippling him to this extent. Even as I found it almost kind of sweet that Evil Daddy sent Kyung Hee the music she likes, while at the same time super menacing. Really want to know what, if anything, happened between Jin Pyo, Mu Yeol, Kyung Hee, and the President 29 years ago...
