Yup, still amazing.



There is something inexorably just about Target 3 meeting his demise via being hit by a car. But oh, Prosecutor is never going to forgive YS, not even if he learns YS did not push him over - bad or not, the man was his father. FWIW, I do hold YS responsible for the death - if it wasn't for his cold-blooded moment of walking away plus threats, this would have never happened. Do I excuse him? Yes, because he snapped out of it and was going to save the guy - it's just his horrible luck that his brief loss of sanity led to this.

The scene does make me want to weep - for YS who looks as if he's damned, and for Prosecutor who breaks utterly.

Oh my God, Undaddy, I'd curse you but I have run out of adequate words. When he calls YS afterwards to tell him that if he turned to save Target n3, it makes Undaddy hitting Ahjusshi with a car meaningless...
.....I mean, what IS the point of letting YS know that he was set-up and went after the wrong person for revenge who is now dead as a result? What is the point - there is none except to torment YS in the worst possible way by letting him know his 'father' did his best to kill someone he loves to set him up and man whose death he now caused was blameless of what turned YS into a homicidal maniac. Oh God. Honestly, I can't even get angry any more, I am just numb.

Oh, the scene with Undaddy and YS - when Undaddy tells him the only way to end it is for YS to kill targets personally. ????!!! Honestly, at this point I am just believing he is doing it to torment YS as much as possible because he associates him with constant reminder of deaths of his comrades and also hates that anyone can try to be normal. Because Undaddy - wtf do you need with an unwilling pet assassin - you are more than capable of killing them yourself. I think you are just violent, sadistic control freak who likes torture and killing and control and are wroth YS is trying to shape a life of his own and are getting a kick out of punishing him.

HOLY FUCK HOLY FUCK HOLY FUCK DID YOON SUNG JUST STAB HIMSELF THROUGH HIS HAND IN FRONT OF UNDADDY AS SOME SORT OF PSYCHO "I am the closest to an important person to you and since there is nobody else close to you I can hurt to punish you for hurting my loved ones, I will hurt myself." HOLY FUCK THERAPY THERAPY THERAPY NOW. And then he stares at the man, blood dripping from his hand, dagger still embedded in his hand (!!!!!!!) asking 'did it hurt you too? It has to..It has to' with almost a triumph? Oh my GOD. You insanely tough, insanely screwed up darling OH MY GOD. I wonder if it's also YS' way of punishing himself and also seeking for one last drop of Undaddy's humanity. Not to mention, he doesn't value himself as a person at all (why would he, treated as a weapon, a thing not worthy of feelings all his life, someone who believed his mother threw him away, etc. Nana is the first person to give him unconditional love). And then he tells Undaddy he will never kill anyone.



OMG, Nana sees him and is all 'you are bleeding' but he shrugs it off and yells/cries at her to leave him or she will turn like Ahjusshi and then, with tears in his voice tells her it was his father who made Ahjusshi like that, to manipulate him (I love how honest he is with her but at this point he is so at the end of his rope, I don't think he could hold it in) and almost whispers that to his father he is neither a son nor YS (i.e. a person, even if not important like a relative) but a possession. Oh God. NANA, HUG HIM NOW before I crawl into my laptop and do it!!!!

And she tells him "I am by your side" and I die.

And he tells her he doesn't want to hurt anyone or lose anyone and he just needs not to see her and he just needs to endure not seeing her. Oh God, Yoon Sung, I understand but nooooo. You need her more than breathing. But of course, he's giving up everything, removing himself from the world to protect others and also to protect himself because he cannot take any more hurt. Oh God. And he tells her he made Ahjusshi like this (no, you did not!) and that he ignored Target 3 so he fell to his death... and all of a sudden she swoops in and hugs him. I just love it so much because he's baring his worst to her, showing all his unworthiness in an unsparing fashion and what does he get - love and understanding and touch. GUUUUUH. And then she tells him she wanted to kill Target 3 for years and if he didn't do it, she would have and so he didn't do it, she did so not to be tormented. Oh my God, she is trying to take his burden onto herself (because the difference is she didn't go after Target 3 and she told YS eps later she wanted the man in jail not dead) because truth is second priority to his well-being for her. And you see him start to cry and swallow and close his eyes as if he can finally relax and he leans into her. Oh my God, they could not be a better OTP if they tried. It's official - they are my new N1 kdrama OTP. Also, on a technical note, I love how off-tilt this scene is because it correlates to their emotional state.












