I am quite sure I am the sole person among LtM watchers who is shipping Gi Joon with his ex. But not only is their type of story a lot more my thing than the main OTP's story (in general, conflicted pain gets me much more than romcommy cuteness - that scene where Yoon Joo's foot was cut - OMG), I am just not sold on YEH/KJH characters as soulmates - there is much more basis for long-term attachment with Yoon Joo the ex - there is all that long history - they got serious enough to get married! KJH/YEH have a ton of sexual chemistry and I can totally buy them having this amazing torrid fling, but "cannot live without each other?" Not really - they barely know each other, KJH is still conflicted about YEH vis-a-vis the ex, and YEH is in the first throes of a crush, not some fate-defying passion.

Which is why I've kind of dropped this drama for now. Like you, I think the YJ/JH pairing makes more sense, but unlike you it's not to my taste at all when I know they're not the main pairing. It makes the heroine seem like second best and it's something I do not like in books/movies.

So I'll wait to see how thing go when JH has turned the page. I did this for My Girl actually. I only started watching the drama at a point when the hero was already in love with the heroine and over bitchy secondary girl and then went back to watch the full drama. Knowing the payoff would be good, it was easy to sit through what comes before. I don't know if it'll work that way with LtM though, JH is much more smitten with secondary girl than GC ever was in My Girl and we're halfway through the drama already.

He's already acting unsure about YJ and I'm sure by episode 9, he'll be all about Ah Jung.

The thing with MG, the other girl was a heartless bitch and it was pretty clear GC was over her even if he was trying to hold on. Here, the gal is nice and his state of mind isn't clear.

I adore Yeh, but i find Ah-Jung character really annoying. I am definitely siding the second-lead in terms of story line. Glad to know i am not alone.

Yah, i agree sizzing OTP. But that's not enough to keep me hooked. Very lazy plot.

This screenwriter is not very good - the main OTP chemistry is insane but the writing is lacking to buy their soulmate status.

narratively they make sense, but because they lack chemistry I don't buy into them. okay, they dated because you're telling me they dated. but I can't envision it in my head. one of the few rare times I bought the ex story was in MNIKSS. the flashback scenes btw Huyn Bin and Jung Ryeo Won had awesome chemistry. And then she went and topped herself by having awesomer chemistry with Kim Rae Won in WSRUF as two different characters, the ex, and the ex's sister. That's the sort of stuff writers need to do if they want ex's to appeal to me.

Ehhh, unless a pairing has antichemistry (like Chae Rim and Choi Siwon), as long as the concept appeals, I don't need crazy chemistry.

OMG, I loved WSRUF.

You're not the only one, dear. Go read: http://couchkimchi.wordpress.com/2011/06/04/lie-to-me-week-4-shit-happens/

Some others on soompi also agree but they usually get stoned by the rest of the viewers.

I can totally see him and his ex working. They totally have the material for another drama there. I just have a feeling that she will turn into the antagonist or something, keeping them separated.

Honestly, him and his ex is totally the kind of kdrama love story I normally go for so...

Not to mention that the main girl annoys the hell out of me, but she is played by one of my favourite Korean actress so that makes it somewhat tolerable. I hate when characters, especially grown up characters, are as childish as her.

I mostly stick around for the make-out scenes. Plot? What plot?

I'm sure if Ah Jung was played by anybody besides YEH I would totally agree with you.

LOL.

I love YEH but not to that extent. Maybe if it was Lee Da Hae :P

I can definitely see your point so no stoning from me! The only thing is that the chemistry for the secondary pairing is definitely lacking when in comparison to the lead couple. I understand about your wait and see mentality though because I tend to do that a lot if I can't tell how the ending or payoff will go. I think Lie to Me is a mixed bag so far as it's very uneven writing wise which is understandable since I understand that the scriptwriter is a newbie but it's saved by the experience of the main lead actors because of their chemistry. But I don't know, it all depends on how it all plays out.

I agree, they don't have as much chemistry, but I usually can overlook it if the writing/concept works for me.

I just finished watching episodes 7-8 and agree with you, especially this:

"that scene where Yoon Joo's foot was cut - OMG"

I had the same reaction! Love how she was like, "eff the foot, it hurts here..hand over heart" Her emotional pain was really palpable.

Seriously, the only reason why I prefer Ah Jung overall is because Yoon Eun Hye is one of my favorite actresses.

I agree. I hate when the X is condemned or evil because oftentimes there was something decent or good about them or there wouldn't be an X in the first place. It's hard to be torn with a character struggling with X-issues if the X is evil incarnate.

But am I the only one looking at the screencaps above and getting sidetracked from the kiss thinking they both have long toes? lol
