City Hunter - obsession unheard of since last year's Sungkyunkwan Scandal (ironically also starring Park Min Young).

Can You Hear My Heart - behind but marathonning every chance I get. Such a pitch-perfect drama. I love and/or find interesting every single character.

New Tales of the Gisaeng - I confess to losing interest now that Damo and Saran are together, but it's still fun.

Heartstrings - next week, baby!

Miss Ripley - excellent, though emotionally involves me less than the rest, it's a dark smart drama. I wish I had all of it at once though because I think that way the impact would be strongest. Or maybe I am just greedy and want to binge.

I've given up ever trying to get through Best Love - multiple tries and am still deadly bored. Also, Lie to Me - I enjoyed it but am swamped with other dramas which appeal to me more. I'll get back to LtM someday though.

Japan

Muscle Girl - a good way to unwind. Can't wait until Ouran and Tempest (period drama with Nakame Yukie as a cross-dressing woman becoming a beaurocrat).

Taiwan

Material Queen - smart, excellent, and oh-so-different from a typical idol drama. It's hard-edged despite the inevitable romance, and I love that. Plus, Vanness is wicked hot.

Hayate the Combat Butler - just checked out a little bit but appears madcap fun, plus have a major crush on George Hu. But pls spoil me - is Park Shin Hye his OTP? I like to know these things so I can ship appropriately.

Love Keeps Going - am about to start. twdrama romcoms are the only ones which work for me, plus I adore Mike He and Cyndi Wang.

K.O. 3an Guo - still obsessing, just keeping pace with subs.

Mainland

Vigilantes in Masks - my biggest obsession of the season. Watching with Mr. Mousie, so it takes a bit of time.

Thailand

Oum Ruk/Chain of Love - I like it, but am going slowly, trying to squeeze it between everything else.

As you can tell, it's an insane list, and it doesn't even include dramas which I plan to start when I have more time or ones which I temporarily put aside to concentrate on these. For now, I don't care if a drama starring naked Won Bin came out, I have no room to add anything.

...

...

Well, maybe naked Won Bin drama would get in after all.

I'm curious to see your thoughts on the latest episodes of Gisaeng. In particular, there's a recent plot device that makes me think the writers have just discovered weed.

Is that the ghost?

Yeah, definitely weed. Or maybe they stole the stash of LSD the writer of Bad Guy was hiding.

Honestly, they should have wrapped everything quickly past ep 40, not went into looneybin.

Yup. I seriously had to hit pause when it appeared because I started laughing so hard. Seriously, what the fuck, writers?

Or maybe they stole the stash of LSD the writer of Bad Guy was hiding.

Something tells me they all know the writers of Love Contract.

I still watch it though. Now I just want to see what happens with Rara and the english teacher.

Oh God, not Love Contract ending. I literally had hysterics for an hour straight throughout the last ep. Except for IRIS, it is still the most traumatic drama experience ever for me.

I adore Rara and Kyle and want a drama about them.

Weirdest ending ever. I have no clue how anyone thought it was a good idea.

I adore Rara and Kyle and want a drama about them.

I just want Rara to be happy. I'm glad she didn't marry the scummy doctor. He was an ass.

I hope that Doctor ends up with only his right hand for company.

LC was written by a sadist. I heard the maker's other drama has a similar ending.

Re Hayate the Combat Butler: I watched the first episode on streaming. It was very cute. Madcap fun, but with some underlying heart. Your typical Taiwan rom-com.

As for your question, yes PSH is George Hu's end game OTP. But, as of the first episode, he has a crush on PSH's maid. However, I don't think that will last long - it's only a 13 episode drama; and the preview for episode two shows his character getting a bit annoyed with possible love rival for PSH's character.

Good! I dislike uncanon shipping unless I can't help it, plus I adore PSH.

Only 13 eps? Great, it means it won't have a chance to get draggy.

Ooh, looking forward to what you have to say about Love Keeps Going. I was planning on checking it out for Xiao Xiao Bin, but I get the feeling he only has a minor role.

I plan to get to it next week (my general backlog is insane).

Lie to Me seems to be so anti-climax, I swear. I was expecting at the beginning this big thing about her finding out they are brothers or vice versa, and I though they would go further into the story line that both brothers like her and that history seems to be repeating itself. At times I even like her better with the younger brother.

Best Love just annoys the hell out me, it is immature and stupid at times, which why I decided to marathon, once again, A Love to Kill until Heartstrings comes on next week.

BL is so very immature. People keep loving it and I am just confused.

...I was gonna say, naked Won Bin sounds pretty compelling to me.

You've probably seen my posts on Love Keeps Going but in my opinion the first episode is deadly dull, the first gets better and I fell in love in the third episode (it's very like Lie to Me in that it's rubbish until the OTP start getting major osncreen time and then everything falls into place).

I only watch twdrama romcoms for otp stuff anyway so I am in.

Muscle Girl - a good way to unwind.

Lee Hong Ki's Japanese in muscle girl is sooooo cute. ♥♥♥

... that's the main reason I watched the first two episodes.

Sadly I have no time for anything else except k-dramas atm and as the next batch looks promising, I'm not sure things are going to change much. :)

Best Love surprisingly got better on the 2nd half. I was about to drop it but then the writers suddenly decided to stop grandstanding. The main characters got less irritating and more like real people instead of charicatures. My favourite is still Jae Suk (Dokko Jin's manager) though, he's cute as a button. ;P

Giesaeng has certainly gone somewhat bizarre of late. I wonder if the writer really is pissed by all the flack she got with the angsty mid-section and this is payback, like some are surmising? She is supposedly kinda excentric. I'm still going to finish it as it makes me giggle. Besides there aren't that many episodes left and I also want to see how some of the other storylines get wrapped up.

CYHMH is still great and I'm hoping it'll stay that way till the end. Another OTP I really like.

I'm enjoying City Hunter a lot so far, though I'm not obsessed. That happens very seldom and always sort of takes me by surprise. Heartsrings may well turn out to be one of those....

When it come to rom-coms, Baby-faced Beauty is the one I ended up liking the best. I certainly wasn't expecting that at all but it has this ability to put a really big grin on my face. I think it's majorly due to Daniel Choi, he's just so dorky and cute.

I'm saving Miss Ripley till later. It feels like one of those dramas that are best when watched all at a go.

>> twdrama romcoms are the only ones which work for me,

May I humbly direct your attention to 'Drunken To Love You'. It's not ground-breaking or anything like that, but so sweet and warm and both the leads are SOOOOO very amazin'. I LOVE Cha Seung-won and never thought I'd abandon Best Love, but a long vacation broke me entirely out of the momentum of watching the show and I even -gasp- forgot to catch the finale live...

I think so, majorly, yes! Just try to stick past ep 1 a bit and you'll be on your way to tw romcom bliss!

definitely. it's one of the few TW-dramas that keeps the OTP cuteness that TW-dramas are best for whilst being uncharacteristically restrained in the area of WTF hijinks. Of course there are still the played-just-for-laugh tropes, but I think they don't detract from the overall sweetness and sensibility of the drama.