Prosecutor having his nervous breakdown in the park - oh, it hurts. And then the confrontation with YS - I love that both men know the truth about each other but are dancing around it because there is no proof. And then Prosecutor tells him - 'you are not a hero. You are just a killer' and YS' face - because that is what YS thinks, fears about himself. Just see the following scene where YS stares and stares at the mirror - such a contrast to his scene with it yesterday.



OMG, Nana went to find Undaddy. Ovaries of steel, that one! I do love that she has to nerve herself going in - she knows the risks (look at how he treats his 'son' and she is nothing to Undaddy) but she will try to protect YS to the utmost anyway. And she demands he let YS go to have a life, and not treat him as a puppet and asks just how broken does YS have to be before Undaddy stops? OMG, she has spine of titanium. Seriously. And Undaddy points a gun at her and cocks it and all she does, when confronted with a psycho levelling a gun at her point-blank, is glare at him with infinite contempt and tells him to shoot because she's a bullet-shield anyway. Oh NANANANANANANANANANANANANA I LOVE YOU SFM. Even Undaddy backs down OMFG. And she tells him to leave YS alone or else she will come after him and that she is going to go because YS is waiting for her, gives him the smallest possible inclination of the head (total, deliberate rudeness LOVE) and walks out. NANANANANANANANANANANANNANANANANANA When she appointed herself Yoon Sung's protector henceforth, she was not screwing around.



Nana comes back to the hospital and YS is all freaking out where she went (if only you knew) and the way he is anxious about her is not even romantic as much as heart-breaking that he has to be this worried. Oh, poor messed-up, brutalized darling! And then he asks her if she's OK after finding out Prosecutor is son of her mom's murderer and part of it is that even in the middle of insanity that is his life, he worries about everything related to her, and part is it is an indirect way of asking if she forgives him for hiding the fact from her, and her response is so matter-of-fact and sane that I love her more and more.

Ooooh, Target 4 is so smart and scary. Mmmmm.

Ahjusshi is awake! YS's relief and thankfulness is --- OK, I am not crying, I am not.

Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. The scene where he found his mother and how she hugs him and says everything he's always wanted to and didn't dare hope he would hear about loving him and missing him and he's frozen from sheer emotional overload and then his arms very hesitantly and slowly go around her and he says "Omma?" Oh God, I am a watering pot today. Oh, and when he tells her later he hated her and wanted to keep her alive so he could keep hating her and he is sorry. He's unsparing with the truth, isn't he, no matter how much it costs him.









Oh, Yoon Sung, you break my heart - when he tells his Mom that Undaddy raised him but not to worry, Undaddy was ambitious for him and made sure he had studies and sports. Oh. Well, I suppose you can tell punishing physical assassin training and learning to hack and being brought up in drug camp that. Mom: "He doesn't put you in danger?" Yoon Sung (with a smile): "How could that be possible?" The sound you hear is my heart breaking.

OMG, what he replied to his Mom when she asked about his bandaged hand (losing someone or hurting someone has to be punished, whatever the reason) totally proves my hypothesis he did this to himself to punish himself. THERAPY THERAPY THERAPY.

Nana shows up, sees them eating and happy and snaps a pick and walks away quietly. Awww.

OK, Undaddy is looking at YS' Mom's pic and not only am I getting the sensation he had a thing for her, a horrible thought just came to me - what if he's YS' real father? Mommy was a bit evasive when asked to describe Daddy. Oh no please, let it be my overactive imagination.

