For those who are interested in that sort of thing, leaving aside complexity of characters or acting, on sheer rooting for scale,

I prefer KO's versions of Liu Bei, Guan Yu, Zhang Fei, Zhou Yu, Wang Yun, Shang Xiang, Xiao Qiao and TK's versions of Diao Chan, Lu Bu, Zhao Yun, Sun Ce, Cao Cao, and am even about the rest.

Victor Huang as Zhou Yu is the only reason I gave this a try last week. However, now that I have officially jumped on the bandwagon, the history of this time period is quite fascinating. I've even placed a hold on the English translation by Moss Roberts at my local library and plan to tackle the book in a few days, right after I wrap up all of my school assignments.


BTW: Does anyone else agree with me that Victor Huang is like a cross between Louis Koo (his eyes especially) and Hawick Lau (his smile)....or am I just crazy? XD

I can sort of see this, re Victor. In any event, he is undubtedly a handsome man. I plan to check out Paladins in Troubled Times asap, for him.

I am reading a different translation (a more modern one) so while I cannot comment on Roberts' translation in particular, at least in my translation, the story is a huge eal of fun.
