The height of perfection beyond my dreams

Initially, this was going to be a post encompassing all of episode 12 of City Hunter but I have 2500+ caps (!!!!!) to sort through and my meta keeps going up and up. So expect a proper post around the weekend, but for now, have this scene from the first ten minutes. I have never seen anything so romantic in the entirety of the kdrama existence - nothing that had that combo of acting, meaning, cinematography, raw chemistry, and catering to my kinks.

On the umpteenth rewatch what struck me the most was that gesture of her extending her hand from the gurney - because it's such a huge leap of faith and show of vulnerability and need as she doesn't know he loves her. And the way he looks up at her, adoringly but also with guilt because he feels unworthy.
And I haven't even gotten into the backhug or bandage-changing or the hairwashing (hairwashing!) or the groceries (way to get YS to eat veggies? Call him Nana's husband :P) or anything else in this episode that is pure amazingness of Yoon Sung/Nana. He shines like a new penny when she is around because that is the first time he feels secure and loved.
I'll get to all the wonderful other stuff on the weekend, hopefully you guys will still care :)

Date: 2011-07-01 03:34 am (UTC)So obviously it had to have that ending. I swear that's another six years off my life. By the time this show ends I'm just gonna have a heart attack and die on the spot.

And that backhug - he was so vulnerable (learned about his mom, yikes) and she responded so perfectly.
And the shopping! Her making him eat veggies. ADORABLE they need to be like this forever.

I mean, Nana is basically already my all time favourite heroine. She is so functional and sane, and mature and loves him so much. She doesn't freak out over small things, she didn't go all crazy on him when she found out he was the City Hunter, and she can fight, she saves him, she is his equal and she kicks ass, and she is funny and sweet and cute and sometimes like a little girl. I ADORE HER!
Sorry, I'm just to emotional and exited at this moment.

Date: 2011-07-01 03:55 am (UTC)I love when he confessed to ahjusshi. He was hiding his feelings so much earlier but now it's as if a dam has burst.
Is that really possible ?

Date: 2011-07-01 03:57 am (UTC)I love that she is competent and goofy, tough and feminine, someone to protect and someone who rescues him. She's a complete person, not a personification of some trait, a man in a skirt (so many 'tough' female characters are written badly), or a silly damsel. She is amazing. And he is so happy when he's with her, no matter what else may be going badly - she makes him into the shiny boy of the song :)

If you have an IV, you are allowed to lift your arm and move around and the liquid would still flow in anyway - it's not a pure drip, there is often a pressure mechanism for precise calibration of speed. (At least was the case when I was delivering Baby Mousie a couple of years ago). I assume blood would work the same way.

Date: 2011-07-01 04:01 am (UTC)also, i think that park min young is going to be lee min ho's best lead female, ever and vice-versa. they are just gorgeous individually and together (plus she is the first lead that is actually prettier than him) and have such a wonderful chemistry.
oh city hunter, i love you dearly.

Date: 2011-07-01 04:05 am (UTC)Gah, I love the cute!
And not to mention the scene where she kept wanting to work next to him and he kept being stubborn as usual. Only you can't out-stubborn a stubborn woman. They're adorable.

Date: 2011-07-01 04:07 am (UTC)Yeah, I love how she told him she won't let him experience danger alone.

Date: 2011-07-01 04:12 am (UTC)I love so much so much so much that they are literally sharing blood now - that he gave a part of himself so she would live (I love how ahjusshi is all 'you are wounded and giving blood now, you'll collapse' and he just shrugs it off).
I agree, I kept waiting for a kiss there. But then, if I were writing it, they would have totally ended making out during either the bandaging or the hair-washing. I loved how incredibly tender he was doing such a menial boring task because it's for her and he gets to touch her and help her and then the soap fight and they were so giddy.
I've seen some people a bit disappointed she didn't die and I don't get it. Leaving aside my Nana love, it would just turn him into a psycho worse than Undaddy and that would mean bad guys won.

Date: 2011-07-01 04:15 am (UTC)That supermarket scene. ahvfirhdljlksdfk! I never thought conversations about vegetables could be so entertaining!
I LOVE that. Especially when he's admitting he can't even understand how this tiny little girl is capable of being this tough.
As much as he wants to protect her, she wants to protect him. But they're not stupid about it either. They'd give their life for each other but if he tells her to stay put he tells her WHY and then she LISTENS because it's the smart thing to do and it makes it easier on him.
I can't ask more in my drama characters than to be sane in the face of logic and discretion. The only time I expect them to be stupid crazy is when they're protecting their loved ones.

Date: 2011-07-01 04:16 am (UTC)sexual favoursskinship also would be a good trade for him to eat his veggies.if undaddy doesn’t die i'll be very disappointed.

Date: 2011-07-01 04:17 am (UTC)Like you said, she's endearing not overdone.
Hah, that "NYAH" WAS adorable!

Date: 2011-07-01 04:22 am (UTC)his love for nana is so selfless, so is her feelings for him, and that what is what i love about them, anyone can kill for their loved one, but not everyone will die for their loved one.
i must agree, if i was writing it every possibility would end up in a mare mature way. seriously, so many endless possibilities. and those gestures, other than being utterly beautiful even if so simply, also made me so happy. mostly because their banter, from day one, still is there, even knowing everything, he still acts like a school boy pulling her pigtails and i just adore it because it means that this is not making them cynical or hardening their souls.
and that i don't get, like you, ignoring my love for nana, how can they wish that? are they watching the same drama as me? haven't they noticed that nana is not a simply love interest? nana is hope and faith (in human kind), with nana dying yoon sung's hope and faith would die with her.