Once the revenge plan is done, YS is going to take Mom for treatment in the US - huh? He wants to do it to protect her from bad guys but if revenge is complete, none should be left. Maybe he means Undaddy? Or medicine is better there or something? I understand but noooooo, YS, how could you just say it to Nana without asking her to go with you?

Oh, that explains it, he's freaking out at her happy demeanor because isn't she scared to be with him, as it's constant danger - so of course he wants to give her every out and distance and not push etc etc but oh, his eyes betray him because when he asks her how she can want to be with him, his eyes are begging for reassurance so badly - it's like he's a little kid who's testing boundaries to make sure, to feel safe, because he can't believe someone loves him like that at last. And she tells him 'I told you my feelings are my own, and you are not responsible for me.' And she adds Target 3 will wake up soon because she can tell it's unstated part of his self-loathing kick. Nana = amazing. Well, one of them needs to be sane, after all.

Nana is moving back to her house and woobie is POUTING awwwwww.

The scene in her house when he pulls her on top of him, stop teasing me, drama, and give me a sex scene NOW!!!!




Oh, his reaction to her telling him even coffee reminds her of him now is not good - it's bolting and thinking 'it shouldn't be like this' - is he worried how she'll go on if something happens to him? All the more reason to HAVE SEX NOW LIKE BUNNIES.

Oh, no, everyone is ostracizing Prosecutor.

Heee, he totally came back to work for Blue House so he can see Nana more, since she moved out of his place and went back to work. Awwww. And she bought him a tie! I love how she has to reassert for him not to lock her out of his justice-seeking repeatedly - because with his protectiveness and feeling of unworthiness, he'd totally have to be told and reassured again and again.

Bwahahaha Nana's jealousy.

OMG, Target 4 just ordered Prosecutor killed. Noooo!

Yoon Sung wearing a suit and kicking ass of multiple flunkies simultaneously is the most perfect sight on God's green earth.

EEEEEE! He rescued Prosecutor from certain death. Maybe they could team up for a bit now?

Is it me, or are odd-numbered eps' cliffhangers more brutal? It's quite nice because then we only have a day to agonize.

Also, I can't believe I am saying that, but all those near-deaths - some of them have to turn into genuine deaths at some point, right, because otherwise the stakes will get deflated.

This ep gives me hopes again for a happy ending btw. This show is like an emotional yo-yo.

It hadn't even crossed my mind that maybe Undaddy was YS's Realdaddy. BRB HAVE TO GO ROCK MYSELF IN A CORNER.

That would be so cruel but definitely something I think this drama would do.

This episode really made me feel for Prosecutor. I didn't even LIKE him before this week but that scene with him eating lunch alone just made me really sad.

I know. I was ready to strangle him in prior eps but he just broke here. And he really does put justice above everything but can't help but love his father because evil or not, he's his parent (the parallels with YS, the parallels!)

The thing that made me think JP is the father:

a. The pic he keeps of YS Mom
b. Undaddy and Mom interactions are kinda weird
c. When Mom comments on his picking out veggies and says 'you are just like him' and YS is all 'I pick my beans out like my bio Dad?' his Mom is all 'mmmm'
d. He asks her for what his Dad was like and she says 'he saved me and saved you.' Ummmm, when would have her dead husband have time to save YS? He died when the kid was a few weeks old.

The ending, the ending! I am dreading the ending so much.

Up until 3 episodes ago (since Nana got shot and everything started going downhill) I really thought a happy ending was possible, but now I DON'T KNOW!

With the tone the drama is taking I don't see how we can get a happy ending. I feel like YS is slowly falling into madness and inanity. I mean, what he did to himself in front of his father was INSANE!

I really hope that having his mother back will knock some sense into him because I'm telling you, one IRIS is enough for one lifetime.

If we get an IRIS ending, I will just start banging my head on the wall. Though tbh, YS is way less messed up than Hyun Joon was (and HJ was forced to become a killer).

