what're your thoughts on getting into this with essentially zero knowledge of the Three Kingdoms story?

I think it's fine. Knowledge would make it extra funny but it's funny anyway (one of my flisties is watching this with me and loving it and she knows zip about TK). I am not that familiar with TK either - just know the basics, and not even all of them, and I still have fun.
