Most perfect thing ever
May. 21st, 2011 08:34 pmI am horribly behind on replies and apologize in advance for posting this instead of replying (I promise to get to replies ASAP).

But! But! This was so perfect and wonderful and hitting every one of my kinks!
Oh, I adore Guan Yu/Diao Chan so very much. Nothing bad is allowed to happen to them, drama! Drama, we have a deal, right? I pimp you out to my flist and sing your praises, and you do not frak with my OTP!
The set-up: Guan Yu is (a) slowly turning into a demon and he cannot control it (long story) and (b) he has a year left to live.
It's really a totally perfect set-up (as long as it ends happily and it better!). Because Guan Yu is the ultimate good guy, who'd rather die than harm an innocent, but he is slipping more and more (he hurt Zhao Yun and later Huang Zhong). He was going to do a wuxia thing and permanently disable all his fighting pressure points or whatever and get to be a cripple but luckily his brothers and Diao Chan talked him out of it - he only agreed because Liu Bei can control him through demon-exorcising cymbals (just go with it, this is a wuxia-type drama - basically if Liu Bei and his cymbals are around, and GY goes into a demonized fits, he can make him unconscious with them and prevent him from harming someone).
And yeah, so he doesn't want to be around Diao Chan to protect her :( and I love her because she is so common-sense and loving and strong and very good at defeating the typical 'noble idiot' fit (only it really wasn't because they actually tell each other what is going on, shocking! and also his wanting her not to be alone with him is reasonable, but her attitude to it is guuuuuuuuh!).

Ohhhhh. This is so adorable, his making-pretend (them both making-pretend, actually) that his previous attempt to push her away was made by his demon, hence the reference to unconsciousness and lack of memory, which is how he goes when demon goes exorcised.

They are perfect! OK, rationally I know there is no way they are offing Guan Yu - there is 21 eps after this left and he's the main chracter, but irrationally, I am totally freaked out. Fix it!!!!!!!
I am probably freaking out more than I should because in the real Three Kingdoms, both Diao Chan and Guan Yu had really really gruesome fates.