I don't know, the second half of this ep was lighter - he found his Mom, Nana still offers unconditional love and support, Ahjusshi woke up, Target 3 is not wholly dead and even Undaddy tacitly backed off after Nana put the fear of God into him.

what he did to himself in front of his father was INSANE!

That was one of the most psycho things I've seen in a drama, and I've seen IRIS and Time Between Dog and Wolf. But I think as long as he has Nana, he has a chance to escape with his soul intact. Significantly, after the knife bit, Nana comforted him in the hospital and he became a lot more functional for the rest of the ep.

This episode was just so amazing and Nana oh dear Nana...is just so...how will YS ever be able to keep his sanity without you?!!! Just love Nana to bits the way she comforted YS, the way she confronted undaddy ahhh!!! she really is YS's angel...oh!!! dramagods please i beg you, give them a happy ending they deserve it more than anyone else and I need it for my sanity...

when LYS hurt himself to make undaddy feel something my reaction was "FUCK? WHAT? OMFG WHY? ARE YOU CRAZY? AND WHY SO BADASS?!"

when nana removed the burden of almost killing from YS by taking the guilt it was just..... why so awesome kim nana? this is true love you guys. and the hug? oh the hug! so heartbreaking and tender. it shows how much he needs her, just to be there.

i felt so bad for the prosecutor, his pain, his anger, it broke my heart because really, he didn't deserve any of this, because in the end of the day he is a good guy.

AND NANA OMG WHY SO FUCKING BADASS, GOING TO MEET THE DEVIL IN HELL WITHOUT TELLING ANYONE! her confronting undaddy! everything about it was perfect, how she pretty much told him that YS is her responsibility now, that he no longer belongs to undaddy's family, but to hers, that she'll do anything to protect the one she loves. and honestly, you can see that undaddy was impressed, really. if this was another situation i don’t think he would mind to have her added to the family. and YS' worries about her wellbeing, he almost lost ahjussi and she went out of his sight, i could hear the wheels of his head spinning in a crazy motion wanting nana to be by his side all the times.

and omg it's just me or the targets get creepier and creeper? like the biggest the number, the rotten the soul. target 4's shadow men too had crazy evil eyes, she scares me, a lot.

ahjussi waking up! thank god! and YS finally meeting his mom, lord i cried more than i should, this was such a beautiful scene, mother and son together at last. and lol i love that even if he is eating his long lost mother's food he still will be picky about vegetables (any other person would eat it for education), which made me find it more endearing what happened in the previous episode him eating the tomato for nana.

i've been thinking that something was up between undaddy and ys' mom for a while now, he always seemed too careful with her, even when he was being a bastard, and when he looked at YS' parents picture he's always touching her. i'm really hoping that he won't be YS' real dad. it's a long shot but i'm hoping for siblings tbh.

when YS said about going to america with mom, it broke my heart, because while you know that ahjussi without a doubt will go together nana won't. the look in her face, you could rea din her eyes "you are leaving me". and ugh while i understand why he is pushing her away again it annoys me! he is so bipolar when it comes to that, my heart cant handle it! like he wants her gone, but when he hears that she is moving out he gets all pissy and pouty (so did i, what, no more hair washing? what about chicken shopping? i need these things drama!).

AND OMG THAT SOFA SCENE, CITY HUNTER YOU OWN ME A MAKE OUT SCENE, YOU REALLY DO! he should have kissed her! he really should have! when he asked what she thought h could do, that was his opening, he should be all "what you are afraid that i'll do this?" and then kisses her!

ugh the coffee thing broke my heart, reminded me of the kiss episode. stupid YS you know that pushing her away wont work and only will hurt and confuse the puppy even more! she is not like you, she is not skilled in love relationship! you were her first kiss!

i felt so bad for the prosecutor and so angry with those people. do they think they are in high school?

his return to the blue house mad me giddy! more flirting please! nana's partner is such a hussy, back off from nana's man! (okay i don't think she is a hussy or blame her, but still). nana buying YS a tie was so cute, i bet it's going to become his favorite.

lol nana's jealousy, i love it and it was nice to see that YS still has his lady killer moves.

target 4 is evil really, and thank god that YS chose to save the prosecutor than the book. i really wish that they would pair up, like batman and commissioner gordon!

and i'm so thankful that it's the odd numbered episodes that have the worst (but best) cliffhangers or i wouldn't be able to handle it.

