[livejournal.com profile] spunspider has the perfect summing up as to why you should watch it RIGHT NOW:

is this show fucking insane or what. like, it is not subtle or anything but i can't even bring myself to give a fuck, it is literally about lee minho being beautiful and badass and beautiful some more, aching and angsting and bleeding all over the place...also park minyoung's role is as a proxy for every female to live out her dirtiest, basest fantasies. sigh. i feel blessed. :')

Yeah. What she said. I could try to sum it up for hours and not manage better.

Best drama EVER. At least for my id.

It is a very shameless show. I'm actually trying to decide if it or Yi Zhi Mei is more shameless.

That quote above could be for YZM word for word. Just change actors' names and add 'in period clothes.'

I'm sorry but i don't really think this summary does City Hunter justice, though it might convince many to watch the show. City Hunter to me means much more than that. I can't really put it into words well but it's the perfect combo of action and romance and intrigue. And CH is also a drama with a lot of heart. However, I do agree that the best thing about CH is LMH. City Hunter definitely wouldn't be the same without him! He is an amazing Yoo Sung...he plays out all his scenes perfectly: he can be cool, hot, badass, vulnerable, cute, and even a jerk when he wants to be (but I love all sides of him).

I agree with you that it's much more that the above, but the above part gets my id going :)

LOL
It does play out all of our fantasies doesn't it? Lee Min Hot doing ANYTHING is beautiful.
Can you blieve this is the first time I've watched on of his dramas from start to present?
But what's even better is that is does it SO WELL. I haven't seen an action based show done with so much finesse WITHOUT being cheesy, awkwardly cliché, or plot-holey in EVER.

But the eye candy? I think that's the icing on the f--king cake honestly.

I know, he's gorgeous but he is also in a really good drama. I cannot believe our luck.

Trust me, I'm already tempted to watch, but I find that I enjoy dramas better once all the episodes are finished and subbed. But as soon as it's done, I'll be ALL OVER IT.

my feelings exactly! this drama is climbing up so fast in my top 5 favorite dramas ever it's ridiculous!

but i really should stay away form the discussion forums, they make me roll my eyes so hard i think it's gonna drop out of it's place. maybe it's because i'm way too much into OTP, but i saw comments about yoon sung is now having feelings for saehee, and that they have better and their chemistry than him and nana and that nana is not god enough for him and all i want to do was go all 5th grader with them and argue why my toy is better and shinier than theirs.

Someone ought to come to Nana's defense in those forums. Am I the only one who does not see the so-called chemistry between Yoon-sung and Sae-hee?

From: [identity profile] dangermousie.livejournal.com
Nope, you are not the only one. I see zip chemistry there.

sadly i see it as a lost cause, but i agree, while i like saehee i fail to see any chemistry between them.

It's certainly my fave drama this year so far.

I stay away from forums for my own sanity. Stop bashing Nana, people! I see zip chemistry between YS and SH and YS' love for Nana is a huge part of the story.

this drama has afew holes, They lost so many detail as action drama, some part is abit contrived, so I don,t find this drama perfect. but I don't care because I love this drama to death. Their strength is they can build a suspense, tension, romance, humour all in one but still manage to keep the momentum high and not confuse the viewers. . I really think this drama one of the best action genre in korean drama.

Okay, I'll check out the first epsode today. *gg* I think this is exactly what I need at the moment as counterpart for "Jumong".
Btw, I'm at episode 66 and it's amazing how it never gets boring or anything. Though the haircuts got a bit ridiculous.

I think the writeup doesn't do the drama justice because City Hunter is so much more than LMH's gorgeous brooding, and PMY's character is so much more than just a conduit for female hormonal fantasies.

The biggest draw for City Hunter is its amazing and suspenseful storytelling. Without it, City Hunter would be a completely mediocre (perhaps even unwatchable) drama starring beautiful people. See Personal Taste and Boys Over Flowers for beautiful people/stupid plot, and Athena for slick production/stupid plot.

I agree, it's well-written but honestly, the thing that makes me rabid is the little hormonal burst I get from it - both my brain, my heart and my ovaries are happy :)

hehehehehehe. :)

chill out folks, i am not trying to belittle the show, and it would not be near as good if it wasn't so tight and so good at atmosphere and cliffhangers (omg the cliffhangers) but the fact remains, at its core it is just what i said, and that's what we're all responding to.

Exactly. It's well-written and well-acted but what gets me rabid is exactly what you said.