Him stabbing himself like this was one of the most insane things I've ever seen in a drama. Reminded me of Tree of Heaven where hero stabs himself so bad guy would stay away from heroine. YS seriously needs therapy.

Nana is amazing and enables him to function - his periodic struggles to save her by distancing always fail just because he can't be without her (and OMG she took his burden on herself because he already has so many). The push-pull has got to stop - Nana is secure in his affections but that's gotta annoy a girl, and seeing she cowed Undaddy, you better mind your manners, YS :P I need more skinship asap, btw!!!

Prosecutor - my heart breaks for him and I totally love him right now. I want him to succeed even if not in catching CH (maybe he'll mellow now CH saved him). Also, he should get back together with Lady Vet. I think a lot of his drive came from guilt about his father being bad, and hopefully he can move past that.

I know, the America thing gave me hives. And Nana is a BH bodyguard, of course she won't go. Though if you think you can survive w/o her YS, you are deluded - you freaked when she just moved back to her house.

I don't know what they are to each other but the vibe btw Undaddy and Mom is majorly odd.

Yup, I bet he's going to obsess over this tie.

I love that Nana didn't tell YS she went to meet Undaddy before or after - she really does try to protect him. You see Undaddy was impressed with her, even (I bet if she freaked about the gun, she'd be dead). I think he even tacitly gave in and backed off (well that was because of Nana and also YS' knife stunt).

I hope his Mom gets better. That was so necessary.

This is random but I just can't help it anymore. I just create an account just to post about this drama. I been following you and your recaps ( thank you very much for it)for a while now. This drama is definitely going to be the death of me! So much to talk about in today episode and you say it all with your post above! I love it! Definitely for me in today episode when Joon Sung meeting his mother was the most memorable! I was crying during the scene when she told him how much she want to cook for him...awwwww that was so bittersweet to me. Like you, I predict Undaddy is his real father,too! It is definitely this writer's territory to pull a twist like that in the story. I so don't want that to happen because how twisted would that be!
On another note, I love love NANA in today's episode! It is beyond awesomeness that she has the gut to confront Undaddy with a gun pointed directly at her. Hurray for Heroine who are brave, understanding, and has the will and audacity to save her man! Me likey a lot!!!!
Gosh, the stakes are getting higher and higher I hope I have the strength to finish this emotional roaster coaster ride drama!

Yes, his reunion with his mother was beyond moving - this was something he was longing for since childhood and never thought he could have. It's as if some giant hole in him has finally been filled. And the cooking thing, awwww. I hope she cooks many many meals for him in the future.

I do think Undaddy might be his real Dad which would be kinda insane (he's spent time avenging the man who's not even his birth Dad?). I do wonder whether YS ever noticed Undaddy's vegetable eating/non habits.

Nana is beyond amazing. She's strong beyond belief. The way she ignored that gun, wow.

AAAARGGHHHH! Show managed to unhinge me. TOTALLY!

Though nobody really talked about this one but I have to get it off my chest! YS, you fracking IDIOT! *slaps him* Why do you push the awesome NN away? AGAIN and AGAIN, I might add? I can hear my heart break when she iterated to him that it's her feelings, that she's not going to hold him responsible for any of it. Although it's obvious that he loves her but he NEVER even said that he likes her out loud not even to Ahjusshi. I feel so bad for NN. Although she kinda knows that YS is doing this for her own safety, STILL, my heart aches that I'm literally crying for her.

Not to take away YJ emotional breakdown re his father nor the heartfelt and touching mother-son reunion, what made this ep epic for me is how simply AMAZING NN is. Her capacity to love, her strength, indomitable will and sheer grit coupled with optimistic outlook in life is shown in so many different ways. I have this horrible feeling that after helping YS, she will drift away. She will fulfill her promise that she'll make it thru till the end AND be his pillar and let him go live a happy life with Ahjussi and his mother. See what I mean? UNHINGED. waaaah..... T_T

I think she knows he loves her but it would be wonderful for her to hear it (he told Ahjusshi he didn't think he could live without her but she was unconscious at the time).

So true, I was thinking the same yesterday when I wondered if KJS would die from his fall or not. Only LKW has died so far. BtW, that totally was Target 4 who ordered the killing. Undaddy was probably there to ask for more info. I think the drama is now headed towards Undaddy's redemption and having target number 4 kill target number 1 would not only fit target 4's MO but would put one less sin on Undaddy's soul.

And I want to slap myself. Before reading your post I hadn't thought that Undady might be YS's real dad, only that he had a thing for his mom. But that would make total sense. Maybe that's why he feels even more driven to get revenge? Because he feels so guilty toward MY for having sampled his wife's wares so to speak? That would explain why he would go to such length. He's not only feeling survivor's guilt but also the guilt of having betrayed his best friend. I'm pretty sure he'll die at the end of the drama. That would bring his arc to close. He wouldn't be able to live a good life anyway. He's too messed up.

The America thing made me think of a possible hopeful ending: YS going to America with his mom and NN staying behind with the understanding that he'll be back for her one day. On the one hand it could be considered a happy ending, on the other hand, it would also disappoint me because it's been done before (not the leaving with sick mom thing but the returning sometime in the near future thing) and also I really REALLY want an unbashedly romantic final scene between YS and NN.

And can I say bromance!!!!! Javabeans meantioned it in her recap and I could sooooo see it. They had chemistry when YJ pushed YS into the wall when he caught him at his father's door. They could still have a rivalry, only with a mellower kind of tension instead of the "you evil bastard, I'll catch you see if I don't" thing.

But I'm getting worried about KJS. What if Target n°4's lackey succeeds in killing him? Even if YJ himself doesn't believe YS did it, the world will probably hold the CH responsible, which wouldn't bode well for a HEA. But it might leave the door open to the theory that Undaddy will reveal himself as the CH ans thus (finally!) save his son.

I honestly think it was Daddy who killed N1. He's shown no problem with taking out either targets or innocent bystanders (see his attempt on 2 and almost killing Nana during it). Plus, it would be odd to revisit it now. It could be my hatred of him talking though.

Yeah, and that way his pushing YS and punishing him and wanting him in his exact image would even make some sort of sick twisted sense.

I can't see an unabashedly happy ending, it doesn't seem like that kind of drama. Going away and coming back seems the best we may hope for.

Love for this show just keeps growing, and growing...

Thanks for the recap, I read and re-read just because I am so obsessed that I want to be talking,watching,listening to anything city hunter. One thing that I haven't seen talked about is the fact that YS's mom said "Lets live happy somewhere" I found that amazing in the parallel with YS craving that since the beginning of the show. It was always w/ his non-daddy, the only parent he had then. Then she says that tohim, and I just wanted to scream "He wants that more than anything too!!" *sigh* which means she will probably die without him getting what he wants most.

OK, Undaddy is looking at YS' Mom's pic and not only am I getting the sensation he had a thing for her, a horrible thought just came to me - what if he's YS' real father? Mommy was a bit evasive when asked to describe Daddy. Oh no please, let it be my overactive imagination.

I thought the same thing too! Since episode first I thought (without knowing what would really happen) that Mom and Undaddy were having some affair. There was something there, I know. But maybe, as you said, is only our overactive imagination. I hope so.

NANA IS AWESOME! <333 I've been so sick of those female leads who are completely clueless to everything the guy's feelings. It's great to see a strong woman taking control and actually being the emotional anchor for the guy!

Oh the endless wait for each new episode drives me NUTS!!
